13 y/o/thinks she is too old for BBB

Our 13 y/o/thinks she is too old for BBB but wants to do it with her 6 y/o sister. We have tried to tell her that at Disney everyone is a kid.

That's great news for you - save the $$ and let the 13 yo have a special meal of her choice or a special 'adult' souvenier (like jewelry or something) with the saved money.

I wouldn't try to get her to do it or anything - it sounds to me like she's a very reasonable young woman. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't have a problem with a 13 yo who WANTED to do it - having it done, but since she feels more mature than that...I'd not discourage that.

I have to agree with your DD. There is no way my DD would have gone there when she was 13 and she is 15 now.

If you want to do something special for her hair--how about a hair wrap? that would be more appropriate for a teen.

Thirteen is a hard age. They really are still childlike but they want so desperately to be grown up. They are so worried about appearances at that age and how they are going to look to others. I saw BBB when we went on our last trip, and I have to agree that it does look like it is for little kids. I am sure I would have refused to do it as a 13 year old.

We told her it is up to her. But i think it is what you said about wondering what others will think if they see her in there. We told her it is up to her and we would'nt be upset if she did'nt want to

I believe the ages for this are 4-12 but, if she wants to I would tell her not to worry about what other people think. It is a good lesson imo. Otherwise they have a very cute jewelry section in the other part of the store. Maybe she could get something shiny.

Last Oct, my DD-15, her best friend-15 and my little sister-25 went to BBB. They just did the hair and makeup and were treated GREAT. I asked the manager if they were the oldest girls to come in and she told me most certainly not, they've had bridal parties and older women, etc. The girls wore their sashes and hairdo's to MGM and 50's Prime Time Cafe and were complimented by everybody! They had a great time with it.

If your DD likes a lot of attention, then go for it. If she's shy, then maybe not.

Yup lots of older people go and get this done! but let her decide on her own, don't pressure her and who knows she just may do it

Your DD is not to old for BBB infact I have an appt in Sept to do this w/ my DD and I am 25. The only thing that she is to old for is to wear a costume in the parks. Checkout the link in my sig for the BBB thread that has pics and info on people of all ages who have and will be doing it.

My DD is 12 and would never go for it either. She is at that age where something like that would embarras her. Us adults may do it because we are past the stage where we care what others think. Instead, maybe something that would apease her more. My dd just likes to buy stuff....pins for her lanyard, a new purse, a cool new outfit. You know how girls are when they are teenagers!

I totally agree. Our DD13 is in that in between stage as well. I would let your daughter decide for herself about BBB and just go along with her decision.

She isn't too old if she wanted to go but fwiw my 12yo would have no part of it either. I originally made a reservation for both my 12yo and my 10yo because I thought my 12yo may change her mind. About a month prior to the trip I cancelled my 12yo's reservation because she really didn't want to go.

My 10yo loved it and had a wonderful time but after having done it I know my 12yo would not have enjoyed the experience.

My dh took the 12yo to rent water mice, bicycle around the resort, to lunch and to the arcade for a while. It worked out so we all had some 1-1 time with a parent/kid and everyone was very happy.

well, I am 33 and had it done to myself in Jan! Now, I didn't book it myself....short story...my then boyfriend booked it for me and then afterwards we went to the MK. I felt a little odd I must say with my tiara and all. but, then we went to cinderellas wishing well and he proposed! He said the whole reason for the BBB appt. was so I would feel like princess that day. and of course, I said yes!!!

If I understand the OP correctly the girl wants to do BBB but thinks it isn't allowed. If she wants to have her hair and nails done she certainly may! I think the age guidelines only refer to the package that includes the costume. My 15 year old DD had her hair done at BBB the week before Easter and loved it! (Photos posted in the thread in cancer_survivor_06's sig) Now if she doesn't want to do it I wouldn't make her but that wasn't how I understood the post.

There is no age limit for BBB. My MIL is 60 and went. We all had a blast. I am sure that there are still a few out there that haven't seen my family photo so I'll show it again
