12yr/6th grd from middle school died last night!

details coming home with the kids this afternoon
grief counselors at middle school today
girl went into hospital last night complaining of stomach pains and died
no cause till autopsy is done
she has a blood disorder so was suspectible to germs

I gotta hug DS when he gets here today

just found out this girl was from DSs class

DH works with the girls uncle. They were in their morn meeting and DH found out. Didnt connect it was the same girl until I told DH there was a girl from DSs school

I've got a dd in 6th grade. I can't imagine...I'm going to hug my girls tonight.

thats so sad. a little kid i babysit had one of his classmates die last year in a car accident. her older sister went through a stop sign because she thought she could make it and another car that was going fifty hit her and the little girl died. it was really hard on poor matt. he wasnt the same for the longest time. he was really good friends with her and not even now does he look at her house the same or anything. its really sad. major hugs and wishes to your son.

that is so sad. my dn's classmate 6-7yrs old was attacked by her grandparents dog when they were out walking in the woods. She screamed when she saw a lizard/newt and the dog went crazy. The little girl was not able to survive the attack. I felt so bad for the little girl and the grandparents who must feel responsible.

Hope your son's class will be able to deal with their feelings of grief and loss.

This is so sad. I'm glad they've brought in grief counselers. I lost two classmates to drowning when I was in 4th grade. Not only did they not have things like grief counselers then, our parents and teachers couldn't bring themselves to talk about it to us. It made it so much worse. Encourage your DS to talk about his feelings, now and especially in the next few months when it seems everything has gotten back to normal. That's when my best friend and I felt the worst because it was almost like our 2 friends had never been there and we had lots of nightmares then.
