I am trying to keep my inner geek in check, but I am so counting the hours until 12 noon tomorrow. www.disney.com/23

I am really hoping that if this is the new Disney geek fan/loyalty program that it's rumored to be that I can afford to join.

What is this about? I can't wait to find out! I'm a disney geek.....I hope I qualify. I don't even know what it is and I hope I qualify...that's how u know you are a disney geek!

Hm.

I have to say this kind of pisses me off.

I'm a life-long Disney geek (as are most of you), and I was an avid fan of the Disney Magazine. When they cancelled the Disney Magazine I was pissed -- they offered the "consolation prize" of the freaking "Family Fun" magazine, or some such lame replacement. I was insulted, and rejected the magazine on principle. I've seen that magazine, and it HARDLY was a replacement for my Disney Magazine, which fed my addiction.

For them to come out with a freaking MAGAZINE and tease us for MONTHS with a damn "are you 23" marketing campaign is an ****ing INSULT. I am so freaking pissed I can hardly spell.

Give me a damn break. I HAD a Disney magazine, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. and Disney apparently decided it wasn't profitable considering the various online information sources available.

In the meantime, several print magazines have emerged and SUCCEEDED. HUH. Maybe THAT'S why Disney has taken a second glance at the magazine print market?

call me PISSED. :headache:

I'd like to add that I subscribed to THREE magazines after the Disney Magazine was cancelled. And I'm enjoying them very much.

Will I be subscribing to the new Disney 23?

Um. NO.

I've read a little about it. I don't know about $16 for a magazine. Will be interesting to see, in a random sort of way.

From the photo's I've seen online about the new magazine, it's not really a magazine, but more of a quarterly coffee table book. High gloss, glued not stapled, heavy stock paper with amazing photo's and articles. It's not like picking up an issue of Rolling Stone or something. It's a bit nicer then that.

The membership cards inside mention when and where to sign up for the yearly membership, which will include membership card, certificate, artwork, website, collectibles, two membership pins and discounts to the Disney EXPO which happens in September. Plus other stuff.

I called Barnes and Noble down the street and they're holding me a copy for me to pick up today at noon.

It's not like 16 bucks 4 times a year is going to break me. Heck, I've spent THAT times 20 on pins during one visit to Disneyland. I never new about any of the previous magazines, so I have nothing to compare them to other then the one that's now produced from AllEars.

Only thing I'm curious about is what the membership will cost and if it's affordable or not.

Dang I was hoping for something cool. :guilty:
Big. :guilty:
More wow factor. :guilty:

I think D23 is a total rip-off. I might get the magazine, but that's it. Shame on Disney for doing this.

I too am dissapointed. A co-worker and I were discussing this yesterday...BOTH of us excited...needless to say, it's a huge letdown. :sad1:

... and discounts to the Disney EXPO which happens in September.

Doesn't this sound like the old Disneyana Conventions they stopped sponsoring about 7 years ago? They were always the first week of September also! It's funny how Disney 'restarts' something they used to do, then pawns it off as "NEW"!

The thing that I am most cheezed about right now is that I am at lunch until 1:00pm and the website won't load from my work computer. :headache:

Yep. Totally underwhelmed here. The best part of 23 was the hype leading up to the not so stellar reveal. :confused3

Well, I guess I wasn't expecting something HUGE from Disney, that was going to blow us completely away. I figured it would be something along these lines I guess. The cost of becoming a charter member is 74.99. That's a tad bit less then what you would pay for the 4 issues alone. Guess I will join since I'm going to get all the issues anyway. Actually picked up the 1st issue over lunch because I couldn't wait. I'll give the other one we'll receive as a gift to a fellow disneynut.

We'll see how many limited or exclusive items they offer in Boutique 23. They have some pins, which of course we'll probably buy. Damn addiction.

Well that didn't take long. The site has already crashed due to too many visitors. :lmao:

At least I'm already a member.

Don't judge me.....
