12/9/06 DISGeek DD Trip Report

One of our favorite things about cruising has been our "tablemates". The people we have shared dinner with on our cruises have been great. Some of them we still keep in touch with even 5 years later.

Also, the waiters who served us have been a part of the great experience of cruising. It is great to see some of the wait staff from previous cruises and catch up on their lives.

This was the first year where we only had one other couple with us at dinner. I was a little concerned about running out of things to say to each other but I was wrong. David and Pat (David is Vanessa's dad who is one of our DISBoard friends) were really nice to sit with at dinner. We had a great time.

Have I said have much I loved cruising on the Magic at Christmas? The ship is always beautiful but dressed in her Christmas finest she is absolutely gorgeous!

Taking pictures during this time was a highlight for me. For this particular shot we had one of our DISBoard friends take this shot of both of us. This will make a good Christmas card.

One of our goals was to have a different experience on this cruise. What is more different than .......

a wedding!

One of the DISBoard friends told us in the fall that she was getting married onboard this cruise. The orginal plans were for the aft deck with all of us looking down from above but the weather was not cooperating. The wedding took place in Sessions

Of course some of us DIS Geeks were there. Bobby the Banana also came to the wedding. This may be the start of another trip report starring Bobby.

Annette even came in with the bride and took some pictures before she came out. She is always the helpful one. Annette also helped her with her dress.

We have bubbles to shower them with with as they left. Lisa's daughter and I had some fun playing with the left over bubbles.

The last posting for today is about Pirate Night. To fully understand what this was like for the DISGeeks you need to read some of our thread.

This picture was taken of our whole group ..... one great bunch of pirates and wenches! Aaaaaarrrrrhhhh!

We had our own Captain Jack Sparrow in our group ..... who we all know is far more a real Captain Jack Sparrow than the one DCL had. This picture is me as Mr. Gibbs with Will Turner (aka Andy) and the Captain (aka Todd).

Annette and I had a great time on Pirate Night with our DISBoard friends. We look forward to future cruises and meets with these wonderful people.

I have been very, very slack in keeping this thread going. I plan to do better.

This is our door for the cruise. I spent a lot of time making the 8x10 magnetic pictures plus the other decorations. When we joined the DVC while on the cruise they gave us the round magnets that I used as Mickey ears. The stocking came from Lisa. We love making our door stand out.

How is the weather in December? We are thinking of going November 29-December 6 next year and I am just concerned about the temps. Is it warm enough to swim in the pools and the ocean?

I like the weather in December. It can get cool at night (sometimes cold) but we don't use the pools that much anyway. A jacket or coat is all you need extra after dark.

I just realized that this was my cruise trip report so the answer is that the weather is really great for swimming in the pool and ocean in the Caribbean! Although even on the ship we don't use the pools that much either. Castaway Cay can get chilly if the weather goes in that direction but it usually does not.

we did a christmas cruise..2002, wows, thats over 4years ago. i
thought it was interesting...you made mentioned, getting belle in
her christmas dress....that year we saw her....prior to our cruise @
mvmcp, but it was as we were leaving..& all i had was a disposable.
[it got lost-or never came out]..* just recently..i developed a roll, it
was from 1994... . ok-someone not as organized as
others.


, i can't tell how many times i have enjoyed your pics.
on the cruise pic./ of the day. what a library of special memories
you have for your family to enjoy. plus,i think you give alot of us
"rookies"..splendid ideas.
