12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

Oh LORD...I don't know exactly. At least World of Warcraft with me, he's played the other Warcraft titles, Starcraft, Diablo, I think Counter Strike? Doom? Duke Nukem?

He says "mostly first person shooters and real time strategy" games.

He's bringing his Nintendo DS with him for when we're relaxing by the pool and I have a book.

I play World of Warcraft partly because it's a social thing and partly to play with him, and grew up playing the Sim/Maxis games (the Sims came around later, I'm not a huge fan). We've played World of Warcraft with some of the same people for over three years...some of them we've met at Disney, even, when they came down for vacation or conferences. One of the girls we play with is a Cast Member, even!

And I am BOUNCING off the walls - people keep coming up to me and saying they're sorry about my job, but I'm all smiles! I did get a call from a headhunter, so that's positive.

Haircuts tomorrow, DH made me keep my manicure and pedicure appts on Thursday. We have one last time at the gym tonight, I'm making sure the fridge is cleaned out enough. Printing out my charts Thursday. Filling up the MP3 player with good music. Passports are in the front pocket of my roll-on. I'm terrified we're going to show up and something will be wrong with them.

Sounds like you're all set, Joy! So organized!

Mine like Halo and the Star Wars games (Republic or something like) ... and my husband also plays first person thug-type games like Grand Theft Auto and some others that I forget right now. My son loves Nintendo but it's all about Pokemon and Kirby and stuff. His surprise goodie bag will have a Club Penguin game in it -- I am hoping he will be surprised.

I have no time for a pedicure so I will have to slap some nail polish on myself... bonus is that I can use that money toward another spa treatment on the ship!

Oh, did I mention I sold $300 of my scrap supplies at a garage sale last weekend, and we just found out our property tax was reassessed due to declining market values so there is another $500! Whheeeeee...

Now, speaking of extra money....My husband's family is on the verge of cancelling Christmas gifts this year. Everyone is broke. I am all for that -- we can give everyone trinkets from vacation but I do not want anyone spending money they don't have to give me something I probably won't use. (They are generally terrible shoppers for us... not to sound ungrateful, but we tend to buy what we want and we're very hard to shop for, outside of gift cards). I told my mother-in-law that we should just ditch the gifts, do a potluck and hang out together. I feel bad that we "appear" as though we have all this money with going on the cruise, and I have been very busy with photography (which would lead them to believe I'm making alot of money at it)... but like many of you have read... my job/industry is in precarious times and we're not blind to the potential loss and my side business is not without its own sacrifices (plus I spent alot of startup money on it this year)... BUT my in-laws have always been very poor money managers and they are always broke because they always spend beyond their means. Whew... sorry - didn't mean to go off on a tangent there!

Joy and all,, have a great trip, and thanks again for all you have done!! I am really looking forward to you and everyone else!!

I am feeling VERY inadequate after reding these posts....Really? Seven pairs of shoes? OY!! I am going to pale in comparison to everyone else!! :rotfl: I am happy if I can get away with two fancies, filp flops and sandals!!!:yay: I am going to have to re-think my packing!!

Thanks for all the info on the prices, I wouldn't have even thought to look!!pirate:

I'm bringing three pairs including the ones I'm wearing.

Originally from FOREVER42:
I think at this point I'm nervous as heck about table mates - we've had some bad ones at the parks before (one couple talking about Nazis at Biergarten :scared1: )

YIKES!!! What do you say to something like that?!? Oh, to be a fly on the wall !!!:rotfl2:

LOL!

It was AMAZING, really...we were at Biergarten, and THOUGHT we had a nice couple next to us...she was our age (mid 20s) and he was our fathers' age (mid 50s) and owned hotels in Las Vegas, sugar daddy we figured. Had a nice chat. Then he says to the girl..."you can see it in their EYES. They still think they're the master race!"

DH and I: :scared1:

And we slightly scooted away and then got dessert. She looked like she wanted to crawl into a hole and die, poor thing.

And Joy, I'm with you on the money thing - I feel guilty talking about spending all this money on a luxury now, but we've saved for a long time and the cruise itself is nonrefundable. We're cutting back here and there, but still, we're going to go have a blast.

(And I can only bring this many shoes since we're driving from an hour away...no way would I lug all this stuff on a plane!)

Ok.. we're ready to leave!
Everything is packed. I filled up a medium suitcase and put that on in a larger one.

Gotta go now..(5) catch the plane to Curacao.. pick up 2.. then to Miami.. pick up 1.. then to Orlando.. meet with 4 and wait for another 5.. on the 6th to the cruise.. leaving 3 behind. :grouphug: That's 14 happy cruisers with very weird accent on the Magic.

Pixie pixiedust: to you all and see you guys on board!

aloha,
Just talked to DCL an requested the 8:30 seating. We like that rotation plus on the 3rd and 6th night well be eating at Palo's an Parrot Cay is the least favorite for us. It's probably the bright colors and loudness of the dining room that bothers us.
We love to sit with other people. We have been lucky with the people DCL has put us with.
Just got to buy some sun tan oil for my wife and some snack for the plane and for our flight crew.

Have a great day:santa:

Basil Fox is a gamer. I am sure he will post what he plays after work today. He built his computer (I am really proud of him for that). Do I sould like a mother, or what?
I guess I need to look at the Weather Channel to see what is in store for Michigan on Friday. DH is dropping me at the airport at 7 a.m. MinL comes in at 10:30 from Indiana. We wait until 1:30 to fly to Orlando. The boys (DH and Basil Fox) get on a plane at 7:30 and get in at 9:30. Talk about trying to keep up with all of this is a headache.
I am bringing 3 pair of shoes. SAS on the feet, slippers and dress shoes. Basil Fox forgot to tell you that in addition to ALL the shoes he is bringing he also rented tux shoes so that makes his total up to a "Zillion." My Mother (RIP) was a "shoe person." Both my boys LOVE shoes. Must be genetic.....
Off to do a few errands and tonight I will try to get everything in the proper suitcases. Starting 2 days early so I will be done by Friday.......Did find all the magnets I need for the door so at least that is done. Basil did a FABULOUS job with all the door designs (Proud Mom, again).
Joy, when we get to the Port and find you for the bracelets I want to pay you for them and ALSO pay you for the Cruise Booklet! Figure out what that costs and I will give you BOTH amounts.
Passport tip: I read somewhere that you need to make a copy of your Passport to take when going OFF the boat so that the original stays in the safe in your room.....
Dining Rotation: I hope I did not stir something up but the guy I talked to told me that we had 8:30. Watch, that will change when we get to the terminal. AT least the DR for those three times are right.
Dining Partners: I wish we could get together somehow and request some DIS'ers to be our partners. We are a family of 4 but I would LOVE to have some of you all for dining conversations. After all...we ALL are ::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :ccat: :donald: :sulley: :tigger: :tink: :hmghost: :smickey: :mickeyjum :earsboy: Disney Geeks!
Off to do errands. Safe Journeys to anyone traveling today.
Just a thought: Who will be the LAST person to post on this forum? My last post of the Countdown will be in the "WEE" hours of Friday morning. Probably about 4:30 a.m.
Have a Magical :wizard: Tuesday. LD

Another newbie question...

I just saw a brochure photo of a Mickey Mouse 'statue' underwater (I assume it's at Castaway Cay). Is this hard to find? Has anyone taken photos of it (or know of a link with photos?). Do you have to be on an excursion to get there?

Thanks

Okay you all shamed me into it....I will bring a pair of SAS Sandals. That brings my total shoes up to 4.
Someone mentioned they are flying to Curacao first. I went to that cit on a Royal Caribbean Cruise in about 1978 or 9. What a BEAUTIFUL city:thumbsup2 . I was really impressed. Disney should add that as a destination.
Off to do errands.....:wizard: LD

It's very hard to find because it's gone. It was replaced recently with Minnie Mouse who is pretty easy to find. Just go in the snorkel course on Castaway Cay. She is in an area closest to the family beach but as far away from the ship in the snorkel course as you can go. Sorry, I don't have a chance to get a picture for you.

As for passports, you won't need them or a copy when you get off the ship. Just an ID and your Key to the World card. You can bring a copy with you, but it is not needed. I would not recommend bringing your original off the ship (except when you leave of course).

Bought another pair of shoes today! I'm getting excited, but work is quite stressful. As for gaming, I built my own gaming rig and it rawks.

Okay off to the gym.

Safe travels everyone.

[/SIZEWednesday and Thursday to go.....2 days to Orlando and 3 to the Magic!!!!!!!!!!]
Can the time be this close? Is anyone else feeling the giddiness:lmao: , the excitement:goodvibes and the lack of attention:confused3 to anything else but packing???????
Ipod is all set and charged up. Palm Pilot is Synched and ready. Phone is on the charger so it can be used up to the departure. Electronics are a go...Did LAST trip to Target and Walmart. Found Mad Hatter Hat. Now to find some MM Ears. I want the Pirate ones so will try to locate them at the Orlando Airport in one of the Disney Stores (there are 2 there). Is anyone else bringing and wearing Ears? If so, what kind?????
Tomorrow is Laundry:laundy: and Packing Central. Will try to sew dress:rotfl2: ....it is looking doubtful, though.
Can't believe that I read that Basil Fox bought ANOTHER pair of shoes:rolleyes1 .......That will make a Zillion plus One!!!!!!
Good Journeys to Everyone who is traveling tomorrow. Happiness to our Newlyweds. :bride: :groom:
Have a Magical :wizard: Wednesday! princess: ::MinnieMo :ccat: LD:cheer2: :Pinkbounc

We leave for the airport in 1 hour :scared1: Kept thinking of things last night that we forgot to pack as I was falling asleep (only 4 hours ago). I'm so glad I can sleep on the plane. See you all onboard! Safe travels everyone :cheer2: :cheer2:

LOL Disney Lady.....you are way, way too organized!! I could only wish!! I still have stuff in piles everywhere. Although have finially found pretty much everything I was looking for. I did manage to get tommorow off....thankfully. So tommorow will be my packing day since we leave early the following morning. Hopefully we will have everything!! Hope everyone's travels are safe. Looking forward to meeting you all!!

It's great to hear that some of you have left already!!

Disney Lady, DH and I are wearing "beachy" ears that we found on sale earlier this year! I considered wearing my "bride" ears...we ARE celebrating our honeymoon, but it's two years later (darn it, I didn't have a wedding, I didn't have a honeymoon right after, this is my honeymoon  ) and I'm not sure if I'd look weird or not. :(

If we were going to the parks before Friday, I'd offer to pick you up a pair! But tonight is hair cuts, tomorrow is nails, and packing in between.

Today is the 6 year anniversary of my mom's passing, so we're having a quiet evening after our haircuts tonight.

And please ignore the fact that I'm posting in the "drinking" thread over there :rolleyes1

Edit: oh, and I know most of you guys are looking forward to lobster night, but I'm vegetarian - and the veggie dish that night has me DROOLING:

"Blue Cheese and Asparagus Risotto. With Celery and Roasted Walnut Loaf"

That sounds heavenly!

(DH doesn't like seafood, but he's not veggie - so we'll be the only party without a lobster tail that night ;) )

We had trouble printing off our on line stuff last year. It blacks it all out, especially the immigration part. Guess will will have to fill that in at that the terminal again.

Have a question , I was looking at our tickets that came and it says embarking time is 1:00 didn't it used to be 12:00 . I know you can't get in your room until 1:30.

Also notice were were giving main seating for dinner , do they still do the three times or is this 6:30 ?

It is coming fast now. I have a service guy coming to fix my dryer today and other guy picking something up but didn't give me a time. Plus my kids Christmas mass is today at school which if the first two don't come on time I will miss and my dd is singing in the choir and really wanted me to be there.

Ok ranting over.

pixiedust: for the travelers today.

Um, lobster night? When (or where) is that? I'm not a seafood eater either, but DM will like it I'm sure.

Disney Lady - I am bringing my POTC ears (it has a maroon colored scarf and large hoop earring). But, I haven't decided if I will wear them or not... I still feel like a rookie.

I think my plane is scheduled to take off in about 49 hours... I hope it isn't foggy... my connection time in Houston is only 56 minutes.

I think like someone else said in another thread, the 1pm time is just to be safe - they usually start letting people on around 11:45.

And there are still three times, so it's whichever times early dinner is...which I don't remember exactly :(

It's on Thursday, the last at-sea day, the Captain's Gala menu :)

Bon voyage everyone! We are heading off to the airport in about a half hour. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but oh well. Weather in FL looks FABULOUS for the next few days until day after we embark - so PERFECT!

I'll see you all in the terminal :)

Thanks, glad to hear that since we will be at the terminal early.

If main is the first one it is 6:00. We have cruised 4 other times and never had early before....thought we wanted it but not sure now. We were on a wait list I believe so we got it what we asked for.

I am still knee deep in piles. We are deciding if we should go get new luggage that is the right size for the airline. Don't want to get there and have to pay more money because the suitcase is too big.
