12/29/07 Western - New Year's Eve

I think it must be that most people don't know about the DIS. I haven't been logged on as much lately because I've been extremely busy with school activities. I'm a career volunteer that doesn't say "no" very well! LOL

Anyway, I do think people are busier than normal and many just don't have time for this, and if they do have extra time, they don't necessarily want to be on their computer, you know?

I know I have enjoyed meeting everyone and it will be fun to meet face to face (hopefully we will get a chance to), after talking for all these months!
I can't believe we're so close.....

Have a great day!

We have booked the 12/29/07 Western, the New Year's Eve Cruise!
:woohoo: I will have just turned 40 in October and DH will be two months shy of 40. The cruise falls right in between our 40th birthdays! :teeth:
We will also have along our dd who will be 12 and ds will be 10. We are stayng in a Cat. 6 stateroom, a slight bit forward, on the port side, #6048.
Anyone else coming along? :sunny:

We also booked this cruise, although we were wavering between the Xmas and NYE cruises -- but I paid in full today, so this is the one!

Has anyone made a list of everyone from the DIS boards on this cruise so far?

I bet a lot of people aren't piping in yet because it's such an expensive cruise and the balance isn't due for another week.

I look forward to meeting you all! We had an amazing DIS get together on our last Disney cruise (2/2006) and would love to have another one. It will be me, my dh, and my 2 girls (7 and almost 5).

Welcome Marcy!! Our dd's will be just about the same age! My dd turns 7 when we get back - later in January. She will be excited to meet some new friends!

Agreed -- Even booking the excursions and so on, many Palo's slots are still open, etc. and I would expect that if a lot of return cruisers were going, that there would be more options already filled up.

At the same time, the cruise is fully booked...

Hmm

Well back to work I go.

-- JimV

That is an interesting fact since I haven't checked back since we booked our original excursions. It will be interesting if any of the original posters come back right before the cruise and post.

I remember those days well!! Being an empty nester now, I treasure my free time and don't miss all the "volunteer hours". I am sure your school and kids appreciate all the time you share with them. Look forward to meeting you all on the cruise!!

Welcome aboard Marcy!!

We don't have a list going yet as this list has been pretty quiet. I hope that after October 15th when the last payment are due that we will get busier here.

Welcome!! It looks like we will have a few DIS kids in the 5-7 year old group in the club. It should be fun.

Welcome Marcy!

May I ask, WiscBill, how do you pronounce your hometown? Kwongee?

90 days from now, I will be home. Going through all of my pictures, writing up a trip report and wishing I was back on board

Hmmm -- need to order flowers for our room to surprise DW :flower3:

(Seeing the smiley panel reminded me of that)

Life is so crazy right now some days I gasp for air and think, "how can it NOT be the Holiday Season yet??"

Looking forward to the NYE cruise is the thing that's keeping me going!

Wish I had more time to check in and comment, but I'm keeping up every other week or so.

Keep talking, everyone!

Maybe we should all repost our info, i.e. ages of kids etc. so we can make a master list!!

Being an empty nester, I probably have more time than many of the posters here but I do remember being a very busy working Mom!!

I can't believe the cruise is almost finally here!!

"May I ask, WiscBill, how do you pronounce your hometown? Kwongee?"

Close. It's "Kwog", long O. The Native American place names out here all have a "que" sound in them. Makes me mist Occonomowoc in Wisconsin.

Since I was waiting for a doctor's appointment, I have composed the following top ten reasons that people are not posting to this meeting board:

:goodvibes

10. Prefer to be on the Looney Tunes Cruise Line.
9. Think they are on the 2008 New Years Eve Cruise
8. Still waiting in line to see Soaring at EPCOT
7. Needed more time to develop their Stitch avatars
6. Switched their reservations to the new ships in 2012
5. Love DCL so much, they can’t understand why anyone would dis it.
4. Can’t decide if starboard is left or right
3. Thought POC:At World’s End was terrible and cancelled their reservations
2. Only people in suites can post before 105 days out; Castaway Club members 90 days.
1. They are posting, but Birkner’s husband introduced a virus on the boards that make them appear as her posts.

Noel..
I can start with my info - if you are keeping track. :)

I will be happy to start the list. Could I also have both of you and your DH first name and your children's first names? Also, the first names of your sister in laws children.

John and I were talking at dinner last night about the lack of posts on this board in comparison to my WB Panama Canal thread.

One of the reasons may be that many people booked the 2008 cruises at the same time right after they announced they would be open for booking on January 231, 2007.

On the both the EB and WB Panama Canal thread everyone was posting even before the date opened up for booking that they were hopeful to be booked on the cruise. Such an excitement was generated that those that were successful in being booked have stayed active over the last 9 months evidenced by the (to date) 31,406 posts on the WB and 76,721 posts on the EB thread.

The same thing happened for the 2008 NYE thread. Aisling booked the cruise on 1/31/07 and many other DIS members who cruised NYE 2006 are joining that cruise. They have 2,241 posts to date.

Just my thoughts.

Sure! Sorry 'bout that! LOL

Me: Stacy
DH: Dave
DD: Caitlin

Sis in laws 2 kids:
girl (10) - Tallie
boy (4) - Andrew

:thumbsup2 Thanks!!
