12/29/07 Western - New Year's Eve

hi guys i have a question/favor that i would like to ask

we were on a cruise in october and i made some really good friends and we hung out on deck 6 midship

lets just say ALOT!

i was wondering if someone could get a picture or two of that area

let me know please

by the way im 13 in case you were wondering and my name is rachel :rotfl:

Mike (halfan) offered to bring some wine from his home state to the get together. If anyone else wants to bring wine, beer or any other type of libation, it would be most welcome.

We have had about 70 persons on the thread respond to coming to the get together so I am not sure what people want to drink so I will just order an assortment of sodas, water etc along with the cheese and fruit plates.

Any other suggestions are most welcome!!

Can you bring your own wine on the ship? I thought I read it somewhere that you couldn't. If I can figure out how to fly with it, I'll bring some from our area... Temecula has a lot of good vineyards! I read some article that said if you mark a package "Fragile" some of the luggage handlers at the airport think that's an open invitation to make it target practice. I know I can't get it on the plane by carry on. hmmm... I'll look into it. We'll figure out something. Even if it's buying a couple of buckets of Corona's on deck and carrying them down.

Still no cruise docs for us. Better be here tomorrow!

I don't think that marking a package Fragile makes the package targeted. I think marking the package means that the contents are more easily broken.

I have been in the security line where someone has passed out cups and was pouring wine because they had this exceptional bottle they had carried onboard, but needed to part with it because of security regulations.

If you tell a winery that you are traveling via plane they will package a case for you, or you could opt to have it FedEx'd to the ship, although with the holidays that would have to happen pretty quick.

But as many of you long-time posters to this thread know, I am all about reducing my decision and stress-points regarding this vacation. I almost went catatonic thinking about having to make a Fish Extender and populating them with gifts. ;)

Besides, Ann and I aren't drinkers outside of my VERY occasional glass of wine (1-2 times per year max), so I wouldn't know what I would bring. An exceptional vintage of Diet Coke from home? Some Vernors Ginger Ale (it's a Michigan thing)? Nope. I will contribute something that ships easily, I can take through security without a problem, and will help out birkner. Hmmm.
That does give me an idea for a hostess gift though... :santa:

Looking forward to being on the ship with my family and meeting y'all.

Now off to work I go.:surfweb:

Hey All,

Dropping by just for a second. Noel, you should have your shirts on Mon. and everyone else probably Tues. It just seems that time is sneaking up faster than I can keep up. DH went back this past Wed. and had an epidural and is suppose to go back the 20th and the 26th. So we won't be able to leave until the evening of the 26th. But everyone have a Merry Christmas from our family to yours!!

Last time when we visited the Roy Suite, they did have chocolate covered strawberries. Goes good with wine. We will do our best to pack a bootle of Long Island wine in the luggage for the party.

Jim V: All of the midwest know's about Vernor's. Definitely better than Canada Dry.

We had an ice storm here yesterday, so no documents yet.

Hi all! Glad you all got your doc's! Means mine should be here soon! They come FedEx right? Do you have to sign for them?? There isn't usally anyone home at my house during the day.. so hoping if i have to sign they come early am..
We had a heck of a snow storm yesterday , so everything is out of whack -- and it's that heavy, slushy junk... about 8" or more.. i am so tired of shoveling.. glad to be at work and just "relaxing" with my computer and jimmy buffet playing again.. LOL Also, thankful that this snowstorm wasn't on the day we were going to be leaving!!
Also, glad our Hannah Montana concert wasn't LAST night (it's next Thurs), b/c i have no idea if / how we would have made it.. Thank God.

I agree totally about the baggage handlers and marking things fragile!!

Wineries and our local Bev Mo will package their wines for transport which I have put in my checked luggage. However, a couple of buckets of Corona's I am sure would be just as welcome!! Please do whatever is easiest!!

VERNORS GINGER ALE!! What fond memories I have of Vernors in a glass bottle. We can get it only out here in can's and it just doesn't taste the same. I don't drink any other kind of soda except for ginger ale.

My mother also use to bring us tins of Better Made Potato Chips. I guess they don't come in tins anymore!!

Jim, anything is welcome so don't stress!!

We are also looking forward to meet you and your family.

Our documents came Fed Ex from the TA. Are you getting yours from TA or DCL direct? Often times if it is a home delivery, Fed Ex will just leave on your front porch but you might want to check!!

YUCK about all the snow. Glad your concert wasn't last night. Next Thursday is my birthday and just think in six days, I will be flying to WDW. Temps from hotel email:
Thursday 12/20 Mostly sunny - High 74 / Low 57
Friday 12/21 Mostly sunny - High 76 / Low 54

I will be meeting up with a friend and we are doing the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party of 12/21!!

Going to be packing and organizing this weekend with DH. DD Samantha went to Los Angeles with her friend Claire so they can have early Xmas with their respective boyfriends at USC.

I got my doc's today!!! My MIL called me at work today and told me that they got theirs, so i assumed ours would be at home waiting for us as well.........
ahhhhhhhhhhhh... 2 weeks from now i will be settling down in the MCO Hayatt getting ready to drift off to sleep in the warm weather....

One week from today I will be having a blast at the Very Merry Mickey Christmas party!!

Docs arrived tonight. We had DD open them since she had been asking when we were going to take a cruise again for quite awhile. Even this morning she looked at the DCL ornament (signed by Captain Tom) and asked if we could go again. Although she was happy to be going on the cruise, she was a little disappointed that all that was in there was a bunch of paper. I think I am on the hook now for one of those special welcoming gifts they have listed on the insert.:confused3

And in two weeks, I will be recovering from the free happy hour at the Embassy Suites at the Orlando Airport.

We are still assigned to second seating, so I will have to get to the port early to get an early boarding group to change it. Otherwise, it will be the buffet for us.

Two weeks from today we will be at Epcot for dinner in England and than the Candlelight Processional :santa: :santa:

Hope you had better luck than we did. DW and I did the dinner package with the Candlelight Procession several years ago. It poured rain the entire time and Disney would not let anyone sit undercover (or use umbrellas even though the seats were empty and supposedly reserved for the people who had bought the dinner package.)  It was the only time I went to Guest Services and asked for my money back. Disney gave it back to us and about 100 other very unhappy guests after waiting in line about 45 minutes. Definitely not a magic memory.

Kids are sure funny!! I loved the welcoming gifts to for our cruise but haven't decided if we are going to do any of them yet.

We are on second seating as we are from California and no matter how much time passes, 8:30 PM is still 5:30 PM California time.

I can't even imagine how upset our family would have been if we had to stand out in the rain!! I agree I would have stayed in line for 45 minutes to get my money back!!

2 weeks from today - about now -- we will all be arriving at the DCL terminal!!!! Whooohoooo!!

Two weeks from today about now, we will be boarding the Magic and heading for the buffett. We are taking FL tours from the resort as we won't need a car after the cruise!!

See you soon!

John and I have been packing and weighing suitcases all day. We have tons of electronic gizmos so we have to keep changing suitcases. Our heaviest suitcase weighed 66 pounds so we had to partially upack and repack. Since we are gone for almost three weeks (including CES) we are taking more clothes than we normally take on a trip.
