12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Just taking a break to check in. My babies turned 16 today. I'm having mixed emotions about it. Ready for them to grow up and move out, yet wish they were little again too.:rotfl2: Got the cake baked, and cooling, presents all wrapped, flowers and balloons in place. We're taking them out to dinner after swim practice, then coming home for the rest of the festivities.

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I haven't been around much. Just busy around here. Getting ready to head to Dallas on Wed. We'll be back Friday, then off to Norman to cheer on our high school football team in the state semi finals. Then a week or so to rest up before I have to seriously get busy packing for WDW and the cruise.

Please tell me none of you are all packed and ready to walk out the door?:rotfl2:

Hope you all have a happy birthday:thumbsup2

Nope, no cruise docs here yet either. I hope one of the adults is home when they come. I don't want the kids to see the return address!! :scared1: My plan would be RUINED!!!! I think I have a good plan for the reveal....:thumbsup2

Nope, not packed here yet either. Brenda, what time do you guys come in? Maybe I can still swing over and say "Howdy!" And when are you going to Grapevine Mills?

Oh I hope you manage to keep it secret (darn mail lol) that would be so great!

Me too! I've already alerted DH. We're trying to think of an excuse to tell them should it scream "YOUR CRUISE DOCS ARE HERE" on the outside.

Hey guys,
Just a quick post to let you know we are heading out toward Dallas. And to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving!

I don't know if you have already left or have access to this but the rain is coming Thursday evening. Hopefully it will miss the game! :cheer2:

 :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

Just got my Palo Brunch on our At Sea Day

Brunch and Dinner on our first ever cruise.....I feel the blessing of the gods :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

:cheer2: :dance3: :woohoo:

Congrats Courtney.:yay: We are also doing brunch on sea day!!!

Here is a little Disney to get you in the mood!

What time is your brunch? Ours is currently 10 am...a little early but maybe I can change it.

Thanks for the "little Disney"!! It is so beautiful. I can't believe the kids chose Universal this time around and we are going to miss the parks at Disney for Christmas. Going again during Christmas is going to be hard to do with DH's schedule. :sad1: And then DD will be in college before you know it. When do they put up the Christmas decorations at WDW? Perhaps I can plan for 2010/2011....:surfweb:

We are booked from 12:00 to 1:30pm. With the time difference that is 10:00 am our time. No rope drops all sleep on this trip!!:cool1:

We are only doing one park for one day while there. We decided on MGM so the kids can see the lights. We won't even see the castle. We saw it last year at Disneyland. I swear I am coming back from this trip rested. Usually I am more tired when I come home than when we left.;)

I figured you would probably be later due to the time change. I don't plan on any rope drops either. Didn't do it last time but it felt like it.

I love Disney's Hollywood Studios :lovestruc (aka MGM....they changed it earlier this year). We plan to spend more time there when we go back, of course for Stars Wars Weekend. :darth: :yoda: :ewok: :chewy: Followed by two days at Vero Beach. :beach: And of course Epcot. This time at Universal AND next time at WDW will be a lot less scripted for sure!! I'm still bummed about not doing WDW this time during Christmas so I could at least take pictures of the castle!!

If it's 21.5 more days till the 20th then how long is it until we sail??

:love2: puckerup:

TTFN my friend

..... Sorry the tacky redneck in me just could not resist:rotfl2:

Scubadivr, where in the world would a person get a plastic wine glass?? I have seen them in packages of large quantities but not just individually. Starting packing anyday now.....:lmao:

I don't know if you have already left or have access to this but the rain is coming Thursday evening. Hopefully it will miss the game! :cheer2:

The rain held off till Friday morning:worship: It was an awesome game! We were so close to the field, we could see the sweat on Jason Witten's tight end :rolleyes1

Lindsey spotted the Jonas Brothers in their circle suite within an hour of being inside the stadium:rotfl2: She is such a stalker:sad2:

Found out the shoes I had planned on wearing to WDW aren't going to work after all. Back to the drawing board.

Still no Docs here ,and we leave in 19 days:scared1: Hopefully they will arrive this week. pixiedust:

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. :thumbsup2

I'm glad the rain held off until Friday. I did think about that....after the fact of course. Sorry I didn't contact you before you left in order to find a way to get a hold of you so we could meet up and the girls could meet. Oh well....:sad2: Guess I'll have to wait another 20 days.

Lindsey is such a stalker. :lmao: Proud of her though on one hand and disappointed it took her an hour to find them. Tell her I said that. :rotfl2: Hope she doesn't hate me too much. :rotfl2: When Carter straightens his hair with the flat iron he looks like Joe when his hair was a tad bit longer. The girls like it

Sorry the shoes aren't going to work out. I hope we can intercept those documents :wizard:

Hi everyone! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful!! We're back, and still recovering (SO not ready to go back to work tomorrow), but WDW was fabulous!

We had 12 people in a Grand Villa at SSR, and it was a blast! Too short, though! And the castle lights are amazing! (we saw them last year too, but I am still in awe!!) Sadly, the Osborne lights did not come on until the night after we left:sad2: I really wanted my family to see them! But the daytime decorations were up and the castle lights, which are my favorite! I got to see ALL the firework shows, and Wishes twice (for only being there 6 nights that was quite a feat!) and one rope drop only!

DH is not sure he wants to go to a park before the cruise, but I may insist on a trip to HS to see the Lights, since we missed them this time!

Well, our suitcases are empty now, but sitting in the playroom to be refilled - slowly! And I managed to get the Christmas tree up this weekend! I can't believe we are so close!!

Have a great week!
Shari

P.S. Annette, I hope your cat is better now - nothing worse than a gassy cat, except a gassy husband! :rolleyes1

Welcome back Sheri!

So happy to hear you guys had a great time and are home safe and sound. DH needs to get our suitcases down for me to begin filling. I have barely thought about getting our tree. I wonder if I could get away with using the 2 ft tree I got for the cruise? :rolleyes1 Somehow, I doubt it:rotfl2: HS and the Osborne lights are planned for our first night in WDW.:thumbsup2

What great fun!! I can't wait for us to have a grand reunion in a Grand Villa. My nephew is barely 2 so I thought I would wait a couple of years so he can appreciate the World better. :thumbsup2 I guess I forgot you are a DVC member. I am assuming you are as you got a Grand Villa. Those are outrageous cash wise!

Sorry you missed the Osborne lights. You should definitely hit HS in order to see them. I love HS anyways. I hope we can see the castle lights well enough even though we aren't visiting the Disney parks. We do plan on some resort hopping to see the decorations. Got dinner at VWL one night so we definitely get to see them. :woohoo:

I think I am the most excited in my house. I'm serious about starting to pack this week. I'll clear out the formal dining room of all my ebay stuff and charity giveaways so I can make room for the suitcases.

As it is I am finishing details on DD's Sweet 16 and the Christmas cards. I am making them myself. A snowman on a piece of sandy beach explaining that we will celebrate Christmas in Nassau. Hopefully everyone doesn't think the sand is snow before reading the accompanying letter. :confused3

On another note, did you guys see where the lines on the Wonder broke off due to the wind and the gangplanks fell into the water??!!?? Everyone and everything is fine and they sailed anyways. Hope everything continues to be fine.

Yikes!:scared1: No I haven't read that, but will pop on over to the general board and check it out.

The Christmas Cards sound nice, and so what if people think it's snow, they will get the drift once they read it, then will go awwww:beach:

How is the party coming along? Lindsey's is planned for the 10th of Jan. Sad they had to wait, but it gives me time to get back and relax from vacation before hitting it head on. Thankfully all we have to do is provide crowd control:lmao: The event facility is taking care of everything else:worship:

Well folks, I have just under an hour till I pick DD up from school, and take her for her driving exam:drive: Not sure who is more nervous, her or me:rotfl2:

Still waiting for the travel docs. How bout ya'll?:hourglass

Hey Annette....Did you say 24 more days till we sail:confused: :rolleyes1
