12/19/2009 - 12/26/2009 Magical Christmas Cruise! It's not that far Away?

The postcard idea is great. Count my 2 DDs in. Its a surprise trip for them, so they'll have to work on it on the way down, but it will give them something to pass the time.

What time would we do a meet on the first sea day? I'm thinking in the morning before all the days activities get rolling. That would also give the kids time to meet before the club/lab activities get into full swing. But, I know a few of us have Palo brunch that day, so I don't think we want it to be too early. Any suggestions?

Happy Friday!
Leslie

I know my DD would love to do the postcard swap, too!

We have Palo brunch on the first sea day, I think it's at 11:30.

My DD's in for the postcard swap.

I recommend against sea day mornings. The last non-first day meet we attended was at like 9am on the first sea day - and we missed our character breakfast because of it. They do one rotation per sea day for the character breakfasts (2 breakfast times - one for early dinner, one for late) so we'll probably overlap with a character breakfast time for someone.

Is there a copy of some Christmas-week Navigators online somewhere? Maybe that would help us find a good time/place.

Amanda

I wasn't thinking too early in the morning! (I'm on vacation dog gone it! :rotfl2: I also don't want to mess up anyones Palo brunch ressies. I'm flexable.

Amber - Good point on the character breakfast. I didn't even think of that.

So, if we wait until after Character Breakfasts and Palo Brunches, that takes us to early afternoon. I'm ok with something like 2:00, but I don't know if that will interfere with any activities. I have some Navigators from August and in the 2:00 hour there is a movie starting, Origami flowers, Tequila and Margarita tasting, Hook/Pluto in the Gazebo, Champagne Art Auction, Adult Pool Games, Adventures with Wendy Darling, Stitch's Great Adventures, Games Galore, and Stop the Bus. There is no telling what will be going on at that time on our cruise, but this is probably a good sample. I don't mind missing any of these things, but some of you might. I just don't want it to get so late that I miss my afternoon nap. :lmao: Thoughts?

Early afternoon would be good. I guess we really won't know what's going on until we see the navigator. Hey this is my 4th cruise and I still haven't gotten to the Origami thing! :lmao:

Just thought I'd give a Fish Extender Exchange update. So far we have 19 cabins. 39 Adults 17+ and 21 kids under 16.

Would you guys be open to having more than one opportunity for a DISmeet? I think we are finding that it might be difficult to find a single time that works for everyone...

I would love to meet on the first day if anyone else would like to. If I can come on the sea day, I will be there too! But I think the first day might work better for my family.

:goodvibesThanks, Tina, for keeping up with the FE stuff...I've been doing that too...do you want me to continue, or would you like to go ahead and take that over now?

I love the idea of meeting the next day. It's a sea day, so we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other, too.

I'm thinking that the flash mob idea wouldn't work so well. Between it looking coordinated by Disney and that you usually need a LOT of people to make it successful, it may not work out.

And finally...WOW! 19 FEs? I'd better get started (I had, but I need to really work on it now!)

I think that's a good idea Kimberley. Frankly, we normally find ourselves somewhat bored :scared1: between lunch and luggage delivery/unpacking on boarding day, especially when the weather isn't warm enough to swim (which I suspect will be the case on this trip). So, I'd love to meet up with anyone else who wants to get together that day. We can also attend a sea day meet if it doesn't conflict with any activities.

Leslie

I'd prefer first day myself, but will try to get to any meets we have planned.

I'm getting rather psyched!! The only thing better than Christmas, is Christmas with Disney!!!

Amanda

Well, maybe some of us can do a meet on the first day, too...

My family will definitely go to any that we possibly can, but I'm most confident about being able to make it the first day. Since I'm traveling with extended family, my time will not always be my own, but I do want to catch up with all of you as much as possible! :goodvibes

I would also like to meet on the first day...I know how I am on the ship and I always have something planned once I get those navigators :lmao: I would try to make it on the sea day but sometimes I get sidetracked!

Kim, I've just been getting the FE info when you post on the roll call. As for a DIS meet, I'm flexable. I only suggested the first sea day because I know how hectic things can be.

Tina, I think the first sea day is a great suggestion for a DISmeet, as a lot of people in the group have expressed that it would work better for them than the day of embarkation.

I actually like the idea of having more than one opportunity for a DISmeet so that no one feels left out. And if some of us can come to more than one DISmeet, even better!!! :thumbsup2

Hopefully we will be able to all find a number of opportunities to mix and mingle throughout the week! :goodvibes

Goodnight all!
Kimberly

It seems that each cruise we have been on, I find there are a couple of people I run into all the time! We have never been on a cruise at Christmas so I'm not sure what kind of extra/seasonal activities they have on board. I seem to remember that there are a couple of us doing the same tour in St Thomas (St John island tour) So maybe we will all be on the same bus! :lmao:

A bit off the subject here, but Robynchic I have just noticed your new avatar.
Your photo's are beautiful, could we have a sneak peek at some more please

Hi everybody,,,, just stopping by to say "hello". Thought you might benefit from some classic artistic expression.

Hi Everyone.. Well, its official today is the last day of our Disneyland passes. We went with a group to Disneyland yesterday and today we have a school carnival for which my son will be 'doing his community service' (which means 'WE' are, as he has to be accompnaied by an adult). Anyway, since we are doing this cruise, we aren't going to renew for a bit..and it wouldn't be worth it anyway as most of the days coming up are black out dates. So, no Disneyland at Christmas (which I have never been), but wait, I'll be at Castaway Cay for Chirstmas.. Oh, the trade off.. I think I know the winner!

So, what does anyone think about using the green wrist bands to identify DIS'ers on our cuise? I checked into pricing and it isn't too bad. Probably between .80 to 1.24 per person. I could order the bracelets and everyone could buy them from me and I could mail them out before our cuise. That way while you are traveling or at the port, etc, you could be identified by a fellow DIS'er. OR, I could just bring them to our meeting place and you could get them there. Comments? Intersted or not really?
