12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise

Morning All,

School starts here Aug 25. Why are they starting school on a Thursday? Short summer yes but it cut back on the costs of extended day care. I'm one of those sicko's that is for year round school.
I am beat today, my hands are not speaking to me. Cleaned the kitchen, the bathrooms, did laundry and worked in the yard rearranging the playhouse to another part of the yard, weeding (3 trashcans full) , and watching over the girls and Sierra's two girlfriends who came over for the day. I got sunburned on my back(oh boo hoo) and had quite the work out.
Its nice to have a big back yard, but man the work...I'll stop my whining now.
Paul received an email for a job I sent his resume in for. It's in Bend, Oregon which is where we have been looking to go. To live where life is less expensive. Oh my what a concept. We could purchase a house up there for 450 that down here would be well over a million. yep. And with the equity we have in our house here, we could put a good down payment on the place.
Well I'm off to watch the Tour de France for a bit. GO LANCE. what a stud.

Our school starts back up on Thursday, August 11. That's what messed up my original cruise plans for this summer. I was just thinking yesterday, how much easier it would be with year-round school. SO you aren't the only freak!

Happy July 4 to everyone on this side of the pond! DH and I went away for the weekend and sicko that I am I brought the laptop with me. I'm officially addicted. At least I've only used it last night and this morning...

School here starts the day after Labor Day, but count me in as another vote in favor of year-round schooling!

GaRry, I hope you get better soon! It would be great if you could make it down to WDW end of Aug. Most important thing though -- take care of your health! (And don't work too hard! )

Dee, thanks for the good wishes.
When we were kids, school started right after Labor Day and ended the first week in June. I don't know why they don't do that here. They used to try to tell us that it's so hot at the end of May, first of June, they let the schools out early. BUT...it's hotter in August than it is in June, so that's a bunch of malarkey. And now this year, instead of the usual 20th or so of August, they go back on the 11th! What's up with that??
I just really really wish they would let them out early at Christmas break of '06...for this cruise! At the very least, the kids will miss 3 days of school....at the most...a whole week, plus a day!

I think that the day after The fourth of July should be a recovery holiday. Even the girls wanted to sleep in. Come on coffee kick in. Well so much for the diet. After a weekend of birthday patries and cookouts, I'm toast. Pants are fitting tight again , but my DH still thinks I'm sexy.

I hope everyone had a great fourth.

Kira started her new school today. No problem. Lots of new toys and friends to play with and a whole new playground to get to know. Plus a little girl that was in her class at her other school started at the same school today and is in her class. Hooray! Of course mom forgot to pack her a lunch. (stupid!) I know what I'm doing on my lunch today.

We just got back from a 3 day on the Wonder (our 3rd cruise, 2nd 3 day) and signed up for the 10 day while on board. I am so excited already and there is almost a year and a half before it happens!!!! I want to start packing right now but my DH would KILLLLLLL me!

Does anybody know what excursions will be available on Antigua and St. Lucia? I saw St. Maarten and St. Thomas on the Disney site but am really curious about Antigua.

In the early section of this thread it looked like everyone had first seating. We have always done that and after getting stuck near a screaming child every night (the same child every night) we decided that maybe late seating would have fewer screaming children. Let's hope! Our dd will be 10 by then and will likely eat with the kid's club or on her own by that time so we can have peaceful dinners.

Hi Kat,
Glad to see that you're joining us. We were on the 10 day last year and loved it. I'm sorry but I don't remember the excursions available. We went snorkling on a catamaran in Antigua. Won't do that again--way to many jellyfish. In St Lucia we took a tour of the island from a taxi (Yellowbird was the driver's name). It was wonderful (about 2hrs). We have had late dining on our 2 cruises and never had any screaming children. You should have a quiet dinner this time.
