12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 4

We always listened to the radio and watched tv. No on-line back then. A computer as powerful as what I have on my desk would have taken up acres!!!!

Yep, remember those old computer rooms!

Jeez! I just looked and Jen hasn't posted in two days now....not like her! But, she is probably busy doing finals and with the game now that it has started.....

Or has SHE just been watching pirates over and over!

I've been on the game threads and haven't seen her...plus I checked her posts and she hasn't posted anything in two days. But all of the game work is being done in private rooms.

There are a BUNCH of ten year olds...I have a DS10 myself. Don't remember if there were a lot of 6 year olds, but they make friends fast.

im with you, hating the dentist, but i found a new one, he is gentle, caring, and pretty good..i just had implants (tooth) done and they are fitting them the day before i fly to disney on friday..
we both need some pixie dust!!

Well, we have to sit down and make our contract still, but our biggie (and she remembers this one from last cruise) is she is not allowed to be in the corridors unless she is going to a destination and is with a buddy, and is not allowed to be on elevators alone.

Those all sound reasonable to me. I think Sam will have those too. No wandering around the ship by herself. I think the buddy system is almost a necessity if they are going to signing themselves in or out. And preferably one of the other DIS kids!

Ok, I have updated the room listing on the yahoo site. I hope I have the correct room numbers! There are a couple of folks I have never seen here on the boards so they must have contacted Jen.

We leave for Orlando in 9 days!!!!!! Hoorrraayyyyy!!!! DH still hasn't gotten new tennis shoes so he may have to do without . In the meantime, I am working on packing. Mostly just his stuff left . He won't tell me until the last minute what he wants packed, but he won't do it himself either! Ugh...

Well, at least we know Jen is alive...from spending some time over on the WPASADI thread I know EVERYONE seemed overwhelmed yesterday...on the rare occasions that they came up for air. (You know, I have something of a reputation with those people, but you know it's really just them, because look how well I behave here, right?! ) Truly, I'm just guilty of reinforcing their naughtiness!

Mary Ann, Robin, how soon do you guys leave? As overwhelmed as I am looking at my to-do list, you have to be dying...

For me, Christmas is just about taken care of....of course, I keep thinking of little stocking stuffers I want to pick up (like there are stockings.) But you know what I mean!

So now, full out cruise planning! (Along with Christmas party, kids having finals, basketball games, etc. etc.....oh well, as full out as I get!) I told DH I want to start packing this weekend. I'm giving he and the boys a list of what they're going to need and having them bring what they can to be packed. (I'll let them hold off on the underwear, but suits, shorts, good clothes can go into the suitcase.) That will give me an idea of what I still need to get for everyone. AND I am going to buy everyone plenty of undies--I'm going into this thing hoping not to have to do laundry...they can re-wear shorts and stuff, but the undies....I'm buying in bulk!

Kat, thanks for updating that list. I'm going to print it right now! I'm getting so excited!

I haven't gone through it too carefully but at first blush it looks the same as before the online check-in except for a couple of sentences about "if you have not completed online check-in" Is that what you all think?

That's how mine is....and luggage tags. Makes a difference, I think, that we're not flying or taking their transfers.

Incidently, as far as the whole sign out priveleges go...
We have DS13, DS10, and DD8. This is our first cruise with a "teenager" and I was surprised to see that there is no such thing as NOT having sign out privelges when you are 13! So, to make a long story short, for this cruise ALL of them have sign out priveleges. DD8 will just go back to the room and get milk and cookies from room service and read or watch tv. We arrange it so the kids have there own room that connects to ours. DD8 gets the section next to the port hole that can be curtained off from the rest. Hopefully DS10 will hang with Keith or other DS10 DISers (or go back to the room to hang with DD8).

I figure we can always take it away if it becomes a problem but I don't anticipate that it will.

The teenager thing, though... should be interesting!

I understand - I want my teeth great so that I can enjoy all the food!!!!
