12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 3

Nah, I already did my own signs and I don't want the door to look the side of a NASCAR vehicle with too many placards.

I have the same worry with my DS12 who will turn 13 in November. When the teen club used to be where the coffee shop is now, it looked like it was for much older teens. So I expect my son to spend more of his time in the new 'tween' area where he can be with his little (DS10) brother.

According to the book that accompanies the Disney planning DVD, the stack is "packed with music, video games, TVs, its own lounge area, Internet access and atmosphere to spare".

That makes sense based upon what I see in my house. (With boys 16 to 9 in and out, I see a lot of how the interaction goes.) It's all about who else is there, though. I'm guessing each cruise the mix is a little different, but if it ends up being mostly 13 - 15 year olds in the stack OR if a 12 year old happened to connect with a 13 year old who was comfortable, that might change the mix a little.

My 10 year old will I'm sure hang in the tween area. My biggest question is will my 14 and 16 year old hang in the stack or will they be like Jen and make up their minds it is lame and decide to do their own thing? I'm hoping the stack just because it would be a little easier to keep track of them.... I've at least gotten their commitment that they will give it a try.

Okay here is my two cents (and a quick lunch sandwich between classes). My daughter was 15 last thanksgiving when we went and loved the teen club - infact she lived there, until 2 am some nights. My son was 13 (he is still thirteen until Friday and only 4'9" little guy). He wasn't as crazy about it. He was with his 12 year old cousin and both would have liked the kids club better but they couldn't go to either together even though they were both 7th graders.

This time my 5'9", now 16 yr old daughter can't wait and even though she wants little to nothing to do with her brother, he is looking forward to check it out.

Yes, she is wearing homecoming dress and prom dress from last year. I am looking for a nice outfit. We thought we would rent tux's from Disney for the "boys". We have never had a family picture taken and this would be the perfect time.

All are dressing as pirates. My 14 yr old does not own a suit, I always figure that a nice sweater and good pants is good for boys and teen boys.

Okay I wrote a novel but I only have a small break today - buzy!

New "tween" area is suppose to be on the 2nd floor - read that somewhere.

There you go sounding like a guy... Bet you don't like area rugs either! (Discussion currently going on in our house--but DH knows who has the final say in all matters decorating related! When I figure out something he gets final say on, I'll let you know. )

In fact, I don't. My wife wanted to get one for the dining room. I keep telling her we spent thousands of dollars upgrading the dining room floor from carpet to ceramic tile when we built the house and now she wants to cover it in carpet?

[Yes, sometime next year I expect to come home and find a rug there. She is not "she who must be obeyed" for no reason.]

I like that--my husband has "Hail to the Chief" as my ring tone on his phone.

LOL, I think we are getting there. She didn't like the lab when we sailed summer 2005. Not that I have any personal experience, but I'm told girls do get there a bit sooner. I don't know though, with two older brothers I'm sure Kev will be ahead of the curve! He'll probably be trying to raid the stack!

So now 16 year old is home after less-than-perfect day, and by the sounds of things in my basement has decided to improve things by harassing new ten year old and friends. (Sigh....)

Oh well, probably time to get offline and start thinking about birthday dinner anyhow!

Did not really want to put him in with older kids even though he has alot of older friends here at home...still a little to young to be thrown in with the wolves..lol he may be 5'7 and very smart and mature for 12 BUT....he is still only 12...

I think it will be interesting to see how our whole crew of 10 and 11 year olds do on this trip. Samantha has never gone into a cruise "knowing" anyone before so it will be different for her, that's for sure. She has also never had any real freedom and we are negotiating sign out privileges so that will be interesting too. Hopefully she can behave herself.

Someone at our school district wasn't on their toes. They scheduled an inservice for the science teachers! We had Mole day on friday. We made 34 little strawberry moles, with noodle whiskers, pink icing noses and mini-chip eyes. I set them all on a giant sugar cookie with 6.022X10(think tiny)23, in pink icing.

Well, I got home and did my black t-shirt. I must say, it looks awesome! So I am set for night! Yay!

Now to work on the cruise shirts. I think I like the fabric ironon stuff better. I need to return what I have to wal-mart and exchange it for the other. Much better in my opinion.

I noticed you were booked in a cat 11. Did you know this cruise has gone on a Florida resident discount? We just got refunded $2500 for my mom's inside cat 11. It only applies to all cats 9 and below. It was too good to pass up so I think we are going to switch from a cat 6 down to a cat 9 and we will save $5000. That is a whole other cruise.
