its 2:30 pm and i am still in bed. lol.. was supposed to go work on a project with a friend but he hasn't called yet.

We have all had our flu shots here in Orlando----had them this past week. Abundant supplies everywhere. No limits this year on who can receive initial doses either as in the past.

I personally have NEVER heard of anyone in the states being able to get hold of the topical anesthetics. Some of the uses I have heard of are plastic surgery, scar revision......I don't think you are going to find a physician write you for a tube for a shot. Its quite expensive too.

Hi all

Yes those Emla patches as well as the cream you put on are amazing and work really well - no side effects either.

Here in Ontario you can get them without a prescription over the counter at the local pharmacy.

They are a bit on the pricey side (not sure exactly how much).

If any of you would like I can pick some up for you and mail them to you. No problem at all. I prefer the patch over the cream as the cream is messy. you have to put the patch on about 1 hour before you get the shot.

I am sure you could goolge emla patches on google.ca if you want/need more information.

Please let me know via a PM if any of you would like me to mail the Emla T
Just finishsed our turkey dinner{Thanksgiving here ) (Clean up is DH job :thumbsup2 ) so I am relaxing on the DIS boards.

Have a good evening.

Denise

Hi again

I have friends coming to visit from Georgia- Carrolton on Thursday. I am sure I could ask them to take some things across the border and mail from there if anyone needs those Emla patches.

Denise

All drugs have side effects. Don't let anyone tell you there is one without. You also cant use the med if you are taking I believe sulfa drugs. I have seen patients very allergic to lidocaine and go into respiratory arrest, this should be no different. Thats why they prescribe it only if you need it. I don't know about you but I would never forgive myself if I administered something without an order and it caused my child harm.

Hi Judy!!!! Long time no see.... How are you and the family doing? did you get all the excursions you wanted?

Hey I've been here. Just nothing to contribute. ( I haven't seen pirates again and I don't know a thing about horses. LOL)

Everyone is great--just busy.

Yes we got all of the ressies we desired which basically consisted of Palos Palos and more Palos. We are doing a charter on St. Lucia with Judy and her family (magicalfam) to see dolphins and whales and a couple of others on our own. Hi Judy!!!!!!

BTW----Hi Garry. Miss you. PM me sometime again. Hows Stacey? Where do I find her these days? Willie----my Tx buddy. I miss you too. We may rebook for the one you told me about if you are still doing it. Let me know. Is Lampskies going?

Judy H.

OK, so now tomorrow I have to call the Doc for flu shots all around and hit the clearance racks before all last Summer clothing is gone! (Or we'll just have to wear what we wore all Summer--sigh!)

I know right around the holidays there are sometimes some limited "vacation type" Summer clothes that come out for those going on trips, but I'm guessing that with a December 16 departure we will be a little early for those! Stores will still be pushing the gifts! :santa:

Maybe we'll just stick to the nude beaches and not worry about clothes! (Since you all don't know me, I'll add "just kidding!")

Well, I'm going to leave it all behind me, go wade through the backpack homework before tomorrow morning, and get ready for one of my favorite guilty pleasures--yep, I still like Desperate Housewives! :happytv: I'll forget about my to do list until tomorrow.

Hopefully, Jen, you've climbed out of bed and started your project by now? :rotfl:

The cream I know I can get because I have talked to my Pediatrican and he said no problem. He will write a prescription and I get it filled and need to come into the office at least one hr. before hand for them to apply it. But I may check into the patch on line and if I cant get it I will let you know and thanks for the offer :thumbsup2

lol all this emla talk is very DCLish lol...

We'll as you all know I want shopping yeaterday and today. Well yesterday I went to "Sports Authority" and got some things that were 25% off. When I got home I lookes at the recipt and realized that they never gave me the 25% off. So today I went back and because of there error not only did I get the 25% off but also an additional $3.00 on each item...so saved a total of $60.00...Yea Me..... :cool1:
Went to Macys and they had an awesome sale today so saved another $50.00.....Yea Me again!!!...

So Jen have you ever used the cream or patch when you have gotten shots?

Out here in California you can because I have called my Pediatrician and he told me he would give me a prescription for it. It is through Kaiser so don't know if that makes a difference. But he did say that they would apply it and we would have to wait in the waiting room. So that works for me!!! :)

Yes you can get it anywhere here with a prescription but Tink is saying it is sold OTC in Canada like a lot of our prescription drugs. Here the FDA would not approve that. As we used to say in the ER when kids (or adults)would whine about a shot, if you loved them we'd be worried about you. Noone likes them. You just suck it up and do what you have to do to prevent having a disease or to get better. My kids don't balk at all because they realize even at 10, 7 and 4 that it prevents the illness. And I too reward afterward.

Well that is true ...however I worked Labor and Delivery for 22 years and when a patient would as you say WHINE about needing an Epideral..I would never say suck it up! If I could offer anything to make them more confortable than that is what I would do.
There are more people in the World that refuse to go to the Dentist or get vaccinated due to "Shot Phobia" and that is a real statistic. I believe anything we can do to get these people to get vaccinated the less diseases we would have. For those of us that can suck it up...power to us...but for those that cant you have to agree, we do what we can...when we can.
I cant go to the Dentist because of needle phobia(medication makes my gums very tender) so I go to a dentist that offers Lasor Dentistry...no needles :) But am okay with shots, over came that during nursing). So agree with you in one respect but not all. :)

Dee - We had a great time today! Ryan thinks Keith is just the best. He asked if he could have him over to play! He said I think I made a new friend today mom. I'll send you pictures tomorrow so tired tonight.

Got the boys (DH & DS) suits today. That was no easy feat. DH at 6'7" extra long/tall and a 7 year old with a 33" chest. But some minor alterations and we are good to go.

Question, how many dresses do you pack for the cruise? You know for formal and semi-formal nights. Oh I need help. I have over two months and I am obsessed. :rotfl2: :lmao: .

OK smarty men out there! I am sure you do not pack any or maybe you do. But that question was for the seasoned women travelers. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Oh I am rummy I am so tired.

Well Good night chat with you in the morning.
