Anyone interested in seeing pics of the planes landing in St Maarten, there's a cool video HERE and some neat pictures HERE, HERE, and HERE. There are more, but I like these the best.

The Bridge again?

okay let me type the story..

We sat next to the Pres of DCL and his family at dinner..we went on the brig unicorn and befriended the family...my parents ate with them at palo and the Pres let us come on the bridge as the ship left CC....i got to press the Mickey Whisle and be on the wings as the ship was leaving. I even got to move the joystick (just once)...lol...it was so amazing!!!!

Good morning everyone! Doesn't look like there was much activity yesterday. I was out with Mom and DH pretty much all afternoon and evening. Today is groceries and :laundy: . Yuck, but it must be done. I have to start the :laundy: part soon.

Yes, Jen...a few of us got TAGS

Most people who were on last night for a big event on the celebs who aren't celebs thread got tagged. A lot of work for a tag, but it was fun! I might have never gotten one for being clever...

Board is quiet today, isn't it?

My DH is on the phone with MIL, teens are out so I had some time to check in...better get back to our movie...

Ok I have to ask, What are tags and what does it mean if you get one?
Since I'm fairly new to this, I'm so lost.

If you look under someone's name on the left of the posting you may see a tag (it will usually be in color). The Tag Fairy gives them to people. Those who were on the other day when the celebrity stuff was revealed seem to have gotten tags. If you look at 3pirates and "Got Disney" they have sayings in red under their names. Those are tags.

How are you this morning, Shelly? We are getting closer, aren't we? Just think, 6 week's from now we will be nearing Key West!!!!!

I'm so excited Kat. I am looking forward to Key West. I grew up in FL (Ft Lauderdale), lived there for my first 22 years and never went to Key West!!! I guess because it is actually a 5 hour drive from Ft Laud. We still can't agree on excursions, my DH has a "lets wait and see what happens" attitude (which drives me crazy). I've got some books on the Caribbean and we may do some things on our own. I've decided that DD can go to the Stack, sounds very supervised. I am now her best friend, at least till tomorrow. I can't remember, have you done the 10 cruise before? On the cruise website, today the weather in St Maarten is 80 degrees and sunny!!!Here in the mountains it is 21 and freezing. I can't wait to warm up. I hope you are having a good morning.
Shelly

No, we haven't done the 10 day before. DH is diving on all but Antigua I believe, so DD and I will be on our own on most of the islands and we are going on excursions. Most seem to be booked already unless you get lucky and find room on something once on board. We are doing the pirate excursion on St. Lucia with a bunch of other folks from the group and that looks to be a lot of fun. On key West we aren't doing any excursions but will be going to several museums, etc on our own. I really am looking forward to this vacation, though. I need it right now as life at home is very stressful. I just keep counting down the days!

I hope your life calms down a bit, it sounds like you need a vacation. We had a similar problem in our family with my grandmother. She has mild demetia and couldn't live alone after my grandfather died so she lived with my aunt. She was home alone all day and had no one to socialize with (plus a host of other problems, too long to get in here). We finally made the decision to have her move to an assisted living apartment and she has really flourished. She has friends and they are all widows of military men so they share a real connection. It was a tough decision for my mom and aunt to make but they are glad they did. I don't know if that is an option for you but I know how hard it is to worry all the time about someone.

Good morning everyone. So what was the final announcement from the celebrities?

We lost our electricity yesterday. Not unusual. Gusty winds, flooding due to all the rain. S'ppose to rain for the next 10 days. I can't wait for sun :sunny: Someday we'll buy a generator but we have been saying that for 11 years and never done it! :p

Went wining yesterday - as in sampling not complaining :cool1:

I now have 51 parents and kids on the WCE trip to China I am chaperoning over spring break. Looks like a good group of 9th graders.

Quiet morning. Off to do grocery shopping. DD must visit the Buddist Temple for comparitive religions class. Another busy day.

later...

I wish it were an option. DM is wheelchair bound and really cannot do much for herself. She cannot dress or feed herself and really needs help even going to the bathroom. She definitely cannot take a shower vy herself. We have someone to come in days to take care of her but soon will no longer have a live-in care-giver so some of that burden will fall on us. She lives across the street which makes it easier but it will still be a demand on time and energy. I love her dearly but I am so drained right now as it is, I just don't know if I am going to be able to manage this as well. :sad2: She was in a nursing home for about 9 months and was so miserable, we really don't want to have to go back to that so we are going to do our best to avoid that. Hopefully we will be able to keep her from having to go back until absolutely necessary.

morning all....its sunday so that means lots and lots of football!

Sorry to hear about your Mom. Mine has severe alzheimers and needs more help then she is getting, but my dad refuses, says he can take care of her. Because I keep pushing to get help he has stopped talking to me.

Uggh. Ifeel so in the middle.

Can't wait for the holiday escape.

FOOTBALL! GO RAVENS!!! they just scored on the opening kick TO the bengals (the bengals fumbled their opening kick)

Morning all,
Another beautiful day here about 80 degrees...I am sending some sunshine your way :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I understand on the parent situation...I have had both my Mother and My father live with me. At seperate times that is. Being a RN, the best choice was me because they both had serious health issues.

Was NOT EASY..but we did it. My Dad was a stubborn German man and he was a tough one. After about 2 years his health got to where he needed to be placed, but I still visited him 3 -4 times a week for about 4 hrs sat a time. He also came home to my house about everyother week for the day and Holidays till he could not. Then we would do Holidays at the Nursing home and his B-day..kids,especially Michael,he always loved to go have Dinner there with him...

Stressfull, but it taught my kids that just because you get old and sick does not mean that you give up on your family when they get old.
Hope someday when I end up in a Nursing home they make sure it is a good one and come visit me.

My friend down the street just droped her dad one day in a home and never looked back! So what did that teach her kids? :confused3
