DAy 5, our last day, Sat 12/14. (Actually we left first thing Sunday morning, 12/15.)
It was pretty chilly today. Didn't pack heavy coats. Had a jacket for dd2 but dd1 didn't even own a light jacket, only a heavy coat, which I didn't bring. She had a sweatshirt but was still cold at MK (I did bring her rain poncho, but that didn't keep her warm). Between parks today I bought dd1 a jacket from the Contemporary gift shop. Originally we planned to go to AK and then Epcot today, but dd1 really just wanted to ride Space MT (again!) and I found out the Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas show was going to be at MK that day. So we headed to MK first thing. Split up..dh and dd1 went to ride Space MT. Right after we split up, Cinderella's Surprise Celebration started, so dd2 and I watched that. This is one of our favorite shows. After that headed to the Country Bear Jamboree. Waited about 5 minutes to get in. DD2 really enjoyed this, right up her alley. After that headed to tomorrowland for the Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas show. Dh and dd1 met us there. After the show we walked back to the hotel. Did a little packing and then headed to Epcot. Got a FP for TT (we had never ridden this before), which gave us a "surprise FP" for HISTA, so we went there. DD2 doesn't really like the 3D shows. She scares pretty easily. So she sat on Daddy's lap. After HISTA headed to WS. The Living Statues were in France last time, but they (actually just one) were in Italy this time. Dh races through WS, which really bugs me. The last trip he wasn't with us when we did WS, just myself, girls and MIL, so we got to really enjoy it. I hate going to WS with him. I finally got him to slow down a little, but still missed a lot. Didn't go into any of the shops really. The girls did their masks (this is what slowed dh down a little). Got pastry in France, a chocolate croissant, which wasn't that great...wish I had gotten something else). Santa was in America, but the line was too long. Neat setup, though. In addition to pictures, Santa was also signing autograph books. Great idea. We planned on going back later but never made it. We heard a little of the CP from outside. Something I'd like to do someday either when the kids get older or without the kids. I don't think they'd sit through it willingly. Saw the tree lighting ceremony. Neat, but the music is WAY too loud if you're right there. Kids covered their ears. Decided to watch the 2nd ToD parade, lined up and then they announced it was canceled due to "adverse wind conditions." Okay, but it wasn't windy at all. Huh?!? DD1 was pretty upset (wanted to put their "dreams" into the dreamcatcher). But cheered her up by running over to TT. Our FP times were over, but they let us use them anyway. Did the kid swap thing. Dh and dd1 rode and then dd1 and I rode. I thought it was going to be a scary ride, but it really wasn't. We enjoyed it. After that we got a spot for Illuminations. Not a very good spot, though. Headed back to the room. DD1 cried the whole way back to the room, she didn't want to leave. Our flight was 10:30 a.m. and we were being picked up by Mears at 7:30.
Sunday 12/15 - Mears pickup at 7:30 a.m. - It was cold and there was NO HEAT on the bus. We had to go to 3 other hotels for pickups (45 minutes) and the finally on to the airport. Total trip was 1 1/2 hours. Wouldn't have been as bad if there had been HEAT. I plan on writing to Mears about this.
All in all a pretty good trip. I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted to. I can't believe I only took ONE picture of the decorations at MK (which didn't even turn out very good). For some reason my heart just wasn't 100% in this trip. I had been so busy with work and everything else. I never had time to really anticipate this trip and obsessively plan like I usually do. Money was tighter this time too, which made it harder to enjoy it.
Hope everyone enjoyed my TR!
