12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Oh, forgot to ask who wants to get the glow bracelets for Pirate night. Three of them can connect for a necklace. I can get 200 of them for around $20 shipped...so that would work out to .10 each. Just post if you are interested & how many you would like. I can just bring them with us & get them to you on the ship.

Lisa, it's too soon for me to say because DH's job is still up in the air for now. I'll let you know as soon as I know. Will the glow last until December?? Sorry to hear about your car. Oh well....sounds like you need a vacation.... ;)

Jenny

I would like enough glow bracelets to make necklaces for 4 people. Thanks for doing this.

I know for sure that we will be cruising in 2006 - just not sure when, and if it will be with cash or points. With DS starting college this summer, I'm betting more and more that the next cruise will be on points!

You do get a DVC discount too if you call with your intent to re-book within 3 days of sailing - but no $200 credit! :sad2:

Lisa - sorry to hear about your accident . . . When I was on a business trip last year, and I landed in Atlanta, Amy called me to say that our DS Alex, had pulled the car into the garage and scraped the passenger door. He stopped as soon as he heard it hit - Amy went out all nervous, and instead of pullling back, pulled the rest of the way through getting the back door too . . . Just tell Mike it's only metal and paint and $$$$$$ :rotfl:

Pictures from the last cruise are on the way to you too! Mailed 'em today!

Yes, they will work in December. You don't open the tube until you are ready to crack the inside casing to make them glow and I wouldn't order them for a few more months.

I survived DH seeing the damage to his baby. :( I will be calling a body shop to find out how much it will cost to fix it in the morning...or when I can take it in for them to check it...with both kids with me since it is spring break. :(

Tell me about the DVC discount. Is it less points if you book within 3 days?

Angie,

I'll try and explain it as best I can . . .

You have to call DVC within three days of sailing, and tell them of your possible intent to book a cruise with points (sounds kind of silly, doesn't it). The reason for this is that you cannot book until you are within the seven month window. Since we were planning on cruising in December again, I made the phone call, as well as making a cash deposit while on the cruise just in case I changed my mind and decided to use points.

Somewhere I have the paperwork with the point savings if you do all this - we cruised with points last time by doing this. You save MORE points on the lower categories (8,9,10,etc) than you do on the higher categories (4,5,6,etc.). From what I recall we saved about 15-20 points per person for the adults.

The ironic thing also on this last cruise, was that they did not have a point savings chart to give us on the ship! The chart they had only went up through Spring.

John

I booked this cruise using points and did it in Jan. They did not say anything about a 7 month requirement. I did book while on board intending to pay cash, then decided to use points instead after we got home. I'm pretty sure we did not get to keep the $200 on board credit. I don't know how many points we might have saved if I would have "made up my mind" right after getting off the ship. I will keep this info tucked away for future trips though. Thanks.

DD wants a 7 day cruise for herself and her DH with us for her college graduation in 2007. As we will most likely use points, I will call DVC as soon as we return from this one and get that "intent" on the record. This is very helpful info.

My head is spinning tonight. DH was on the computer this afternoon...apparently while the kids & I were napping. :) While cleaning up after dinner he asked what tickets we are going to get for WDW this year. I told him I planned on the 7 day with the no expiration addition. He then said that he priced Amtrak from NC to Orlando and how would I like going this summer. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I guess he has forgiven me for the car incident this week? :wizard: Now I need to plan a 5-6 day trip to WDW in June. So much to do...so little time!!!
:hourglass

Hi everyone, we are home! D.C. was a lot of fun, but exhausting. We decided that we need to go back in 2 or 3 years to see everything that we missed this time. Maybe by then DS won't feel the need to be "up on shoulders" everywhere.
Lisa ~ That is great that you get to go to WDW this summer. I wish we lived close enough to do that. As far as the glow bracelets go, we would like enough to make 4 necklaces and then maybe about 4 just to wear as bracelets.

I plan on having deposit money available for another cruise when we sail, but I am not certain that we will rebook. Okay, who am I kidding.... once we get on board I am sure that we will be ready to rebook right away. :rotfl:

Talk to you later, I have to go get the dog and do the grocery store run.

We are from Highlands Ranch and will be sailing December 10th also! I have a (7) son and (5) daughter (at the time of sailing)! I haven't told them we are going yet, but maybe closer to December we could meet at a McDonalds or something to introduce our seven year olds!

We all sailed Jan. 2003 on the "According to Jim" Disney Western cruise, and had a blast. We even selected the same rooms for this cruise! :earsboy:

The best thing I brought was the over the door shoe hanger. Saved tripping on multitudes of shoes, and we could stuff tickets, room keys, etc in the top compartments. I will try to remember more!

I did do the DIS meet on that cruise, but unfortunately only 4 families showed up!

Linda

Welcome aboard Linda . . .

Our DD will be five at the time of the cruise, and Lisa Graves also has a 5yr old little girl . . . so if your little girl wants some company from some DIS kids, I know of at least two little girls who she could have fun with!

John

Welcome Linda! When I get our website up & running again I will have a page just for the kids in each age group so that they can start to recognize each other.

My mother-in-law thought this was a great idea! There will be four of us and we'd be interested in necklaces. Let me know if you need any help with this. I'm getting very excited about dressing up for the pirates thing. Can't get the father-in-law or the husband into the mood but I'll more than make up for them, I promise.

Hey there disnut8! I saw your post about your inlaws being concerned with disembarkation. Tell them that if we can get off the ship & be in our car with two little kids in their car seats & pulling out of the parking lot in less than 15 minutes...they wont be waiting long at all. ;) We have had 4-5 suitcases & several carryons. The porter has loaded up ALL of our stuff on his trolly thing and led us thru customs then loaded up everything in the back of the car while we put the kids in thier carseats. VERY easy & stressfree! :) We always put aside $15 for this, around $2 a bag.

Welcome Linda! We will have to get the boys together before the cruise to meet. Jacob has already been emailing Lisa's son so he will be really glad to have two friends on board. Now I just need to get my DD 10 a friend for on board.

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome! Does anyone know what December weather is like in the Eastern Carribean? January 2003 in Castaway Cay, we had a lot of wind. So much wind that Disney wouldn't let anyone rent the water boats etc. We did snorkel and found the underground Mickey (after some directions from the lifeguard)! :flower:

Linda

Linda,

Last December 10th, we had a beautiful day at CC - although it was a bit windy, I am not sure if the boat rentals went off - I do know that the parasailing was cancelled. I would bet that most of this is hit and miss, dependent on weather that day. The water was a bit cool, but I got used to it easily, and once you are in, with the bright sun I was not cold.

Don't look for the underwater Mickey unless they replace him before we get there. He was lost in the Hurricanes last year that passed right over CC.
