12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Angie...

I lived in Beaverton for about 2 years. I miss Oregon.

We are just about 15 miles from there over Chehalem Mountain. Beaverton reminds me alot of Orange County 20 years ago. Except the weather, of course. :sad2:

Wendy, DD should have a great time at 3 1/2. Our DGS was that age when we took all the kids/grandkids to WDW and a 4 day cruise in Dec 2004 and he had ball. He still talks about it. They are all west coasters too, so had not been there before. I'm sure she will remember it.

Very cool! Yeah, she's just at that age now (2.5ish) that she's asking to go back to Disneyland (so apparently she knows what it is now) that by then, she should really be able to have fun at WDW. I know she'll just love the Oceaneers Club since she loves the characters at DL/DCA! What fun!

DD was 3 yr 2 mo on our first cruise & she was in awe. She still talks about things that happened on that trip. It was truely magical!!!

Okay, almost on page two. I am going to start planning another family's WDW vacation. They are going in July and have not gone before. My cousin Wendy and I have planned several WDW vacations. We get to live vicariously everytime we plan someone else's vacation. It's like we're there......

so how do i get my friend/neighbor to get on this board?? their family of four are on this cruise. i've mentioned disboards several times already. hmmm.... they are super friendly except not on the computer as much as i am.

Missmulan,

Maybe sometime after Lisa gets the web site up again, you can invite them over to your place and show it to them, and tell them if not for the DIS, you would never have met all of these people.

Then maybe you can show them our thread . . .

John

Missmulan,

They will probably get a kick out the fact we are having a discussion about them. That or a little creeped out that strangers care about whether they look at a particular website or not....

I think you have probably done your part by at least mentioning that this thread exists. The rest is up to them.

Like I have mentioned before, on our last cruise, several of us had an ongoing dialogue going. However, once onboard, I only ran into one DISer and even then, when I saw her again over the course of the cruise, it was like she was avoiding our family....Website chatting is an interesting phenomenom. You are really talking to total strangers....Hopefully, our group will be much more willing to bridge any initial nervousness and have fun seeing each other throughout our cruise.

The thread for our first cruise was a wonderful group. We had three organized meets over the course of the week...one was a last minute wine & cheese during the kid's naps in one DISer's stateroom on the last sea day. We sat with one family & ran into someone all the time. It was great knowing so many people on the ship...made the difference for us since it was our first time on the ship. The last cruise we didn't see each other as much but it was nice all the same. It seemed that I kept running into two DISers at everything and of course we were linked with John's family for dinner. Our families ended up spending alot of time together during the day and went to every show. It is really nice for the kids to have a real friend on the ship. :)

With so many of us on Deck 7 forward we are bound to run into each other.

MissMulan, some people just aren't internet people. Some of my "real" friends can't believe that I communicate with so many people online on a regular basis. Between this board & my shopping board I probably have more friends than here in town...some of them I have "known" for five years. It is easier to communicate with the kids around online than on the phone most days. ;)

We had a very active DIS group on Dec 04 10 day Christmas cruise. There were about 160 of us, including the kids. We had several events that were lots of fun. We had a meet/greet DIS meet on deck 10 about 3 o'clock for those who could make it, then met back in that same spot for the sail away. Someone brought bubbles for all of us to share. We had a wine tasting in Sessions which was wine that we each brought from our own region. There was a cost for the food they set up, but no corkage fee. I don't know the cost as 3 of the DISers paid for that without telling the rest of us. We also had an ornament exchange, a group photo on the steps in front of Lumiere's, a scrapbooking session taught by another Diser. We all linked our dinner reservations, one early group/one late group, so we all sat in the same area on the same rotation. Our cruise meet link is still active. We had to change the name to protect the innocent and keep it from being deleted by the webmasters as the cruise was past. We met a lot of very nice people, spent as much or as little time as we wanted with them. It was really fun to see friends all over the ship. One of the DISer teenagers won the blackout bingo and several of the kids were in the talent show. They had a large group of supporters there with them. LOTS of fun all in all. DH and I would love to get some of those things going for this group as well.

MissMulan, you might try sending the link to them in an email and invite them to "lurk" for a bit. They may become as addicted as the rest of us. :sad2:

Great ideas everyone...instead of sending her this link, I'll just email her simple, step by step instructions one more time. I don't want it to be too overwhelming. Heck, if that doesn't work we'll ALL have to blast an email message to her!

Hey everyone!! We just got back from a quick trip to Disney! It was Princess Haley's first trip to the World!! She is 5 weeks - and it went much easier with both girls than I thought. We made it through two sprng training games - I couldn't believe my two year old did so well...now I am wishing the cruise were next weekend!! Hope everyone is doing well!

So is anyone going to rebook while they are onboard?? Just wondering. I'm pretty sure we will.

We booked two on our last trip, which is this cruise and one in Dec 2006. We will probably book another while on board as our DD will be graduating from college in 2007 and said she wants a Disney Cruise with us for graduation. Likely will be Dec 2007 :Pinkbounc

But of course! Not sure when it will be yet though. Now isn't a really good time to think about it though. I backed into DH's car this morning. :( Somehow he ended up parking behind the explorer & part of the van & with the kids acting up badly this morning...well...I looked in the rear view mirror of the van & didn't see anything. :( He still hasn't seen it but said not to worry about it...right. :(

Oh, forgot to ask who wants to get the glow bracelets for Pirate night. Three of them can connect for a necklace. I can get 200 of them for around $20 shipped...so that would work out to .10 each. Just post if you are interested & how many you would like. I can just bring them with us & get them to you on the ship.
