12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Angie, we can host the wine & cheese in our room on Thursday, however I am hesitant to set the time because I want to go to the behind the scenes theater program & of course we don't know when that will be. Of course, it doesn't have to be Thursday. We couldn't do it until 3:15 on sea days due to the matinees. That will give us a few minutes to check the kids into the club before getting to the room.

Who will be back on the ship by 2 on Tuesday or Wednesday? We aren't planning to be on land for long so 2 or 3 on those days would be less rushed too. Input please! :)

I am sending out an email since I can't do a poll this far into the thread. Please reply to vote with your first choice then second so that I can see when would work best for the most. :)

Wine & Cheese:
Sunday 2 pm
Monday 3:15 pm
Tuesday 2 or 3 pm
Wednesday 2 or 3 pm
Thursday 3:15 pm

Thanks for the replies ladies!

Good to know we won't have a "situation" at the slide -- and I'll bring a lanyard or something to hold the cards!

Angie -- The area you live in sounds divine! I love the NW. I've been lucky enough to have spent some time in both OR and WA -- but it has been years since my last visit. My mother grew up in the Tacoma area. Both she and I were campers at Spirit Lake (Mt. St. Helen's) as young girls. My aunt and uncle (coming on the cruise too) lived in Beaverton for years along with Bellvue, WA) - though they are now in NC. My grandparents also used to have a house on one of the San Juan's. Somehow, however, I've yet to get to Cannon or any of the other beach areas of OR.

My DH (graduating from Pharmacy in May) and I are considering a move to the NW in a year or two. We might just have to spend sometime in your neck of the woods and check it out! Spokane is a possibility too... (I know -- less rain, more snow! --- but lower cost of living too!)

Thanks for all the info --- and I say YES to the condo on St. Thomas! If you don't come back on the ship we'll know what you've decided! Ha!

Just checking in. I have my 4 year old niece here today with my DD while my sister is moving. I am cleaning, doing laundry, trying to get Christmas cards done, putting together the packing list, and checking in!

John

Wow everyone is busy today....I am just now taking a break since 7am! Both girls are napping :) I managed to get a set of blinds up...we special ordered 2" wooden blinds and I put two windows up and the other two have been sitting here for a month! They are heavy!! I have the other one ready to go but it is 80 in across and too heavy for me to finagle in there by myself without knocking something down. So I'll wait for John to get home. They are tiling the pool today!! I am shocked...Saturday work??!!
I also cleaned out this teak cabinet we have and it is by the front door ready to go to the curb. It is a hutch of sorts and was really quite a job for me to get the top off by myself. I cleared a spot for the xmas tree and attemped to get it in the stand myself but that didn't work too well.
Laundry - ughh...I've done 3 loads today and I am still working on the rest. I am trying to get the rest of the stuff packed as well. :)
Tonight I am going to get my nails and feet done and do some more packing, we are making chili tonight!! Yummm!!!

Sorry to hear about your drive John... We woke to 3 or 4 inches this morning. Nothing to bad. The drive in wasn't bad, just getting out of the neighborhood was slick. They had sanded everything else pretty well.

Max is a mix. Part border collie and part something bigger than border collie (we are thinking maybe lab). We got him from a puppy rescue center when he was 12 weeks old. We were hoping for a medium size dog, but he is definately bigger than we hoped. We love him though. Here is a picture of Max and the snow from today.

Uh, just to clarify....I have NOT visited ALL of those wineries! :drinking: :drinking1 :bitelip:

Sure you haven't..... we believe you Angie...... ;)

Maggie.... We got our lanyards at Walmart for something like a dollar. They worked pretty well. I had to go buy new ones this year though because I had stuck them in my fanny pack after the cruise and a pen exploded in there and messed everything up.

I just got home from work a little bit ago. I am going to get some lunch and start some laundry....... I will check in, in a little bit.....

Ok - I am getting off these darn boards and finishing up some stuff before DH gets home!

Your Max is a cute dog! :dog: :dog2:

Ok, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir it is. I think I have a 2002 from Erath. Erath was the one who started the wine industry up here. Granddaddy of them all they say. 2002 was a good year too. Morkert 2004 Concord is not too bad either. Very fruity! :teeth:

Also found our lanyards from last year. They are DVC given away at the meeting on the ship. They still have our DIS pins from last year on them. I may leave those on. They have our name and DIS names on them.

The Texas/Colorado game is turning out to be a blowout and a bit boring. :cheer2: Another 40 minuntes or so and USC will be on.

Halftime! So far looking good. :cheer2: Of course this fat lady has not yet sung. :rotfl: Another 30 minutes to play. :cheer2:

Angie -- save your tastey wines for when you get home... you know, when the post-cruise depression sets in  and the nice 2002 noir sounds like heaven? I would be very intersted to taste what you made though -- what variety is it?

Okay guys -- what's all that white stuff you all are talking about....s-n-o-w? Huh? What's that!? You might find it funny to learn that this morning my DH did the first mowing of our winter lawn. Can you believe we actually overseed our summer lawn in order to have a winter lawn? Then again, since we don't get the white stuff...I guess it gives us something to look at in the winter...? :sunny:

Okay -- so I'll have to buy some lanyards .... will my shopping for this cruise ever come to an end? I'll look for them tomorrow. I don't shop Walmart though (yes, I'm one of those darn liberals that refuses to shop there!) so I'll have to scope them out somewhere else...

Anyone else crazy enough to have just started sewing projects so that the kids will have some matching clothes? God help me... ouch, just sat on a pin...

-Maggie

Maggie.... I think that I saw the lanyards at Target too. I can't remember for sure though. The extent of my sewing is buttons and badges on GS/BS uniforms.

I was just sitting here making chili for dinner thinking that this time next week, I will be getting ready for my first ever dinner on the MAGIC!!!!! :cool1:
