12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Vanessa,

Once you get the hang of it, the pole thing really works great. Much better than putting up a ladder, having it sink in the mulch, and having to move it every step of the way. I'm not too fond of climbing either. The clips screw into the pole, and then you snap them on the gutter and unscrew the pole. They then have a clp to hold the light wire that you can lift up and place with another attachment on the pole. I put all the clips on first, and then strung the lights. It was much easier than me looking like Clark Griswold climbing on the ladder.

The pole with the attachement is real handy for putting lights up on high trees too, and also for hanging ornaments on the top of the tree. I really used it a lot.

Lisa, what can I bribe you with so I don't tell Mike??? Remember last year, I looked like the odd one, with the pirate scarf, ear ring and patch. Do you think people are dressing up more now that it has become more of a regular thing?

John

Well my John will be in full Jack Sparrow attire except he shaved his goatee after Halloween! I also lured him to believe the entire ship was dressing in pirate garb.

He is a good sport anyway...:)

did anyone order anything for their room? gift basket, etc?

last time I ordered the champagne and strawberries....the food was a huge platter and pretty much was wasted since we ate lunch etc.....um, I don't think we wasted the beverage, maybe that has something to do with Haley!! :)
I also had ordered Samantha a gift basket from Shirley a pink bucket with snacks, etc. Not sure if I will do anything this time. I would like a DH basket so it could have beer in it and I wouldn't have to lug it onboard. I wanted to order the anniversary stateroom celebration but it is no longer offered!

I take care of our own goodies. The kids will find Tinkerbell gifts every night with their towel animals. They will get a lanyard with 16 pins on it that they can start trading when we board the ship. I honestly feel that we have already received a huge gift with our upgrade. All of the things that I have been planning have been for the kids. That is something that I actually get to enjoy myself. :) DH already bought the beer.

John, that pole sounds great. It is a little more complex than the mop handle that I used to put up the 12 dozen stars for the carnival in the cafeteria. LOL! I was using the huge ladder that I was scared to death of to slide the paper clips into the ceiling tiles. The janitor brought the pole to me to see if it would work. I was able to use a 2 step ladder to put the rest up. :)

Mike will just have to wear his pirate outfit. LOL! I think that there will be a few more people dressing up than last year. DS can't wait to wear his Hook costume and DD has been sitting as close as she is allowed to the ironing board while I have been working on their skirts. :) The tropical wear is going to be saved for the first night in PC that isn't formal.

Jordan called me a bit ago. He was sitting in LA traffic. He should be home and on line soon. Boy, he really missed 2200 today. Might hit 2300 tonight!

My DH cleaned house today! I thought he was getting out all the decorations today but he cleaned instead - even did laundry!! Whoooo hooo!!!

:earseek: I'm sorry, Vanessa, I don't understand this statement. :confused3

Well, good night all! I will be sewing & packing tomorrow. I am under strict orders to stay away from the school tomorrow. Something is going down and I will gladly stay out of the way when it all hits the fan. ;) It will be ok but the person whose lies are going to be exposed isn't going to be very nice to be around. This is when I am really glad that the PTO president & VP are there to deal with the messes. It is going to be alot better once this is all over with. POLITICS! Good grief!

I'm hitting the hay too!

Angie - DH just surprised me by doing laundry, tidying, mopping and general picking up! He is not a cleaner!

Oh, had me worried there for a minute, Vanessa. My Prince Charming does all the princely stuff and I do the princess stuff. :rotfl:

MrsMork, have fun in the parks! We decided to do cruise only as we did a week at WDW last year and are taking our son's family to Disneyland and California Adventure in August. I am looking forward to meeting all of you! by now it is 10 DAYS on the east coast :cheer2:

Hi! Does anyone know about excursions in St Thomas or St Maarten? We have been told that we can book on our own cheaper and we are bringing our own snorkel gear. How do we find them? Who can we trust? Also, what do you do with your stuff while in the water?

Which port has the best shopping? :cloud9:

I am totally new to cruising, and totally new to this forum discussion! With a little over a week to go, bags packed, I am starting to look around to see what everyone has to say about this cruise! My husband and I will be on the 12/10/2005 cruise to mark our 25th anniversary (9/13/05). We are so excited!!! Lillygator, are you still discussing??? :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Wow, you had a LOT of posts to get through if you just started reading this thread... ha ha ha.

Welcome and congratulations!

Wendy, it's funny - I thought I would just look at the last few pages and see what this is about - now I am hooked - wondering what information I can glean. Still trying to figure out the LINGO that everyone seems to have. :confused3 Thanks for the warm welcome! 10 days!!! Tammie :Pinkbounc

What happened? I am gone for a day and it's posters gone wild.

I called Angie today to confirm our MGM meeting on Thursday,Dec 8th. It was nice talking to her. She's as fun as you would think she is.

Welcome to MAGICFOR2.

Yup, it's a madhouse now. Ha ha. I'm zzzz but still have much to do. Ordered Christmas card pictures online tonight (12:15am) and am printing my Christmas letter as I write this post. Haven't even worked on my packlist yet. At this rate, I'll have to rely on my old person's brain to try to remember everything to bring. Not a good source of information, especially 4 days before we leave. EEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!

Wow!! This time next week we will be packing the car! Yippee!!! 7 days now!! :)

I went to bed last night and was reading through the info DCL sent....no Cuban cigars brought back in, what the duty allowance is, etc....no in my docs I have Nassau immigration forms?? I am guessing my TA made a mistake? I am not going to worry about it, I am sure there will be plenty of forms around.

Wendy - wow ~ we haven't even gotten a pic yet for our cards! I was hoping to do that on the ship when we can all actually get in a photo! :) We started getting a cold front here last night, and I hope the rain has stopped!

I feel like I am definitely overpacking, esp for the girls - but then you know how kids are, they could easily spill something and need extra clothes. So far I have:
2 garment bags
1 large rolling duffel
2 princess rollers
I duffel of toiletries, etc
carry on/purse and camera bag

I am going to try and limit it to that. :)

We did get the Bahama forms this year. Last year they had run out so I needed to fill them all out in the terminal. Didn't take too long.

So, Vanessa, is that everything for the girls or do your DH & you have clothes fit into something too?

Tammie, we have actually talked about alot of stuff over the entire thread. You may want to skim thru it to help with your planning. Also, if you search the trip report forum you will get more information about private companies that DISers have used. I will get you updated on the website this afternoon & get the link to you.

Wow, don't post for a couple of days and there are 50 posts to read through! Think we are getting excited or what! :flower:

I had a bad cruise dream last night. It was almost the end of the cruise and I realized that I never made it to any of the Dis meets. I was really upset because I wanted to meet everyone and then I realized that I didn't even bring my list of who is in which room so I couldn't even call anyone. Then I woke up.

Welcome, Tammie. Hope to meet you onboard too!!!!

One week from today we will be headed to the airport!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:
Man, I have a lot of stuff to do before then.

Vanessa... we are planning on doing our Christmas picture onboard too for the cards. I had been thinking about bringing everything on board and stuffing envelopes then, but I think instead I will just stuff them when we get home and get them out in the Monday mail. I have the labels printed off and the letters printed off. I think I would rather not carry them because more than likely I would just end up bringing them home with me to stuff.

Angie.... What time were you guys planning on meeting on Thursday?
