12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Happy late birthday to your daughter!! My DH's birthday was Monday so he was almost a Halloween baby. I am sure that she will find some things there that she will enjoy. I am hoping that my DS will go a little more often too. Hopefully, we will get lots of people on this cruise meet thread and maybe there will be someone his age on board that we can meet up with.

We had a great time at the Halloween party - now we know what to expect for next year!!

We are almost at the year mark for our cruise!! That is definitely something to get excited about. I will be on a serious weight loss mission once this new princess gets here...I figure I will have about 10 months to really do something. I WILL be back into my prepregnancy jeans before the cruise. (isn't there a rule...if I write that 100+ times it will automatically happen?)

:) I think that is a rule, but I think you also have to do a little dance under the full moon. :)

My countdown clock is under 400 days now. Yipee!!!

One year and one month from today and we will be sailing! :boat: Wish it were sooner! It is cold and snowy here tonight and I wish I was sitting on Castaway Cay! :teleport:

Hi everyone! I finally convinced DH to take the plunge and plopped a deposit down on our very first cruise. We're so excited! (In fact, I am spending too much time thinking about the cruise rather than concentrating on our upcoming first family WDW vacation! Still have so much to do since we just decided to go a couple months ago.). We're booked in cabin 6040 and my two boys will be 5 and 2 when we sail. You'll probably see me on the main cruise board asking geeky newbie questions because I know NOTHING about cruising and I am a information junkie/research-oholic.

Anyway, looking forward to counting down the days with you! Cristit14, we're in northern Colorado.

Welcome, welcome!! It is nice to see our group growing....!!!

Jennifer - my two girls will be 3 and almost 1....are you planning on using Flounder's nursery for the little one? Our 3 and 5 year old may be in the same club although I think they do ages by 3-4 5-6...I am not sure....I have only used the nursery before.

We are in cabin 6548...just across the ship from you! (well a little diagonal!!)

Oh my, yes, I am hoping that my little guy will like Flounders! It's hard to tell how it going to go right now. He's 15 months old at the moment and does NOT do well away from us. We've gotten paged every single time we've left him in our church nursery, for example. We've only left him with a babysitter at home once so far - we're alternately proud and embarrassed by that fact, LOL! - and that went well because he had his big brother with him. We'll just play it by ear. I have heard they limit the amount of time you can sign up for Flounders; I wonder what happens when your child doesn't want to cooperate during your assigned times?!?

I have no doubt we'll have trouble dragging my older DS *out* of the activity center. He is very social with kids his age and has never had a single moment of stranger anxiety in his life. He is, however, socially naive and I am wishing that he would be with the younger group; his group is 5-7 I think and, at least right now, I can't imagine him interacting successfully with a 7-year-old.

Looks like we'll be at WDW at the same time this year too. Er, doing the math - you will have an almost 1-year-old NEXT Dec ... are you doing the parks 9 months PG?!? Very brave! We're looking forward to MVMCP on 12/14! Thanks for the welcome!

Wow - we will be at Mickey's VMCP on the 14th too!!! Are you eating beforehand? Right now we have Chef Mickey's planned....but that is all subject to change....
I am due Jan 31st so I guess that would make the baby around 10 months by cruise time (almost 1 to me!)
We had planned to cruise this December but the pregnancy caused us to change to next year!! :)

Welcome Jenjersnap! Where in northern Colorado are you? My folks live in Loveland. Your 5 year old should be fine in the 5-7 group. Remember he has a whole year to mature. My DS will be 7 at the time of cruising. I am sure that he would love to play with your DS. Right now he likes playing with the 4 year olds in the neighborhood. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want!:wave2:

Just bumping us up to page one in case anyone is looking for us. :)

Can't wait until it is time to go :hyper: .
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Hi everyone! We are getting very excited. I have started looking for pics of the kids areas on the net to show my girls. I'm trying to get them hyped up, which isn't too difficult.

does anyone have suggestion about a garment bag? Mine finally fell apart about 3 years ago. I'll need one big enough for two suits and two or three nice dresses.

Thanks,

Shellie

I am so sorry it's taken me so long to answer - going crazy with this trip coming up. Never thought planning a vacation would be so logistically demanding. Hope I get a chance to relax at least a little bit while we are at the World; and I am praying that my two boys handle the sensory overload well. Any advice from the veterans?

Lily, I will be on the lookout for a VERY pregnant lady at MVMCP on the 14th. :p We're eating at the Crystal Palace beforehand. Do you think you will try to keep your DD out for the whole party? As long as we can get a nap in that afternoon, I think we're gonna try to catch the 2nd parade and do rides during the 1st parade, etc. - all the hints to avoiding the big crowds. My boys are both night owls anyway and I guess we have the advantage of being two hours behind so midnight will seem like 10 pm for them. I think I remember from your sig that you are staying at WL? We're staying at AKL and Ft. Wilderness cabins as well as off-site for a couple nights. *sigh* we chose FW cabins because my mom, who lives in Northern FL, was supposed to join us and that was where she wanted to stay, but she cancelled. We would have liked to try the Poly but there's always next time!

Cristi, I live in Larimer Co., not far from Loveland at all. What a small world.

Shellie, I need a new garment bag myself. I've never had one that didn't fall apart after a few flights, even my expensive Delsey one got trashed by Northwest Airlines (it emerged looking like it been hanging out of the cargo hold, perhaps dragged under the wheels ... )
;)

jen, I know what you mean! Do you remember those old Tourister commercials with the gorilla? The airlines must hire dozens of gorillas to handle our luggage... I just bough a rollin duffle with a garment bag attached to it for my dn college graduation next month (from overstock.com). If it's big enough I might order another one. I have a feeling it will only do for shirts...

By the way. What do we pack clothes wize for the kids? Should I be planning on purchasing specific items of clothing for my two dds? or can I just pack from regular clothes we have (includes princess dresses, nicer dresses, church dresses, play clothes, etc)
Does everyone else think like this? 400 days until our cruise and I'm thinking about packing already!

Thanks, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE:hug:

Whew... I am finally back on the boards. I was gone all last weekend and I haven't been able to log on since I have been home because I forgot my password. Now, I have it written down.

Did you guys find a garment bag? I can't help with that since I don't own one anymore, but I guess that I will probably need to get one before the cruise.

As far as clothes for the kids, I will be packing from their normal clothes. I figure with it being close to Christmas I will be able to find DD a couple of nicer dresses and I don't have a clue what I will do for DS. He does love to wear a tie though, I will just need to decide if I will get him a jacket or not. I may look at clearance racks after Christmas this year for a jacket. I was also thinking about looking at the clearance racks for something for me to wear for formal night.

We are getting really excited for the trip already. My DD, Rachel keeps asking why we can't go this year instead, (we just cruised in July) :D

Just got off the Magic and rebooked while on board for this cruise. Can't wait to go back. Have 3 DD who will be 5, 7, and 10 by cruise time!!!

Welcome to our group! Were you just on the Eastern or Western? My DD will also be 10 when we cruise and my DS will be 7. We will have to get them hooked up.

Jen and Lilly,
Have a great time on your trips next week! :wizard:

We were on the Eastern.

It would be fun to hook our kids up. This time my DD had a pen pal from England. They emailed for a year before the cruise. We sat with the pen pals family for dinner and quickly became friends. Her mom and I had also emailed for the year too!! It really stunk to say good-bye though! Especially when they live so far away. What an awesome experience for all of us though!!!

I know that Rachel would love to have a pen pal. This last time she was emailing with girl from NJ for a couple of months before the cruise. They hit it off great on the cruise. We ended up hanging out with her family quite a bit too. PM me if you want to exchange email addresses.
