12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

John,

Sorry to hear about whats going on:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: hopefully things have taken a turn for the good. Prayers to M for a quick recovery.

All,

Sorry its been so long since my last post. A lot has been going on around here and i get side tracked very easily (it's a middle aged blonde thing:lmao: ) Any way, lets see...I retired from the Navy in February and started a new job at Lockheed Martin here in Va. We Sold the house in December and moved about 3 miles away. Going from 1200 sq feet to 2400 sq ft is quite a change but the neighborhood is better and quieter. Of course the mortgage payment is bigger to...:lmao:

Chris started working again at Busch Gardens in February and Liz actually made honor roll for the the first to marking periods fro the first time in her life. Maybe middle school is a good thing, instead of the same teacher all day like in elementary school. She has even started playing the Clarinet and is actually picking it up very quickly.

Right now it's all about the EB in August though. Everything is set (planes, ships and automobiles;) ) but we are still waiting a room number. Hopefully we'll get it once you WB's leave

I haven't been back through all the posts, just the past couple days, but I hope everyone is doing OK and hopefully I will get back her more often.

Mike

Brandi, hi I hope all is going well with the family and school and sunday school.

Mike, sounds like you have had a very busy year. WB seemed to get room numbers at about 30 days out so it looks like the EB still has a wait to go. It's been a crazy build up to the repo cruises, hasn't it.

John, hopefully Manuel is holding steady once again today.

I really miss the heyday of this thread. :sad1: There are other threads but none like this one where if you didn't look at it twice a day you were way behind! I miss you all. :flower3:

I hope everyone is doing OK and I hope we see you all sometime soon. pixiedust:

Blessings to each of you. :grouphug:

PS: I really need to stop posting at 4AM :surfweb: I get way too sentimental.

Hi Brack !

I was just doing a little DIS check and I am glad. I get a little sentimental too. Glad to see your post. I really miss everyone, and the old geek thread. I don't have a lot of DIS time, so I don't get on board much at all. It takes too much time for me to catch up, so I just have to do Drive By's. I'll let Angie keep me posted. I never have much to say anyway. She gets there first.

How's Annette? Give her a DrHug for me.

One weekend left before the Canal cruise vacation starts for us. I am not ready at all. Working a lot of 12 hour days, mixed in with 10 and 8 hour days. I really need this upcoming break. I am suffering from total body ache. I have decided that work is a killer. :rotfl: Especially for this geezer. Now I just wanna take pictures. Joy has the right idea. I love her logo design and business name. Very nice. My Biz name is "Slices of Time". I am not doing much in that area right now. But, someday..... I still have all of my studio stuff packed in storage. I don't know how that's going to work with the Van on Steroids, but I am sure I'll figure it out. I may just sell it all. :confused3

4 White Lightening Strobes background stands and light stands and reflectors and two softboxes, etc. I'll bring it to your place and we can play with it. :cool1: :thumbsup2

Take care all! :grouphug: :goodvibes

Hi all -- P&PD for all those that need it... seems like we could all use a round of it...

Scott's last day at work is this Friday. He couldn't stand it anymore and gave his notice. I support him but as the primary financial handler in the family, it's causing me alot of stress. This is not a great time to be unemployed. He wants to go back into grocery and there is a fantastic new store that will be opening here in 2 months... his app has been in for a couple months already. I am hoping they start interviewing soon.

In the meantime, we're scrambling to figure out how to make ends meet on my salary alone. Anyone want to buy our DVC points? I think we're going to ditch our 150 VWL points and just keep the BCV ones. It's so darn expensive to fly from the west coast to FL now and we seem to only be able to get there every other year.

I finally got my website up and running... www.studio-je.com and have been booking sessions for almost every weekend. Of course, I'm portfolio building right now and have far to go, but it's nice to have someone else besides my kids in the portfolio.

Anyway, that's it from here. Hope you all have a great week/end.

Joy, P&PD for your family as well. I know that scary feeling, yet knowing it is the right thing. Looking at your website. Nice photos, I know your business will do great! :thumbsup2

Just a drive by post to say my brother had a tracheotomy done yesterday to make him more comfortable with the vent. He is also now able to respond by shaking his head yes and no, but still a bit out of it due to the meds. It's going to take some time explaining everything that has happened to him in the last two weeks, but at least we have that opportunity now. He has really stabilized, so hopefully we can get him moving in the right direction before we leave him for two weeks on the repo cruise.

Forgot to mention . . .

Yesterday morning (7:00 am) , before school, my brother's students held a prayer vigil for him at the flagpole in front of the school. There were about 40 students and staff there, and they asked me to lead them in a prayer (something I am not used to). It was very moving, and I also got to give them an update on him afterward.

These same students have also organized a blood drive for him at the local hospital. Two of his former students are taking my 86 year old father out to lunch today and are going to play 500 rummy with him this afternoon to keep him company.

For all those who sometimes think the current younger generation is hopeless, there is still plenty of hope. And yes, this is at an inner city, Public High School. These kids have been spectacular.

My kids are doing well. We signed Jake up for Kindergarten

Eliza is getting big...and she is our little maniac!!!! You guys have all been so busy! I guess everyone is ready for this school year to be OVER!!!!

Brandi, post a couple of photos. I cannot even imagine how much they must have grown.

That is fantastic news John!!!! :) You are going to need this cruise to relax after the strain your family has been under the past month. ((((HUGS)))) I hope that you are really able to enjoy the cruise next month.

I love coming here. It was so cool to read all of your posts. I got nostalgic when I saw all of your names in the e-mail.

John, continued prayers for you and your family.

Joy, is it a chain like whole foods or a local store?

We will miss all of you on the Panama Canal Cruise!

Kim

I just got some great news regarding school and the August Repo. The principal told me that the kids are not counted on the roster until they set foot in the school that school year...SOOOOOOO...that means that they will be marked as "no show" until they get back and that is not an absence!!!! :) We may just not have to rush back on Labor Day now. :) It would be less expensive for us to get a hotel room in Florida and get an early morning flight out of Orlando on Tuesday. :)
