12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

Aaron's last day of school today. His DD, DrHug and I are going to pick him up at 1:30 then go to Frenchtown Pond State Park (about 2 miles from his school) and drown a few worms. :cloud9: Maybe the fish are moving about a bit now that the water has had a couple of days to warm up a bit. Seems they like to stay in the deep holes until the water warms.

I really wish that they would go back to that old schedule here, Angie. Now the legislature is trying to pass a law that would allow the districts to decide and the tourism department is screaming and whining that they will lose so much money if they shorten the summer like that. DUH! If you live in NC you are not going anywhere in August because it is just too dog gone hot! They get three more weeks of revenue in May that way too with the surrounding states supplying the August revenue.

I think each school district in Montana sets their own sechedule. Frenchtown (where Aaron goes) lengthened the days and shortened the number of days the kids go to save on the budget. :thumbsup2 He got on the bus at 7:40am and got back home at 4:30. They do not start school until after Labor Day this year. Long summer! :woohoo: He also had no homework other than reading and studying his spelling words, we never heard about the testing, no notes home to tell us he should get extra rest or anything. They do NOT stress the kids about the testing and, guess what....they do excellent! Montana schools score high in all the testing and Frenchtown scores high in the state. :woohoo: We got a newsletter a week or so ago and the school board is not going to be asking for additional money in the May elections....again! I am so glad we were able to get them up here with us. :goodvibes

Our life is so hectic now a days  Annette just finished her Women's Retreat at camp so now we are in full on packing mode! The PODS in the driveway and we are filling it up. I ordered another POD but I hope to not have to use it.

I can't believe how much stuff there is. :guilty: Most of its my Disney "museum". We have been selling and giving away lots of things that we have hauled around for years.

I'll be glad when we are finished. Our arrival date is somewhere around June 21st. :cheer2: We have to be in office on the 24th for a welcome with the staff and employees. I hope to be unpacked and maybe go to WDW that weekend. I just saw where I'll miss the Star Wars weekends by one one week this year. :sad1:

Well everyone I decided on our next cruise and it will be Halloween 10/30/10.... Layne would not have missed Marching Band 14+ days for the transatlantic so perhaps another time.... If anyone is not booked for next year come join the Halloween Cruise :)

That makes sense.

That does sound wonderful. I would have no problem pulling kids out of school...if only I could pull myself out!!! LOL

We're out at Men's Camp for the weekend. West Virginia is nice and cool which is good for all of the "sports" the guys are doing.

Annette and JoJo are hanging out inside taking it easy. popcorn:: When we get back home it will be full on packing and cleaning. :headache: In three weeks we arrive in Tampa.

I noticed that my posts per day has taken a big drop. :surfweb: I'm afraid it is because of Facebook time. :confused3

I also just noticed that I am coming up on my 7th anniversary of being on the DISBoards. :thumbsup2 My how time flies. :hippie:

Not quite like the old days ..... :confused3
