12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

I was on vacation this week.

Today, Sophia and I did two things I wanted to do all week . . .

There is a bike trail that parallels the Ohio-Erie Canal. Sophia and I rode it today, 16 miles! It is fairly flat, but I was still pretty proud of Sophia.

John, super cool!

16 miles, way to kick it Sophia!

Pj

Oh . . . the other thing . . . after that we went swimming for a few hours.

Brandi, it is always the hardest with your first one going off to school. The parent's perspective is so different from what I am sure you have experienced as a teacher.

That is the truth!!! I can remember being a young teacher and having parents cry after their kid went into the school. I would stand there and think to myself "What do they think we are going to do to their child????:confused3 " Now...I know how they feel. I have so many little concerns - the unrealistic what if's. He is ready and I know it. I just keep telling myself that.

I packed his lunch tonight in a soccer ball shaped lunch box...that was killing me!!!!

Thanks for listening.

We all survived the first day. Jake loves school and is ready to go back! That makes my life so much easier!!!!! They passed a strict uniform policy for this year...he looks so cute!!!!! I will have to post some pics when I get them uploaded.

We head for the camp tomorrow for a weekend retreat until Sunday afternoon. We drive like crazy back home to wash/pack and jump on a SWA plane EARLY  Monday morning for WDW staying at OKW. This is our first DDP trip. popcorn::

School starts next week for us, but golf season is in full swing (ha) for Elizabeth. Her high school team won the state championship the past two years... maybe again this year! They're undefeated so far (3 matches).

We finally have a minute to catch our breath today. We have spent the last couple of weeks looking at homes. We wanted to stay under $200,000. Since our criteria changed to a larger home since Jeff, Jessica and Aaron will be with us, it was more difficult. We also had to have a spot to park the RV. I do not want to pay for storage for it when we are not traveling. We looked at so many houses. Everyday starting around noon and ending after 8pm. We were getting a bit discouraged because they were all either REALLY far out of town, or were.....well, needing ALOT of fixing up,:scared: in that price range. We did find one last week that we loved, but there were two offers made the same day and ours was the second. The couple thought they should accept the first one that came in, so we lost out and started over. :sad2: Sunday there was an open house within walking distance of the RV park we are in so I walked over just to take a look. Wowzer!! It was beautiful, immaculate, just the right size, has a fenced, cement rv spot beside the garage, a huge lot with beautifully landscaped yards and a hot tub on the covered cement patio out back that looks out at the mountains. And the asking price was !$193,900. I hoofed it back to the RV park and drug Dennis over there to take a look. We made an offer on Monday. We offered their asking price (even though we do hear it is a buyers' market) since we both thought that was a very fair price considering what else we have seen in that price range. They accepted our offer and we should be taking possession on Sept 8. Sept 9 we will fly to CA to help Jeff and Jessica move their stuff (and DL of course, gotta use those annual passes we bought!). Dennis will get to go to the Ohio State/USC game on Sept 13 and then we will head north with the moving truck. We plan to go thru Oregon and get our stuff also on the way. We need to be back here in MT by the 17th so Jeff can go to work on the 18th. THEN we will be retired for real!! ;) :goodvibes

Wait until Lisa and Mike see this one . . .

Lisa, does Mike have the camera glued to his hand?

Thanks, John! :) Yes, the camera glued to one hand and Bobby glued to the other. :lmao: Kaitlyn is very happy to see this picture of "the happiest day of her life." DHChrisva's DD Liz is to her right. I was behind them.

We got home this afternoon and tried to start the 3 weeks of laundry but the dryer decided to die. I figure it is almost 20 years old so will go out and get one in the am...or find a laundry mat and get the good deal I found at HD.com. :)

I am so overwhelmed with everything that has happened the past 3 weeks. This is the first cruise that I have been happy to get off the ship. The kids bickering got old and the kids on the cruise weren't very delightful. There were a few who needed a swift kick to the rear. Some bad things but more good. We got jipped out of the slipper dessert for a poor excuse of a thing in its place. GS wouldn't have K's bday card signed...with CJS on it...but a lab counselor got me what I needed to make her day special. :) The kids really enjoyed seeing Aly & AJ and I stood in line from 12:00 for their 2:00 pm signing...K joined me at 12:20. Cabo was burning hot after the cool weather in LA but the next day was chilly and most of the cruise was overcast which helped a lot. :) I can't remember what we did there...no excursion. Aruba horseback riding was a big hit with K. PC day was awsome!!! Cartegenia was beautiful! The only negative there was being bombarded by sellers everywhere every second. They also would not negotiate...so we left there with no souvies....$45 for 4 screen printed basic Ts? NOT!!! PV was nice because of the group we were with on the trimeran. Acapulco was short. We hit the market and the fort while W stayed on the ship in the lab. He was quite the social man staying out until 12 or 1. Rude awakening now that school is here. LOL! Pirate night was priceless...just wait for the pictures. It will never happen again like this. The ship's Jack was ticked off again. OY! Get a grip man!

I will write more when I get my breath back.

I am glad you had a nice time. Sorry there were some bad....glad there were more good! Now I guess you have to get those kiddos off to school!!!! Wow...I bet tomorrow will come early!!!!!

It got here way too early!!! Now off to do the laundry. At least it will all be done in a couple hours.
