Havent posted for a while, thought I probly should. I had a very realaxed weekend at the campground, even with all the park mess ups with there schedualing and such. The kids swam, did crafts, used the paddle boats, played mimi golf, (seems like a million times) we played candy bar bingo. (everyone brings and puts into the pot a bar, then the winner gets to pick whatever one they want) It was a lot of fun, the kids only lasted about 5 games thoe, so at the end I had 9 cards instead of my 1. We went on a hey hey ride with yogi. The hersy slip and slide was so messy and the kids loved it!. They had and ice cream social, then they brought this guy out saterday night to sing and play music, I made my two girlfriends dance with Yogi so I could get a picture, lol. We had the birthday party saterday. Yogi brought her the cake and sang songs with us and pic. of course. We puthe cake which was half left (costcos cake) back into thier fridge which has a paddle lock only for employees use. We went to go get it sunday and there was hardly any left. One small row. someone saterday night had aten a lot of it. When it was time to check out they couldn't even find us in the computer. So the kid gave us the sights for free and the birthday party. $130. I didn't think it needed to be that extreem but what the heck. eveery time we were in the office, whoever was in there they had messed up there reservations also, must happen a lot. There campground is a timeshare thing it was only $3000, for the free camping all year but I wouldn't want to pay the $350 mait. fee a year to camp. when I do it for free all the time. But like I said I had a lot of fun. We bought a 20 question ball yesterday at walmart you guys should check them out. Tell next time Mum of pirate: pirate:

I will be ready in plenty of time for the cruise. The swim actually sounds good.

Spoiled and Brack, glad to hear you are both on the mend. Good to see you back on the boards.

Mum, sounds like it was a good time. I still would like to try that slip and slide with the kids!

Hi All! My DH and I plan to cruise on the 12/9/06 Double Dip Magic. That cruise will be our 7th DCL cruise. I haven't booked yet, but will do so when the 11 month window opens for DVC members.

Slindamood -- has your sister-in-law, Gail, told you that we are cruising with you? Well, we are!

This year, I was on the 3 day Wonder in June with my best friend, and her daughter, Alyssa, my goddaughter who is like a granddaughter to me. In 3+ weeks, we will cruise on the 9/3/05 Magic.

On the Double Dip, it'll be just DH and myself (mid and late 50s). We have 3 grown children and 5 precious grandchildren (all under the age of 3.6 years).

Will join back on this thread after our September cruise.

Jan

It changed, It is somewhere back in the thread.

DecemberDisneyDoubleDip, is the new name.

Ok I have been off the boards for quite awhile and I just happened to stumble onto this thread. We are also booked for 12/09/06, but when I booked this last Dec/2004 right when the dates came out it was an Eastern cruise or was I mistaken???? Can you, please, let me know what itinerary this is now?

Your help is greatly appreciated :paw: :earsboy:

Thanks
Minybear

Minybear and JanDave welcome!

We too have 3 grown children and 5 grandkids. Ages 60 (DH) and 55 (me), will be a bit older by the time this cruise gets here. :rotfl2: This will be our 7th DCL cruise. We are doing number 6 Dec 2005. :cloud9:

Hey MindyBear!

I guess they changed it after you booked. This is now the final castaway double dip western cruise, CC, COZ, COSTA MAYA CC. The ccruise after is a 10 day xmas cruise and I think the one before is a normal western cruise.

I meet you through Janet on my last cruise, we get to cruise again together, so cool! How was the HAL alasken cruise? BTW love DVC, thanks for the pep talk on that, sorry if they didn't put you down for reference, we asked them too. I am looking for table mates, if you are interested, I am doing this crusie solo, mom has to work!

Hi pjpoohbear
Nice to hear from you again. I am glad you and your mom are now offical DVC members at SSR. Janet also tried to get us as referrence but DVC told Janet since she (and you) are from Canada and we cannot be their referrences. PLus we spoke to the DVC rep on the ship at the time and she said you guys had spoken to them prior to the cruise so we couldnt get credit. Oh well.

Also I have some bad news. My husband due to his work and what he did with his work he cannot go into Mexico or his life will be in danger (sorry I cannot explain more). That is why we wanted an Eastern we cannot do a Western cruise. So after I learned last night that this is a Western I sent a email to DU (kinda angry one since they didnt notify us of the change). What would have happend if we found out this was a Western weeks prior to boarding and this cancel policy!! My husband would have been in a panic. That would have been a bad situation, but thank goodness I found this web site (I am so greatful). So reluctantly I have told DU to cancel this cruise for us :(. I personally would have loved to be on this cruise. We would have had a great time. Meeting more DIS people and seeing you again :). Plus we had a great rate for catagory 7 navagators verandaha and we had one of those downgraded rooms from catagory 5. So if anyone on the DIS wants 7120 (I think that is it) call DU now and try to get it before it goes.!!!

On the bright side we are now considering to go with RCCL to do an Eastern cruise out of Miami FL on 12/02/06 or do a 5 night Western out of Ft Lauderdal FL on RCCL on the same dates of 12/09/06 that doesn't go into Mexico. It goes into Jamaca and Grand Cayman.

MinyBear, aww shucks! But DH, I remember him as kind of a cutie got keep him around, is more important then a DCL cruise, maybe, lol. DU should have told you months ago, it has been up as a double dip since christmas, that is when I signed up for the cruise. This is one of the reasons I like to do my own booking, control, muh ha ha!

I guess we had put our name down at one of the booths, because when WLV was being sold we got a call from DVC years ago, but never did anything about it at the time, bad exchange rate. Never took a tour or anything, never had a guide's name, that sucks, you two are really the reason we were so willing to sign on the dotted line.

Thanks for the kind words Penny. Say hi to your mom for us. By the way Janet is getting ready to do her big cruise on 8/20. I am still incontact with her. She cannot wait.

Looks like we learned our leason regarding TA's. We will not be using a TA on any of our vacations now. I want to make sure I am in control instead of someone else. I would probuably not go with DU again due to this situation:(. I dont think DU will do anything about it :(. I am really disappointed I was looking forward on going on an Eastern cruise on 12/09/06 :(. Oh well. Things do happen.

How is the DVC? My wife and I are thinking of buying? Is it worth it? I received a quote for 300 points at the SSR for about 29,000. Should we do it?
What do you guys and gals think?
Mark

I have 200 points at SSR since they opened May 04.....

We are happy with it since the money that we would be paying to disney is going towards a lifetime of vacations instead of maybe 6-7 trips to a moderate or value resort.

Are you buying resale or from Disney? If disney, you may want to start out with say 200 points and then purchase an add-on later. They have had some great specials the last couple years for add-ons where they give you points discounts or extra points for one year or a free MYW pass when you purchase 120 points or more as add-on.

Good to know? I have that big packet of papers to read this nexk week. It is ALOT of money! Are you going to use your points for the cruise?

GoofyFD,

We used our points for a DCL 3 day in sept 04 (2A,1J,1C) and 4 day in Dec 04 for (2A, no kid :love2: ). (long story why we cruised within two months of each other. But basically my DH and I missed not being able to go to CC in Sept and we needed the down time.) They gave us a re-sailing point discount on the Dec one though.

However, this cruise we are paying cash. (going to DW with our points this x-mas in a 2 bedroom with relatives though and maybe next just ourselves next May. We're borrowed into our Dec 2006 UY already.)

It is actual cheaper to get cash rate for the cruise and rent or transfer your points for the money to pay for it. Cash passengers get better treatment in that you don't have to go through MS for changes, have more lenient cancellation policies, etc.... That and I will get the $200 on-board credit for re-cruising. (DVC points users only get points discounts and can't book until 11 mnth window)

We financed our purchase because we had a large down payment and the monthly payments aren't really noticeable. (and we get to deduct the mortgage interest!!! Every bit helps anymore...)

goofyforlife,
Thanks, Its allot of money! Your info is a big help. Thanks!!

GoofyFD,

Check out the DVC Board. You will find lots of good info there.

We are members at VB, BCV, and now also SSR - So I guess you could say we like it!
