Going to San Diego for my birthday next month.....can't wait. Good food, good friends and lots of relaxing.
San Diego is very pretty---and relaxing.

Gotta turn in. It has been a long week with not so much sleep and tough at work. Goodnight west coasters and good morning to all back east.

Good morning everyone. I'm home with my youngest. He seems better but I thought I'd keep him home for today just to make sure everything stays down in the tummy where it belongs. I just can't imagine what that is like to be a teacher and have to be around children ... not your own. .. who are throwing up. So - we're home and I'm doing carnival stuff. ONE WEEK and counting!!! I'm axious, nervous, ready for it to be over.

But get this - so my name must be on that list of "Parents who show up to help" because I've been asked to chair the decorations for our Teacher Appreciation Luncheon that we have. The theme is Around the World. First, we're doing an Irish Breakfast for them in the Morning. Then, we're having food stations from 5 different countries set up in the cafeteria for lunch. Mocktails...deserts...door prizes will be wines from different countries, ethnic restaurant gift certificates. Should be fun.

We're inviting them with post cards from around the world (Anyone know a good source to get them on the internet?) Anyway - here is where I'm excited - I'm gonna do up "Passports" for them. I'm taxing faux blue leather, putting it on cardboard stock, linen paper inside. I'll do gold lettering on the outside that says SJS Passport. Their picture from the yearbook is goingon the inside. I'm gonna ask someone to dress up as a US Customs and Immigration Agent and deliver it to the classroom that day. And we'll have stamps from around the world at the cafeteria. Doesn't it sound cute? Okay - a little patting myself on the back. Check back with me when I'm doing all 60 of these. Yup -60!

Anyway, gonna go make posters and games and stuff for my carnival. I'll check back in later.

Hope everyone is feeling better.

Congrats to Jordan on 1800.

Any bets on 2000??????

Karen--
You wonder why your always getting called to help with things. It's because you have great ideas!! :sunny: Do you mind if I use your idea for Girl Scouts? We're having thinking day activities, and it too has an international theme. I think the girls would enjoy getting a stamp after they go through each station. For decorations, www.orientaltrading.com has international flags on a banner that you could hang on the celing. There only like $3.00 for 15feet or something like that. I used them when our bible school had an olympic theme. I'm excited for you that the carnival is almost here. I'm sure everything will come together, though I bet you'll have more stories to tell us afterward, hopefully none involving blue paint.

Hope everyone got a good night's sleep and is feeling better today. TGIF, I can sleep in until 6:45 tomorrow and 7:30 on Sunday.

That is such a great idea!!! I might just have to use it too. :) We need fresh ideas. Off to help crack more nuts for our Vday teacher appreciation baggies. :)

Yep, Karen, I think you are definately on a list of doers to call on! Great ideas. :thumbsup2 I'm just surprised they asked when you are in the throws of finishing up your current project! :confused3 That would be real bad timing with me. You want me to do WHAT? :scared:  :rotfl:

Thanks everyone. Glad you liked my ideas and feel free to use away!!! I'll let you know any other details from the event as it gets closer - it is in April.

Thanks for the info on Oriental Trading. That's always one of my first stops. Can you believe I actually searched the net to find out if I can buy a passport looking thing...sure I can - for a mere $20ish each!!!...times 60...WOW!!! So then I went out to see about getting a gold letter embosser. Apparently they only come in round seal like things...unless you want to buy this machine for $5,000.....Guess DH is right - I've got expensive taste!!!

Okay - have a great night everyone. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Check out your local scrapbook store. You can get embossers...or embossing paper cheaper than that! It will take some time but definitely much cheaper! I will check at my store next week. :)

Lisa I love your new "Ticker" first I was thinking "holly?" :thumbsup2 Oya we are going at Christmas time :rolleyes1

Gosh! You guys were quiet last night! What happened on the west coast? I am trying to get the kids going while cleaning house a bit. Somehow I have gone all week without doing laundry & only have one load of darks & one of whites. Hmmm...if the same thing happens this week I guess that I will have to stop blaming the kids for all the laundry. ;)
