12/09/06 Cruise Continued ~ Pirating Bananas DIS Geekorama Part 2 Part 8

Okay finally home. Today was one of the worst days @ work. I can't belive bosses can be so lazy and lame. Mine decided he would work in the office for 90 minutes today but was having problems with his email. he uses a different provider than the rest of us and I was not able to figure out what was going wrong. After 90 minutes, I told him I had to go do the office administratives job (weekly check run) because she is out with family issues. Well that was not good enough he comes and gets me while I am trying to do a 187 check check run. he finally leaves but in walks the development director who has been trying to get our boss to look over some fund raising letters. I told him I was not able to figure out what was going on with boss's computer. He then proceeds to call my name every 10 minutes to come watch him email the letters to dear old boss. the check run is still only about half done. the dev dir finally leaves for a lunch meeting & I get to finish printing the check run over lunch. Oh and by the way we have a volunteer in the office who needs to be directed what to do every 30 minutes. I did not get the check run in the mail until 3:30. dear old boss called me three more times because his email still is not working the same as it was yesterday. and to top everything off, I forgot to call in payroll. I know that should be the one thing I never forget but with everything else going on I just plumb forgot. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I know it will be colder. I was suppose to play softball tomorrow but I just emailed the coach and said no go. I hope they have enough players but I am not going to risk reinjurying my back prior to the cruise.

Becka thanks for letting me know how many days. I just keep forgetting. It seems too long away.

Lisa, i want your school district. My DD got a two day suspension for taping a pencil to the back of someones chair. (note: it was longways, not projecting; but the idiots in charge called it assault) I told them i don't want to see it called assault unless there's blood involved......

This sounds like Oregon! DrHug and I are convinced the goal here is to have every citizen have a criminal record and harrassment and assault are the charges of choice. Ridiculous to call taping a pencil to a chair assault!!

I just figured it our Becka!! It wasn't me!!!

It was DH! He found that I have been not only chatting with strange geeky internet people, but that I have also actually MET some of them!! He then had the nerve to pretend he was me while I was passed out from exhaustion and decided to make people not like me! The nerve of him! Bad, bad DH!

If you are going to come up with something that believeable then I guess I will just have to forgive you. You sure are lucky that I understand DH's who pretend to be their wives with crazy Internet people!

Warning - irate mom logged in...with wine in hand!

I wish I could share the weeks of details...but basically, my son's 3rd grade teacher is just not a good teacher. Straight A students, like my son, are now getting Fs....she doesn't finish a chapter and gives them tests..she says a test is on one day and moves the test without telling students or parents. This week, she schedule a test on Wed. She "ran out of time" and didn't get to it so it was supposed to be rescheduled for tomorrow. There were already 2 other tests scheduled for tomorrow. That makes 3 tests on one night for a 3rd grader.

My DS hands me his backpack and heads to football practice and their team pizza party. I open the backpack and there isn't a single book inside. !!!!! INSERT STEAM RISING OFF MOM'S HEAD SMILIE!!!! I'm irate. I'm ready to drag him out of that pizza party that he earned and drag him home to give him a speech about responsibility and the importance of studying...so he can get a good job and read the Dis boards all day (yes, I can still joke!). I speak to a friend who was at the school...got a janitor to open the classroom...she got my DS's books..so...okay..now we have to study...but I'm still so disappointed in my son.

THEN...and this is why the wine was opened I get 2 calls from 2 other irate parents...who tell me that of the 3 tests that were scheduled...their kids are telling them there will be NO TESTS tomorrow. Huh?!!! I mean - okay, nice. But what kind of a teacher is this???? Thank God for other parents! Here I was about to chew into my little innocent child b/c I have no idea there were no tests. I am so grateful that these parents called me.

.....just to add...for the last month and a half....8 families have had meetings with the teacher...me included. My meeting was with the teacher and the principal who is now observing in the classroom b/c there have been so many complaints.

....AND .... this is a teacher who supposedly has 18 years of experience but has only been at our school for 1 year and last year she taught 6th grade but there were so many complaints, they moved her to 3rd grade.
