Mapquest says five hours twelve minutes.

Hershey Park is five hours thirty-two minutes.

Another place we would like to go sometime . . .

Sophia has gone to Idlewild several times with family, but we have not been there. That PA is too wide a state! Idlewild is only three hours away.

You could go on a "park" mini vacation. There are many things to do in Hershey. If you like coasters...that is the park for you!!!!

Sophia had Friday off this week, and has Monday off the next weekend. Too bad they did not string them together. She is going to miss Friday to visit her aunt in Williamsburg next week. Her other aunt and Grandma are taking her. Amy and I will be on our own!

John1
Get the pricing guns ready!!!! Look out folks we won't hear from those two for a whole weekend!

Yeah, this would almost have to be a more summer thing for us - sometime when we could take a long weekend and do both parks.

Oh man...we are thinking alike again!!!

ok well Brandi does not like my idea of taking my sewing with me to hotels. Believe me it is not my first choice for relaxation (and I will not be taking it on the cruise - LOL) but I do feel like I have crossed an item off the agenda when I do sew something that has the seam out after one wearing and I am mad about not getting it worn again.

I, on the other hand, am totally opposed to yard sales. Am I the only one? - Carla, you're often with me!!! It's just not worth the effort to make $60. with all the effort Brandi put in on the baking. We have so little free time - I just recycle or give away stuff we don't want. We have felt really good about putting LPO (large plastic objects) with a big FREE sign at the end of our driveway and knowing it is going to any home just not ours - LOL.

Actually, the last time we did this someone took the FREE sign that the kids had painted and hubby was mad about that. LOL.

Think about all that extra pricing time you would have if you weren't having yard sales. ;)

Since I'm not working right now I need the extra money. When I am working full time I don't have time to bake and sell it. Anyway....I do find a thrill in selling my stuff that we don't need or want any longer. I am a bad sewer...my mom or MIL do all sewing. If I have to sew a button onto something...I just throw it away. I know that is very bad of me...but I hate to sew. I love other crafts....strange I know!

All I can see is it is worth that effort to be able to relax and not have to worry about any souvenirs. ;)
Now that is the right attitude!!!! I agree totally!!!!

Layne is already playing the clarinet and to switch to Sax you must audition and the teacher will be receiving reports from the core subject teachers and he must have an A avg in Band to switch..... Kids wanting percussion also will have to try becasue there will be only 7spots for percussion. Everyone is welcome in band and band is divided into a few different periods but to change instruments becomes more detailed. I told him I would be happy with whatever he plays but he REALLY wants that tenor Sax spot.
I see. I am glad that you can still be in band. If he really wants the tenor, then I am sure he will do a lot of practicing. I will be thinking about him. Please keep me informed on how he does. I know a lot of schools have strict percussion rules because so many kids want to play that instrument. I don't have those rules...but when I go over the instrument choices...I don't play any percussion for the kids, I only mention it. I play the other instruments. It sounds "bad" but if I were to play the drums and such then most of the kids would pick them. Since they don't hear them they are only mentioned they really want to play them. It all works out. Personally, I feel that if the kid picks their instrument and is playing the one they want they are more apt to stick with it and actually practice.

This afternoon was "the crush" at our house. At the wineries that is a very exciting time when the grapes have been harvested and the wine making process begins. At our house it means Angie in the kitchen pulling grapes off the stems and mashing them with a potato masher for over 2 hours. They are all now crushed and waiting for DrHug to get the yeast in and get them working. This is the exciting time for me, NOT the "crush". ;) Our 40 lbs of grapes produced about 5 gallons of juice, seeds and peels. DrHug has found that with this type of grape you do not add any water and very little, if any, sugar so what we got is what we get. This will mean only between 3 and 4 gallons of wine when we are done and we will need to split that with the couple who arranged for the free grapes. We do have the white grapes coming tomorrow though, so we will have some of that also to enjoy next year.
Sounds like you are having a good time....will this make you two a bunch of winos????

My DS just left. He started begging to sleep at his Grammy and Pappy's house. I called them (they live about a min. away) and they were very happy to have him come over. My mom loves the fact that he was cheering and dancing because he gets to sleep over. Eliza is in bed for the night....hum.....I think I will check back in tomorrow! :wave2:

good morning all

well we finally booked our hotel for friday. we are staying at ron johns. it actually works out better for us since we have 14 people going in our group. we only needed 2 rooms instead of 4 at the other hotels.

did any read that we might get to see the shuttle launch on the 8th or maybe even the 9th. as of right now the launch is schedule for the 7th of dec at night but nasa stated that because of it being a night launch it could easily end up being delayed

Jill
Well, I haven't really caught up so I don't know where you are but this would be really fun!

Later Brandi! :rotfl:

Brandi - i just want to know the total time you spent baking to earn $60.
Becka - calculator please. Plus, if you are doing all that baking I imagine there are probably working moms who would be happy to pay you a decent amount for home baked desserts - not yard sale give away prices.

I always go to rummage sales and penny socials because they have the greatest tables of homemade baked goods - $4. a cake - less than you pay for a store brand cake. I just think you should get paid for your ingredients and your labor.

DD loves to go to yard sales and hunt up costume jewelry - we usually can find some fun pins and bead necklaces.

Kim - you have to give us the rundown on skating - what kind of time per week does Savannah put into it? She looks like a pro in the pictures - so beautiful and composed.

She must be proud.

Yes I love seeing DS's passion about this(band) and it is wonderful.........Hey it is much safer than where he is tonite.......Kart racing and hoping to win the point championship in his class.....

:Pinkbounc :woohoo: :yay: :cool1: :bounce: OMG I did not know you can get more than 10hrs at flounders until just now!!!! IF there is availability of course!

29,3xx something posts on Saturday evening? :faint: I was sure you guys would be much further than this by now. Are you trying to save it up for tomorrow so I can have a chance? ;)

Great being able to chat with you all last night even if I joined late. I still never figured out who was buying a softsided hot tub or how the subject came up :confused3 . I did get the impression some might wake up with a headache. The east coasters closed the chat at 1A, Caroline was the ultimate closer as it appeared she forgot to sign out - did you Caroline? I hope the kids are doing better this evening. Tana rejoined us and we want to get her to rent the original Poseidon with Ernest B. Hey is anyone game for a large conference call?

Angie good luck with the grape mashing. I had a vivid image of the I Love Lucy episode and wondered whether you were tempted ;) that or an ad for shout it out.

Elaine - welcome back! Yes, I forgot that you had gone to WDW. I hope you all had a great trip. I am still behind reading - I'm still on Thursday/Friday I think. Yes, you are correct - no yard sale/bake sales for me. I don't have the patience. I wish I could.

Brandi bummer with the coal delivery - all of that work at the yard sale but at the same time - you were able to turn money you already spent into something for the future (even if it was gobbled back up). That is a cool thing.

Kim, DD starts skating this month. She is getting on my nerves asking about it every week. Is this the week? Is this the week?!

April - WOW. Congrats.

Lisa - How is DD? I am crossing my fingers that no one else needs the bucket - least of all you. DD has been unusually whiny - so I am hoping that she doesn't come down with anything. I think I would need to run away if that happened. :lmao:

John, the CRV - we did make it there at 9A! We went to Panera's after and then DH took DD to Karate at which point I crashed for 3 hours! Anyway re the CRV:
I like the inside much more than the old CRV. I was surprised I liked the outside because I thought the pictures were "ok". A lot of the new EX touches were much nicer. Two weird EX missing items were Honda not adding the dual climate and electric seat adjust but at least they got rid of that wheel turning adjustment - I really disliked it. I like the changes to the console and it does not feel closed in. We chose the Accord EX V6 3 yrs ago over the CRV or the Pilot so I was really curious what I would or would not like. By the way, I do like the mp3 auxillary - I will admit I love the idea of no more moving Monster cable from car to car ;) . Both DH and I drove it. I have long legs and he has a long torso so that is why we commented on the seat adjust. I am always moving the seat back while he moves it forward. :rolleyes1
Overall it is a nice nice city drive the dilemna is the horses. They upped it a little and we live by a highway and anyone living in MA will tell you what its like trying to merge onto our highways. We are spoiled with the V6 because merge is a breeze. We went on the highway with the CRV and while we were able to merge and then pass you could really hear it working at it.
We previously drove the 2006 RAV4 and I must say I loved the power of that car. As DH said it really is an overkill of power but it was fun.
So many things to think about here.

We talked about the Acura - not crazy about the turbo and premium gas, same with the new Mazda. We'll probably drive them. We discussed getting another Accord and that is when I realized I really would like an SUV because I felt disappointed. I love our Accord - actually that is what we planned to replace until the Saturn let us know its 10 years had been good but were now going to cost money.

Okay - enough of my novelette. Still thinking and perusing...

I know DH and I will not be swinging from any trees now!
That is what I immediately thought after your second post. I know how much you were interested in that zipline thing.

Well I guess I should get back upstairs and get DD to bed. We had fun at the Ren Fest but more fun later at the Disney Store!!!! :yay:

I will see you guys tomorrow afternoon! :wave2:
