Ok, one more thing happened Thursday night. I went to the grocery store and they have these crock pot classics in the freezer section. Have you seen these? Anyway, I bought the one with chicken and red potatoes thinking I could just put it in the microwave or on the stove but no, I got home and it takes 8 -10 hours to cook in a crock pot. I tell DH this and he said. I think you have a crock pot in the garage that we got for our wedding. Keep in mind this was 16 years ago. Anyway, he went outside and brought it in. So evidently I do own a crock pot. I put that stuff in and cooked it all day. I see what you are saying, but I think I should have done my own and not the freezer stuff... It was kind of funny.

So they did this to you too?
Yes - with both of our children. The first it was a buffalo the second a tiger. We returned the favor for all 4 or our nieces and now our nephew. We just put thier higher...because of the bucket truck! ;)

Your own is much better than the freezer stuff. I had that already...it is not even close to as good as the fresh stuff!

Yep, I made a pork loin with bellpepper and onion in the crockpot today. Shredded it up and tucked it into a tortilla with the last of my homemade salsa from last year. YUMMY!!! DD is bringing me tomatoes to make more salsa in a week or so when they are good and ripe.

RECIPE

Kim,
Fresh has got to be better than frozen.
Here is how I do a roast and it is soooo easy.

First line your crock pot with a slow cooker liner bag.

1 get some little potatos wash them and put them in.
2 get some little carrots prewashed, put them in.
3 get some onion, mushrooms prewashed, put them in.
4 get a nice big ole roast and put it on top.

Water, skip it,
Spices, skip 'em.

Cook it slap all day.

Come home and enjoy a yummy meal.

Next recipe Turkey and dressing Yum!

Ok, Patsy, you have to have one BIG crockpot to cook a turkey! Share that one, Thanksgiving is coming! :stir:

RECIPE

OK crock pot turkey and stuffing.

Just cause I'm so stinkin bored tonight I'm even willing to talk about cooking.

Line the crock pot with a slow cooker liner bag. IMPORTANT!

Dump in a box of Stove Top Stuffing Mix.

Add 1/4 cup water.

Put in 1 or 2 three lb bundles of turkey parts or turkey breasts. I like turkey parts because once you break open the mesh bags they are pre sliced .

Cook it slap all day.

I usually end up taking out the turkey and cooking the dressing a little longer with the crock pot lid off to boil off some of the liquid in the dressing just before serving.

Now, the stuffing comes out really salty so if you don't like that taste don't go with this recipe!

It's a 5 lb crock pot and they are little turkey parts bundles or turkey brests. I do the big bird in the oven and usually get it wrong. I do still need my Mommy for some things!

Ok, I have a pork roast or chicken in the freezer. Can I put chicken and bbq sauce in on low for 8 hours?

See, I have no problem with the bird in the oven but it is only DH & I eating the meat so a breast would be more than enough and less mess to deal with.

It would work nicely for a turkey breast though. :)
Exactly!
DH loves turkey and sometimes he needs a turkey and dressing "hit" in the middle of the year.

So I need to look for turkey parts/breasts in mesh bags? I have not seen these at my store, but then I have never looked either. :confused3 Would they be in the fresh poultry section?

I make full on turkey dinner at least once a month. Stuffing, potatoes the works... So this is not a problem for me. I have never, however, made a roast. DH and I grew up with that every sunday and I think we got burned out. I have done some prime ribs, but no roasts.

wierd huh.
