OK back to my day,
As you may know I work in a small office with 6 men and me (the woman).

Patsy,
Lucky you....no female drama crap to deal with all day Oh, sorry, I love working with all the lovely catty females in our office :sunny:

I was thinking of taking a bunch of 1'x1' squares of white material with me to tthe park and have each char. sign one. Then when we get back putting on a pic of the boys with that char. on it. I might get a quilt done before they graduate, but maybe not. Any ideas like what type of marker (sharpie) or what type of material I need to use. Can I buy pre cut or just buy a sheet and cut it myself thanks. Mum

Mum, if you get up to this e-mail. I was able to get a ressie for 4 for brunch on Monday at 11:00. Alot of us got that time. I am going to try to change it to 10:30 once on-board if Lisa confirm's the large room for the others at the 10:30 time. Were you on Lisa's original list to use the private room?

If not i would be willing to share with fellow Dis'rs for you and DH.

That would be very nice of you. No I was not on the or. list. I did get in on the ruins tour before it filled the first ship thoe. After that we will shop a bit and then go to chi chi's. Thanks again. Now I have to check about transportation.

Mum,
1. You will want your squares to be 4" bigger than the finished square for your quilt. During travel time and so forth the edges will get frayed and ravvley and you will end up wishing you could cut them off. Then you will loose some more space to the seams around the edges. Mark of your 1' X 1' center with bright blue tape so the charaters will know where to sign.

2. I don't know of any pre cut squares that are available

3. Have mercy on the park characters. They are signing stuff with big gloves on and big heads. Give them something to press down on and an easy way to see where they are supposed to sign on the fabric.

4. IDK what kind of marker is best, Fabric or Sharpie. You will have to take a survey yourself and find out.

For more advice on cutting, trimming, and assembling the squares, see my website and click on the instructions link. Its really about Tshirt quilts but the guidelines would be good for the kind of project you are talking about.

Oh jodie, see now i have worked with mostly guys and i have worked in more female dominated offices also.

Quite frankly, i like working with the guys better. Sure they never notice anything, and you do have to ignore the "sailor" talk, and take the brunt of many jokes. But they do JOKE and can take a joke. The mostly female offices i have been in was with some of the most (pardon my french) uptight, politically correct, backstabbing wenches you'd ever want to meet.

Did we ever find out the real name for whatshisname that Jodi is marrying?

My wonderful fiances name is Paul......Paul & Jodie....And we just picked out our childrens names too, oh, we dont have any yet!!!! Savanna, Carolina, and Chase....Our dogs name is Chase, still living, and we love that name for a boy. So, we figured when the child got older and when we get in fights, we can tell him he was named after the dog :rotfl:

Yay Brandi! It sounds like you are in for a Magical and Exciting day!
I just got a call. DSIL was sent home. The doctor went over home delivery with her 2 times!!! I would be freaking out if I were her!!!! So I guess today isn't going to be the big day after all!

When i lived in PA, dry cleaning required a 2nd mortgage. ($8-10 a piece for womens dresses or jackets)

Here in MD, there is such a high demand that we have decent places that charge $0.99 - $1.09 per shirt and $1.97 for any other garment. (for a buck, i'll let them iron/starch any shirt they want.)
I am so jealous!!! I just had 2 of DH's suits done and one dress. It cost me almost 40 bucks!!!! You get a great price!!! I have my bridesmaid dress there now. I pick it up tomorrow. I fell in the mud....you can only imagine...I left that part out of my reception story.

I also lost a tack near the top. I am afraid to see what it will cost me.....YIKES!

It's a little late but i'd think twice about my doctor with a response like that....

There's no way i would risk giving birth at home, in my car, or maybe worse in a store or somewhere else. What is the doctor thinking? :sad2:

:wizard: for your DSIL and her almost here son.

Poor SIL, Brandi. Aside from the "what if" worries, there's something so depressing about going from thinking "this is the day" to being told "no."

Brandi - tell her to get a spicy mexican meal to go, drive over to the Emergency Room and sit there and eat it and see if she goes into labor! She will either A) stink up the room and they may ask why she is there...to which she can answer to be close to a dr. or B) go into labor and voia...doctors!!!

Got a medium sized embroidery hoop and center your fabric in it. It will hold the fabric more taut (sp?) and the characters will sign exactly where you want them to.

Most women are great to work with but some are just awful (none of us of course). It's the ones that think they have to be super tough, or queen bees that ruin the fun for the rest of us.

In my last office (mostly women) there was one queen bee that was bossy, picky, in everybodies business, and stuck up. When she quit, all 40 of us, men and women, heaved a big sigh of relief and had a much easier time of it. After she left we were like sisters.

I watch it sometimes....Mostly for the morbid curiosity factor.

The show is so not realistic at all. On one of the couples shows last year they had one guy who they claimed lost 50 lbs in the first two weeks at the weigh-in. That is soooooo unrealistic and is probably even dangerous. I would rather see a reunion type show where they come back a couple years later once real life kicks in again and see who has kept the weight off.

They go to extremes as far as exercise. Even the trainers have admitted that in interviews but they also do it under strict medical supervision. When I started losing weight last year I jumped into a diet much similar to the ones they use on the show and I exercised about an hour a day and I lost weight really fast that people were trying to say I was doing it unhealthy. I think it's just a matter of if you have a lot of weight to lose you can lose it really fast on a good program. It slows down dramatically when you get near your goal. I lost 90 pounds in less than a year and now I'm struggling to get the last 7 pounds off, it's slow now.
