Yes Kim, it is about an hour from WDW to the port - and actually a very easy drive. Nice job last night BTW - had I known you were going to show up, I would have hung around a bit longer . . . at least now I know I am not the ONLY one who can keep up a solo conversation.

Is that your county fair you have been going to? Sounds like a fun and sugary time.

Have fun in NYC - I bet it will be a blast.

BTW2, showed Sophia the new photo of Savannah that is on the website - she said "that's my new friend!"

Got to finish getting ready for our cookout today!

John1

I need a cookout at my house, do you cater? BTW I have decided that if you work with the health insurance companies, you already know how to talk to yourself (no offense if anyone works for an insurance company, I am sure you are great)).

Kim

Here I am again, talking to myself. I find myselft very sad that the summer is ending, but I want the cruise to come too, so I am conflicted. Does anyone else feel this way?

Kim

Hi Kim!!
I don't feel like summer is coming to end, since we're going away on Aug 19 (going to see my parents, but they live at the beach in South Carolina, so it's a family visit and a vacation!) Once the trip is over, then we only have a week until school starts (not until after labor day here!). And DS will have his birthday that week--so it seems like there's a lot of summer left!

I will be happy for the end of the HEAT we have had here the last 6 weeks or so. It has been brutal and you can't enjoy yourself outside then anyway plus it saps my energy. We don't really have any more big plans until the cruise so I will be happy to see the end of summer come upon us.

We have been working so much this morning going through stuff for our garage sale. It is amazing how much stuff we have piled out in the garage to sell right now but somehow the piles in the house don't look that much smaller! Is there some branch of physics that deals with this stuff? :rotfl:

I have also decided to NEVER buy another toy that has more than 2 pieces! I swear I have boxes and boxes of just pieces of toys. They never stay together and after 5 minutes the toy is not playable and I can't sell it without all the pieces either! My house is the island of lost toy pieces.....

Is it my turn to talk to myself again? That seems to be our thread lately....just ramblings from the same people talking to themselves over and over again! :)

DH has decided that he wants to be a part of our weight loss competition as well so John1 you might want to add him to the list. I think he is starting to feel the pressure of having to meet so many people in December that already know so much about him! :rotfl:

I don't want to start any kind of argument here but, what are all of your thoughts on letting kids charge on there key and/or giving them a budget for things to buy on the ship. (and no, I am not giving my 6 year old charging privileges, she would lose the card within 5 minutes)

kim
It completely depends on the kid. Our DGS who is now 16 went with us at 13 and we allowed him to charge. He was very responsible and only charged one smoothie per day at the Stack. :thumbsup2 Now his younger brother who is now 13, there is NO WAY I would let him charge on a card. I'd be in the Poor House if I did.

For those who are driving to the port for the first time: Make sure you get gas in Orlando!!!! There is NO gas between Orlando and the port area.

In February we had about 1/4 tank when we left AKL and just figured we would gas up on the way. We didn't want to deal with all the traffic there in Orlando so we figured we would just fill up 10 miles or so outside town! There was NOTHING!!!!! We really thought we were going to run out of gas. I never knew the gas light could stay on that long. I truly believe God was responsible for us not running out of gas. We finally got to I-95 and drove a few miles before we found a gas station. One of the scariest moments ever for us!

I work all night on those posts and get on this morning and where is everyone? Special thanks to Becka, John, PJ and Kathy for helping me not have to reply to myself this morning?

Becka, the fair (county fair yes john) has taken up all the free time I had during single parent week. But I am back and I missed you guys! I hope the hotel has wireless...

I am going to get DD some chocolate milk, be back in a sec.... Do they have chocolate milk on the cruise?

KIm
Yes they do! Our assistant server saw to it that DGS (3 at the time) had TWO chocolate milks every night at dinner. He would then throw up every night after dinner! Yuck!! :sad2: We did not know at the time that he had a milk sensitivity and too much of it makes him throw up. He now drinks Silk.

This will be our first time driving ourselves to the Port but we are renting a car that morning so it should be full when we start out. I do hate it when that light comes on and there are no stations around.

Hello everyone!

Just about a 1/2 hour until the guests arrive . . .

Another beautiful day here!

Kim, you'll have to ask Amy about the catering. I do the cleaning, and Amy does the cooking.

Check back later tonight.

Well I just finished going through 5 boxes of Nathan's old clothes. I was feeling pretty good about it but DH was looking a little green at times. I am not sure he is entirely ready to let go of the baby years. I think I was just able to confirm that I really was. I kept a few outfits that I could not stand to see go because they mean so much to me but it was only 2 outfits and a t-shirt.

Let me turn to all my new Canon camera geek friends for some thoughts/advice. (yeah, I know, I'm analyzing this purchase to death!). Yes, I will be getting the Rebel XT. My existing lenses (from the film EOS) are:
1) Sigma 28-80 macro (sigma can upgrade this; just mailed it on friday)
2) Canon 70-210

The XT kit lens seems to get mixed reviews. So I'm thinking body only, but then I think I need a wide angle lens. Also, the Canon 50mm f1.8 gets a lot of praise as a quality lens at a bargain price. And for yet another thought, DH would like a macro to take some photos during surgery (but has to stay far enough away to not contaminate anything!)

So what lens would you get to start: the kit, the 50, a wide angle to cover that end? And what macro would you suggest for DH? Thanks!

:rotfl2:

My DH is watching the info-mercial for the Gematic (the second generation bedazzler)!!!!! :happytv:

They just showed some spiffy bedazzled jeans....they sure would look good for formal night..... :rotfl:

Well it looks like I am talking to myself again....where is everyone this weekend? :confused3

It is too far away from another milestone to pirate:......

I was going to put a pot roast in the crock pot for dinner but I got up and immediately got busy working around the house and forgot. Now I don't know what we are doing for dinner. I don't have much here because I was planning on running to the grocery store tomorrow or Tuesday. The only dinner stuff I had here was the pot roast and a tortellini dish that has to sit overnight before you cook it.
