I usually get the flu shot but I am such a big wimp that every few years I just can't do it. Being pregnant was terrible because they keep poking at you. I spent months being terrified of even the concept of an epidural. Of course the reality of pitocin made me realize that maybe an epidural would not kill me but I was a complete wreck. Even with DD the spinal they gave me before my c-section about sent me into a panic attack!
When I went to the hospital to have DS, I was terrified to get the IV. The nurse said "Honey, you do realize why you are here and what is about to happen." I was much more afraid of the IV than the baby being born....FOOL FOOL FOOL!!!! OH WHAT A FOOL I WAS!!!!

John no longer has a b-day, he gave his up on 6-15-87. That was the day I gave birth to our son, Alex and it was also the last time John got to celebrate his b-day alone. That's right I gave birth on his birthday!! No cake that year!. Of course when Alex was younger there was no sharing the day,it was all ALEX! Poor John, now that Alex is older and we couild celebrate, and of course Sophia wants to have big parties for him, he doesn't want to celebrate, he wants to forget!!!!

Amy, tell Sophia that we can throw a party for him at the beach next year. ;)

My company gives free flu shots. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND people get it. It is done on sight and wee have one lady with 2 kids who cries every time. Her husband has to come in an hold her down. Her kids come in just to watch MOM. We give the whole family flu shots, so it is a family thing...

Kim
I would be the woman people tell their cult friends about!!!! :rotfl:

I prefer going to a chiropractor.
DH's cousin is a chiropractor. I'll try that one of these days but I'm more afraid of having my neck snapped than a needle.

Yep! You just have to be an obsessive compulsive planner who must have order, or size 10 1/4 c shoes....

Why do you think I want our thread to be #1!!!!

I really wish they could have given me the morphine before the IV, etc.. rather than waiting until afterwards. I might not have freaked out on them so badly!

Don't you just hate it when you are not in control of the situation! Except, when there is morphine involved, I can remember that warm feeling now....

We are a competitive sort aren't we?

After all I went throught to have the epidural mine did not work very well after all. It worked great for about an hour but then it seemed to stop working. I was crying so hard that because I was afraid and they kept telling me I had to be still. I still don't know how DH managed to keep me calm enough to finish!

Ladies, before the needle, ADAVAN, they gave me one before my laser eye surgery, made it all so easy.

In HS I wanted to be an attorney...then decided that I couldn't defend someone who was guilty so then paralegal...then moved on further into government & politics. ;)

Yes I am a control freak in addition to being an overzealous planner, etc.. Excel is my friend. :lmao:

Morphine! :thumbsup2 The best drug ever invented. I felt so good after my c-sections. I wished it never wore off! ;)

DH really wants the lasic. He is just a little apprehensive about it. They won't give it to me, so contacts forever...

Oh Lisa. That made me cringe. My sisters last labor was all back pain. That was the most traumatic thing I have ever ever experienced. She stuck it out hour upon hour because she didn't want to "disappoint" her husband, nurse, me, doula et. all. When she finally did have the epidural I told her later I wanted to take the thing and shove it in there myself. If I ever considered another that back pain labor cured me. There were 4 of us pressing on her back - ugh - the memory makes me shudder.

My DH had a very intersting day at work. They were at a job 2 days ago where they were all given drug tests. He does road work and they get subcontracted. The main contractor gave them all the test. There is a guy he works with that he keeps saying he suspects is using drugs. Well...guess who got called into see the boss today!!!! DH is one of the foremen and the guy who he has suspected is supposed to be going out with him tomorrow. DH doesn't know if he will even be at work. He doesn't know what happened. He figures the boss will inform them tomorrow. They all left before that guy came out of his "meeting."

I am glad they did the testing. I would always tell my DH not to let that guy drive because I didn't want someone who may be out of their head driving him around. I am not a prude but when you are "Playing in traffic" I think you need to have a clear head!
