Becka,

Can't one of you go to your boss and explain the circumstances and ask if there is not ONE week where you could get away?

I know I am very open to those kinds of requests and trying to work things out where possible. I always say to myself that one week will not cause the ruin of the company or the department.

We have had those discussions which is why we have been able to sneak in our weeks here and there during the winter the last few years. The problem is that my boss feels like next week is a bad time for me to be gone and he doesn't want to allow those weeks now. He thinks we should just go in the summer since we do have that time available for both of our jobs. DH's boss is a PITB about almost everything and she is not going to be easy to convince. She doesn't go on vacation and doesn't think anyone else should either. When I talked to DH he said maybe he could convince her to let us have the last week of February '09 (late in my busy season and early in DH's busy season) or something but we will just have to see.

We will survive but it just another disappointment for me lately. I guess I have just really been spoiled by being able to go in the off season.

I agree completely. If someone in my department wants to take vacation then they should. I know that there are "mission critical" times because we have them but they are not all of the time. If one of my employees came to me early and said that this particular week was very important then I'm doing my best to let them have it off.

One of my strict rules is that everyone in the department takes all of their vacation every year. It's a safety item for a Finance Dept and a necessity to my employees.

Hey guys!

I'm at the library and found us on page 2 and decided we needed a bump up!

We had breakfast with Santa this morning at our HS, and Sophia was so proud of herself because she sat on his lap!

The decorating has begun!!! I froze outside this morning putting up the garland along the front of the porch and hanging the wreaths from the windows. I made the bows this morning and measured out the velvet ribbon and figure out how to put them up there. Thank goodness for those plastic roof clips!!! Due to the river wind we get here now I had to use floral wire to secure the wreaths to the sides of the windows. They were being blown/slid back and forth along the top of the sashing. LOL! Mike finished up the garland around the door with greens from the woods behind us, strands of gold beads and more of the burgundy velvet ribbon. With the lights on it looks real pretty. We are going to have to find something to hang on the garland on the roof of the porch. I am thinking some of those oversized ornaments or bells but I can't find anything like that online so we have to go to the B&M....probably tomorrow.

I spent all day doing leaves, and too pooped to decorate outside too!

It was only in the low 30's here today!

Mike will probably take his new riding lawnmower for a spin tomorrow to clear up the leaves.

He is currently enjoying his new toy from his 3:30 am BF shopping spree. We now have a flat panel HDTV. The kids are happier that htey are able to play the game cube on the 27 inch we used to have in the family room. LOL!

I do have to ask why POC is showing on the SciFi network. LOL!

It's going to be hard to go back to office Monday after over 4 days off ....... especially since it is the first day of our annual audit ...... and my new Director of Finance's first day on the job ..... on the other hand though I only have about 10 days before our WDW trip

That is what is keeping me going too Brack. We leave here for WDW in six short days!!!!

later today. We can't see the grass in the backyard right now so they should have quite a pile to enjoy.

The Eagles just tied the Patriots, and I would like to see SOMEONE beat the Patriots!

We figure we are effectively tied with them since they still have to play the Patriots.
