Wow, a successful searching day online... haven't actually spent any money yet. Searched Kohl's online and saw a possible pirate top (but will go to the store to see it live--I'm luckier than Lisa and only live 10 minutes from Kohl's). Searched sewing patterns for something to modify into Captain Feathersword and found one (including "boots") for DS3's Halloween and Pirate night costume. Saw a thread on the regular cruise board that answered my question about little girls wearing their princess dresses to dinner--that's what DD8 wants to do and it sounds like others do it, too (I made her Belle's yellow dress--she's wearing it in the photo on our group's website).

Oh, and the laundry's not folded yet.
Woo Hoo! :woohoo: Do I finally detect a fellow sewer? DH is getting a vest from McCalls 3476. I love that one because it comes with lots of extra "pieces parts". Report back how the boots work out and I might do some for DD. Sorry folks, no $800 boots here.

Kim- The designs are great! Thanks so much for doing it!

Penny- That is something to add to the August newsletter!!!

Bracelet Sizes

Ok, I had no idea there were so many sizes to these things. The company told me most people including children prefer to wear the medium size. There are some people with larger bones especially bigger men who like the large size. My DD always wears them on her ankle, so a medium is plenty big for that anyway. What I did was order 40 of the very small childrens size for the little kids who may not want to wear them on thier ankle or who might lose them very easily if they are too big. I also got 60 of the large size as well. I have 200 of the medium size that apparently everyone wears. What I need to know from each family is:

1. How many of each size do you need?
2. Do you want them before we cruise?

If you want them before hand, and by this, I mean before the 10:30 DIS Meet, (except for those meeting on Friday...). If you do, I will post the cost of shipping by number of bracelets(as soon as I get them) and give Lisa my address to post on the website and you can send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I will send as I get them.

I have planned for each non adult to have at least 2, but not all in the little kids size. If our group stays the same size, everyone can have 2.

I guess I should also say that the sizes will be first come first serve.

I hope this works for everyone!

Kim

I posted that last message first in case I forgot everything while I was catching up.

As far as security, you all sound just like DH. And with the drugs the Dr. gave me to take right before security, I too can sound like you. I don't really know why that initial anger never went away, oh well.... I just walk through calmly and take deep breaths.

And how sad a sight are we that it is true a terrorist might place something on a child!

Lisa, Your daughter can also e-mail DD. She has been on a lot of planes. She has been getting calls from Delta to get an American Express since she was 2. (when we signed her up for FF miles) It is so funny to tell them you can talk to her, but she is only 2 and may not talk back. She only has problems when the plane tips at the very beginning. She does not like that.

Yes, indeed, sewing is one of the few crafts that I actually finish what I start. My friends laugh because I am frantically trying to finish costumes in time for Halloween--and I get more ambitious every year. DD13 was a pirate from Simplicity 4469 a couple of years ago, and DD8 wants to wear that shirt for the cruise. DD8's Belle dress is Simplicity 9902.

For DS3's Captain Feathersword, I'm looking at modifying Butterick 4632. I'm also considering McCalls 4952. Now I just need to get to the store without DS3 in tow because he seems to melt down in the fabric store.

(OK, sewing geek moment over.)

I use to sew & thought that I would sew alot for the kids. I made the nursery bedding set...even the sheets in matching fabrics. The bumper pad was 4x4 squares in the muted shades of green, blue, rose, & a golden yellow along with a white on cream print & a few matching prints. I even made sheets for the changing table & a single 4x4 bumper pad for that. I have everything packed up. My plan has always been to use one of the curtain panels for each of the kids...take apart the bumper pad with a seam ripper so that each side can be used (I made them identical). I will use the sheets for other pieces and make each of the kids a quilt when they graduate from high school. That is the plan anyway. :)

Anyhow...once I discovered Target 75% clearance & online shopping with codes...it just isn't worth my time anymore. Forget about the fact that I don't have the time to sit & do anything for me right now anyway. I have a long list of things to do when they kids start school in 5 weeks!!! :woohoo:

Hi all!! That is funny about MVMCP!! I just called to book our dinner at CM!! We thought we were going on the 8th....but may have to rethink!!

Lisa, that sounds amazing! The quilts will be a neat gift years from now. Quilting is something I'd like to learn when I have enough space to spread things out. Since I sew in the dining room/living room, it's a huge mess when I'm just working on costumes.
Of course, now the pressure is on for costumes each Halloween (and I do it to myself!)
Oh, and I try not to think about how much more I'm spending in time and fabric and notions...

Kim - the bracelets are so cool!!! Even those of us in the late seating can be the Kool Kids.

Can't wait to wear one.

Thanks!!!

Suzanne

Hey, I did not know we were not Kool Kids. I have been thinking maybe we will be the rested kids because we don't have to get up so dang early. My thoughts are that all the really Kool Kids will be wearing nifty lime green bands.

Kim, the late dinners are going to be the FUN KIDS, or so they claim, but they will have to prove it, lol.

Here is the design that Kim has gotten approved for the bracelets!!! They are lime green with glow in the dark writing that you can also see quite well during the day.

ROFLMAO! IDK what time dinner is my kids will be up by 7 am the latest. If we had late dining they would simply be cranky hungry kids at dinner.

It's on the website under DIS goodies. I believe someone is doing pencils.

I thought so - I guess in my mind it was Kim....I am trying to up my OT order to get free shipping!
