Our sandmound warning light came on last night. My husband gave me strict orders....NO SHOWERS....WASHING DISHES....OR LAUNDRY!!!!

WAH....WAh....WAH... I NEED MY SHOWER!!!! I got one last evening but I like one in the A.M. to wake up!

He was freaking out. It was pouring down rain and dark when he noticed it was lit. He said I can't use any excess water until he gets home from work today and checks it out.

I will be so mad if we need a new pump or anything expensive. We built our house only 6 years ago when we first got married.

Well we already moved up from 9 to 8! If we take away the cruises that already happened we would be in really good shape!

Well, I think we should take this thread to a small detour and you can explain to us non-sandmound owners, what does that mean? You don't have any water in your well?

Well Brandi - if there's no water in your well, sounds like you do need to drive down, help lay pavers and you can swim and take all the showers you want!!!

According to my feable understanding of wells and septic... I think it means that the sand mound is not proccessing the waste water and is full for some reason. Maybe a clogged pipe or something.

Some people have septic fields for waste water and it flows through rock into the ground. When a house is built in an area where the soil does not allow this to happen (too much clay or rock or close to water table), they build an artificial means of percolation for the water (ie sand mound.)

There are septic tanks around here...but not in our neighborhood. I don't understand how it is all tied to the clean water system. ???

I need more info on the sandmound. Is this a well related problem or a drain field related problem?

I'm asking because our drain field is nothing but trouble. And, if there's something out there that might help I'm all for researching it.

PS How about a shower at the Pilot on the freeway? yuk!

Thanks for all your replies on Norm the cat. DD still doesn't know. We will tell her this weekend when we vist at Grandma Camp in Tifton, GA. (6 short hours from WDW).

By the time I got home from work DH had already lined up a kitten at the vet. So, we won't be lonely for long. We will pick him up on Monday when we get back from Grandma Camp. DD will get to name him. I'll try to post Pics of both cats on Monday or so.

We have a septic tank here, but it flows thru natural rocks. The drainfield outlet did get plugged once....it was Thanksgiving when we had 30 some people coming OF COURSE!! EEWWWW! Septic backed up into the drain in the laundry room. UGH!! Funniest sight in the pasture when DH, DNephew, and DBIL were unplugging it. They took a long pole and pushed whatever the plug was out and then they were all three bent over looking to see if it worked. Well, they all, at the same time, jumped about 4 feet backwards when they heard the WHOOSH!!!! coming their way. We ladies were on the deck supervising and we were
