I guess we better figure out where we want to eat and when and get that set up!

Caroline - I hope your girls play their best tomorrow night! I will be thinking about them.

We took our son to see CARS tonight. It was such a big deal because it was his first trip to the theater. He was so excited! During the "sad" scene he was crying and said that he wanted to go home. It was so sweet...I guess you had to be there. He is a bit emotional for a little boy!

I loved the part where they went tractor tipping. That had us laughing. :happytv:

AWWW!!! I remember getting VERY upset in the theater when the mice couldn't get the key up the steps to get Cinderella out of the room to go to the ball. I was yelling at them & everything. :rolleyes1

Posting this for anyone who is lurking on the thread and has not submitted their info to the site so isn't on the group email list. :)

Hey there everyone! I want to make sure that everyone has the chance to sign up for this so am sending it out via email to the group. I have been in touch with David Villagomez from The Native Choice regarding arranging a group tour of the Chacobben Ruins for us. Their website is www.thenativechoice.com.

Here is what we have discussed:

Description of tour by David:
Some areas in different sites have been forbidden direct access by the Federal Government due to vandalism. The kids are allowed to climb the big foundations and almost all of the ruins. The archeologists are afraid that the ceilings of some unopened tombs may collapse, so some cannot be climbed on.

Kids will enjoy the tour. They will find small fruits like coconuts from a palm tree. We are not allowed to open them. The place has a nice jungle, termites nests, vines, trees, palms, bromeliads, and orchids. He will give some of the plants and leaves to the kids personally with an interactive tour as long as the parents agree.

Cost:
Adults and kids 12+: $43.00
Kids 11 & under: $40.00

Depart from the village of Mahahaul. Transportation to the village is $5 pp round trip. There is shopping in the village.

Please let me know if you are interested in booking this tour with the DIS group by Sunday. I need to get a count to David so that he can reserve the space for us & arrange for transportation...probably a bus for us.

Thanks!

Lisa

Angie, we usually travel to WDW at that time of year, and we always make ADRs... but whenever we've changed our minds and tried to go somewhere different, it's usually been "sold out" for the rest of the night or a really long wait... but these are at the more popular restaurants (Le Cellier, Coral Reef, etc)... so it depends on what restaurants you had in mind.

How's Aaron?

We love Coral Reef, so I guess I better at least decide which night we want to eat there. Golly, what DO people do that are not hooked up on this board to get all these helpful tips?? :confused3 :grouphug:

They grump around the parks complaining that they can't ride any rides because of the lines & can't eat where they want. ;)

Happy Friday to everyone else! Looks like it is gonna be a great weekend. DH and I celebrate our 11 year anniversary on Saturday. We had big dinner plans...looks like now the boys have their next playoff baseball game scheduled for that same evening. Ugh!

You said it perfectly!!!! My aunt went over Christmas week (for her family's maiden trip) and they never used fast pass and they were grumpy about the lines!!!! I warned her well in advance that she picked a bad week...but hey what do us repeaters and Disers know anyway... :rotfl:

Exactly! LOL! On our June trip last year I heard so many people say that they didn't pay for the FPs. :lmao: I excused myself & tried to tell them that they HAD paid for it & then explained it to them.

We don't do beaches other than CC on the cruise. I'm really not a beach person unless we are staying right there. CC just makes it so easy. :)

To help with planning...the tour with D&I will leave an hour after the ship gets to port & lasts 4 hours.

Okay, so... with a 7 and 4 year old, do you think we should try to take them on the ruins tour? My daughter has a very short attention span when people are not focused on HER! Although DH and I would probably like to take a look at them, I don't know if I want to put the kids in the club for half a day while we're that far away... We were originally going to just hang out at the visitor center.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: You just made my morning! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: Too funny.

We like to see the historical sites of an area more than doing beaches, particulary the first time we visit a place. The ruins will be much more interesting to us than a beach. We will be taking 7yo Aaron with us to the ruins. I think with the shortened trip that Lisa has arranged he will be fine and will pick up a bit of history he can share with his Daddy and his teacher when he gets home.

Joy, only you know what your kids will do. It will be an hour bus ride to the ruins from the city each way. The guide will be telling us the history of the ruins & village while we are driving there, along with answering questions. We will spend 2 hours at the ruins.

I was going to leave my kids in the club but after the way they acted on our trip to DC, I am confident that they will behave and be interested enough to learn something. We spent 5 10-12 hour days in the district, 2 of them on my own with the kids, and they loved all of it. On the metro back to the apartment they asked me if we could move up to DC because they want to go to the museums all the time. They also did well on the hour metro ride with no food or drink...or bathrooms. Now THAT really surprised me! :lmao:

Ok Lisa, since you brought it up I have to ask... Do you know if there will be bathroom facilities during this tour?

It sounds like you guys will have fun on the group tour. We unfortunately will not be joining you since we have planned to make CM another "sea day" and stay on the ship. :)

I am still trying to catch up from my training trip to KC earlier this week. I have been so tired the last few nights and I hope I can get caught up some this weekend. We don't have any big plans but I do want to take the kids swimming for a couple of hours this weekend (hopefully the weather will cooperate this time). My DD also woke up with a cough this morning so that may throw off any plans for swimming as well.

I feel like I am not planning enough for the cruise. With a WDW vacation I spend so much time planning which park on which day and ADR's etc.. that it feels like there is so much to do. With the cruise I can't even book anything until 90 days out and even then there is not much for us to reserve. I do need to make a list of items to get when they go on summer clearance. What is a poor plan-aholic to do....

This is who I have heard from so far.

I have emailed David to ask how close the restrooms are to the site. :) I have also asked him about the union dispute that I have read about on another board today. Apparently the taxi union is not liking that their company has become so popular & is taking business away from them somehow. People who say that they need to get to Mahahaul to meet the tour are told either that the company has closed down or they are changed for a roundtrip fare...which doesn't exist...then charged again on the way back to the ship plus pressured for an additional $2 tip pp. IDK about you guys, but having David pick us up at the port & not have to mess with the taxi system is sounding really good right now. That would make the cost $50 for adults & kids 12+ and $47 for kids 11 and under.

Hmmm, I definately think it'd be better to pay a little extra to have David pick us up.
