Mennards finally caught with their 11% rebate

Mennards was famous for their 11% rebate on everything in the store but they always made it sound like it was off on whatever you bought. But actually it was mail in in store credit.
The ads always said say faucets were 19.99. Then they’d day the sale price. Then they say the amount after mail in rebate.
When in reality you have to make another trip and spend even more to use the rebate
I’ve said for a long time this seems like false advertising

Yep... that's why I try to ignore what their 11% off price says. I always thought it was crappy of them to advertise that way.

I've found that Menards sells the cheapest stuff out there, very low quality. I've always shaken my head at their bait-and-switch "discounts," which all come back to them in the long run.

We supposedly had the 11% rebate on an expensive washing machine. We sent in the appropriate papers and never heard from them again! We would have received a substantial amount on the washer. It was too much bother to battle the for it. Yes, I am glad others are aware of it too. What a lie.

With annual revenues around $13 billion… this $4.25 million is seemingly nothing.

Especially if this is payment for years of deceptive practices. On 3 years of revenue that’s about $1 dollar for every $10,000 in sales.

We replaced our exterior lights and the same happened to us. You have to send the original receipt, there's no way to track, and it it takes 8-10(?) weeks to get the rebate.

Yea, we never saw that money. Menards said they have nothing outstanding for our name/address.

Not as much as a washer, but still a significant chunk of money.

I've never shopped at Menards. How does it work? Do you have to get mail in forms and attach receipts? Think of all the people you need to hire to process the mail? Sounds like a great way to bog yourself down in red tape along with the customers and piss off customers even if you're not trying to do so.

The count on people not bothering with all that flapdoodle. And the ones who do are unlikely to see their “rebate.”
