My hubby and I are going on a date tonight! :cloud9: :love2: :hug: I am so excited! Well - dinner and shopping...but the kids will be with Grammy and Pappy.

Tomorrow we are going to Knobles Grove (an amusement park) with my parents, my bro and his wife and kids, and our family. My parents are members of the local PBS station and they get free ride wrist bands for 6 people. This park is great because if you don't ride rides you don't have to pay. Free parking, free picnic areas, and free entrance. It's a great park but it certainly isn't DISNEY!

Look at Penny! Two tops in a row. pirate:

DGS passed his driving test today! His best friend, Samantha, took her test at the same time and she passed too so they are two happy campers today! Sam's mom and I took them to lunch after the test before returning them to school. Now the fun begins! :sad2:

Sounds like a fun weekend planned for Brandi. We have no big plans for tomorrow but will be going to brunch on Sunday. For the last 15 years or so we have met my sister, her family and my mom (Dennis' mom too when she was alive) for brunch at a restaurant that is exactly mid way between my sister and us. 51 miles one way for each of us. It's a tradition that has stuck and we all just assume that's what we are doing now. There are usually around 18-20 of us. It will be good to see all the family.

I just talked with DD and she said she talked with someone in personnel today and there are over 100 applicants for the job I applied for. :crowded: Whoa! :faint: It is open to employees of all other VAs as well as locally. I have always thought though that it does not matter how many people apply, if you are highly qualified for a position then you really wind up competing with 4 or 5 others after all the sorting is done. Kind of like public speaking. ::yes:: Talking to 100 people is frightening, but focus on just 4 or 5 of them at a time and it is way easier. We will see what
God has in mind for me. But just in case He is listening....I would REALLY LOVE to have this job! :teeth:

Our Dfamily loves Knoebels!!!! Mother's day weekend is a great time to go.

When we used to live up in Williamsport (4 yrs ago), we went at least 2-3 times a year.

Our church had annual picnics there and one place i worked had their summer corp. picnic there.

My DH's family is still in Lewisburg so we got up that way occasionally.

Hoping to make it once this summer.

Good Points -

I live nearby - plenty of other Dis'rs too!

SWA flys from BWI really cheap...... (will save you money getting to FL in December for the cruise.)

Our weather isn't that bad. (anything's warmer than PA in winter)

There are some nice rural counties that can be commuted from.

We hardly ever get tornados.

No brush fires.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know it's hard to just pick up and go but I wish you the best. :grouphug:
You made some very good points about fires, tornados and Southwest Airlines (my favorite). I thought of other good points as well:
There are trees in Maryland instead of tall bushes
When it rains it is usually gentle over a longer period of time not a year's total rainfall in two hours
There are others as well. I have become much more comfortable with the move andam actually beginning to look forward to it.
Craziness at the Disney store tonight. After dinner hubby and I went to the mall to go to the Disney store. I wanted to check out the new hawaiian pattern for the whole family. We checked it out then decided to walk around the mall a bit. I wanted the Disney store outfits and he was still stuck on the Disney Shopping outfits. Anyway after a meer 10 min. we decided to go back to the store and get them. I got Jason's, Jake's, Eliza's, and then.....Where did the women's shirts go???? I knew in my gut that they were stolen. I went up to the manager (who knows me from going to this store often) and asked if they moved the shirts. She says "no, they are back on the shelf." I said "I think they were stolen." She went back and searched around and sure enough the ENTIRE STACK was stolen!!!!
She called a different store and is having the shirt shipped to my house. I didn't have to pay shipping.
I was so mad at the thief I told the girl I wanted to go through the mall and find the nasty person who stole them.
The manager said that the Wyomissing store is the only one that gets ripped, on a regular basis, in their group of stores. She said it happens almost every weekend. She felt bad that the shirts were not there. I was annoyed with the thief and felt bad for that girl.
We also went to target and I got a kids Jack Sparrow costume for pirate night. It has everything for a complete costum all you need to add are pants! It was in the toy dept. and cost only $20.00. :banana:
Wondering if I can get some prayers - I'm being nominated for State Officer position for a Church women's group. I feel like I'm so young and unexperienced and they want me to run for President. I was going to try VP ... figuring I'd learn from others.
Anyway - can you guys keep me in your prayers that whatever God's will, be done! It is all so overwhelming right now that I don't know that I can make the right decision OR hear God's message.
Thank!!
K
Karen,
Proverbs 3:5 (New International Version)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Trust!!!!!
Glad that you are going to get your shirt, Brandi. That is upsetting. :(
We spent the day at the beach. It was a little chilly when the sun went behind the clouds but sure warmed up when they passed on by. The kids had no problem getting in the water. I got my feet wet putting DD's swim vest on her but that was enough for me! YIKES! It reminded me of CC in December. It was great to have 3 hours in the warm sun with the kids playing with the others around us & not fighting the entire time!!!!!! DS fell asleep on the ride home...so the peace continued. :)
Lisa - I am glad to hear that you were at the beach. We will be leaving in 3 weeks for OBX. I am a bit afraid that it will be to cold to swim. All of our other trips have been in August. June will be a first for us.
It was very peaceful listening to the waves & the birds. :) It doesn't look like I will be able to meet up with you when you are so close. :( DH will be in MD. I'm not familiar with the backroads so it will be safer for me to stick close to home.
Hope everyone is well tonight.
My DW and I went to see the movie RV starring Robin Williams. It is very funny. We had a very good laugh and it was nice to go out.
:thumbsup2
For those who are thinking of Jet Blue for flights, call in! The website kayak.com is showing jetblue flights when you search and you will be able to book on jetblue.com, but one can not search on jetblue.com as of yet :confused3 .
As I had been e-mailed a voucher from my last flight, no tvs, I had to book over the phone to use the voucher. So I called and the message lead-in said "booking until 10/31", but when the agent did the search, my dates came up and I was able to book the flights (12/05 5:50 am BUF-MCO and 12/16 1:20 pm MCO-BUF,) I wanted for $ 226.20 rt after taxes and voucher. Asked about any price drops, no issue, if I call the balance will be held in my jet blue account. :teacher:
So call in (1-800-jet-blue) and check it out, booking should be online within days. There was only one other seat booked on either flight before me. :woohoo: One day i will be the first on my flight, :rotfl:
Next step in Vacation planning: Magical express reservations, and this time I will see if they can do alternate mailing, as FEDex does not deliver to Condos here in Toronto, for some unexplainable reason.
Penny
Brandi, it is a crazy world where disney store shirts are the target of career criminals. Glad you found a set for your family to wear on the ship!
Lisa, glad you were able have a relaxing day with the children, and some extra peace and quite after the time at the beach.
Brack, hope all is looking up with your upcoming move and that those you work with are coping well with the forthcoming changes as well.
Angie, put your best foot forward and that is the most you can do. Once you are in the final group then, shine shine shine!
Penny
Ps: Working on a Saturday was ok, and by the end of June I will have 4 lieu days completed, with only 3 more to go before December, a piece of cake lol!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the wonderful MOM's!!!
If it was not for you guys we would not be here! :thumbsup2
Have a great day. :wave:
Thanks, Mark! I hope everyone has a good Mother's Day also.
Good guidance, Penny. I feel pretty confident that I will make the final cut. I think that we all interview every day we are at work and I have built a good reputation over the last 18 years.
Brack, we want to see that movie. It is showing at the drive-in here in town. Yep, we still have one of those. DD and DSIL went last night. They only run movies there on Fri, Sat and Sun nights so if we want to catch it at the drive-in we will need to go tomorrow night. Kinda late for a Sun night/Mon morning, but DrHug does not have to get up early for work Mondays so we might try it.
Lisa, the beach sounds wonderful! :sunny: We have been having a bit of :sunny: :sunny: , but certainly not beach weather yet. Although, last night on the weather forcast they said we would likely have a "one day heat wave around 90 degrees on Tuesday". :lmao: We were :rotfl: :rotfl2: A ONE DAY heat wave??? :confused3 Only in Oregon. :rolleyes:
