It is actually against the law to avoid it. Legally you must present a mix of secular and religious music. My school was really pushing for a totally secular concert. We did one a few years ago. The parents went nuts! They had petitions and everything. Now we do some of each. This went (not with my school but with other schools) to the supreme court and it is not unconstitutional to sing religious music. As long as you are not teaching religion. According to the MENC (national music educations group) if you do not do sacred music you are missing a huge part of music and doing the students a disservice. I thought this would be a good one to have done. That way if it comes up again at my school I can whip out my research paper.

I can confirm that the white house now has a Christmas Tree, no, a holiday tree no, I know, A TREE.

Went to the mall for the first time in ages tonight and saw my first Salvation Army bell-ringer of the season. Always makes it feel like Christmas! I let my kids put the money in the bucket, but I was alone and had to do it myself this time. The guy also opened and held the mall doors for every shopper going in and out.

The past 6 months have probably been the most challenging in a long time in my career. I have always stepped it up, worked long hours, been a team player etc. What never ceases to amaze me when you are a performer more work is piled on. I don't even mind that - its how it goes.

Wasn't sure about that pirate dress up thing? So, everyone dons real costumes? Is that your family in the picture? Did you purchase costumes esp. for the trip? So confuesd! My older daughter was a pirate for Halloween last year so that might work for her.

Gayle - don't tell the captain - we're not wearing pirate costumes, but our boys have cane garden bay pirate tshirts. Many people do, many people don't - whatever you're comfortable with. The Captain's costume is AWESOME!! diana

It was news to me too, so I did some sleuthing and noticed a little blue box with an arrow pointing down at the top left hand corner of the thread... Says "View First Unread" or something like that.
