Ok, a question for the women... do underwire bras set off the metal detectors? :confused3 I don't recall it ever being a problem for me in the past and that's the kind I wear but I just read this on the TSA site...

Avoid wearing clothing, jewelry or other accessories that contain metal when traveling through the security checkpoints:

Heavy jewelry (including pins, necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, earrings, body piercings, cuff links, lanyards or bolo ties)
Clothing with metal buttons, snaps or studs
Metal hair barrettes or other hair decoration
Belt buckles
Under-wire bras
Hidden items such as body piercings may result in your being directed to additional screening for a pat-down inspection. If selected for additional screening, you may ask to remove your body piercing in private as an alternative to the pat-down search.
Take metal items such as keys, loose change, mobile phones, pagers, and personal data assistants (PDAs) out of your pockets.
Place heavy jewelry and other metal items in your carry-on baggage or in plastic bags if they are offered, until you clear security.
Pack all your coats and jackets in your baggage when possible. All coats and jackets must go through the X-ray machine for inspection. These include, but are not limited to, trench coats, heavy winter coats, suit jackets, sport coats and blazers. If you choose to wear an outer coat or jacket to the checkpoint, you will need to either place it in your carry-on or put it in the bin that is provided for you.
My underwire bras have never set off the detectors. I suppose it could happen, but they would just "wand" you. :confused3

Are they making them from scratch????

Oh yes! I make a mean chocolate chip cookie, with the Toll House recipe of course. ;) I will only use real butter and I kind of "whip" it so it is very smooth! First round is in the oven. This will seem like a breeze with just one batch! :thumbsup2

Wow! Thats good to hear. Good Luck Genie!!

<Umm....who's Genie?> :confused3

LOL! She is Laura of Luke & Laura of General Hospital fame. They were married 25 years ago last Thursday and were remarried last Thursday. The kicker is that they were suppose to get married 4 years ago but she witnessed someone killing her stepfather in the attic when he was about to give her a drug to make her not remember witnessing him murdering a young nurse in the same attic when she was younger. She freaked out when he was killed & slipped into a state of unresponsiveness. Miracle drug was given and she came out of this state but....alas....the effects were only temporary and after spending two weeks with her three children & Luke catching up & getting remarried, she has slipped back into said state. :(

Dh is at his parents' house with the kids baking pies and helping get ready for tomorrow. I can't go over because of the smoke and dust. I am still not over my sinus infection/cold. tomorrow will be very difficult but the weather is supposed to cooperate. I tend to sit outside a lot because of the smoke. my DH has never smoked but every member of his immediate and I bet 80% of his extended family smoke. they just don't understand how hard it is to go over and have to use the breathing machine when we get home. it has gotten so bad that we take changes of clothes when going from DH's parents or relatives houses to my relatives houses. we even make sure that the kids have coats that we can wash when we get home. I have tried talking to MIL but she says she really cannot quit. she tried once and had kidney problems??? I don't get that but she is not the worst one. BILs are really inconsiderate with their smoking. they just puff away even if Ds & I are already wheezing. I do love my in laws but this is one thing I wish I could change.

Sorry but there is nothing that would make me go anywhere where my children or myself would be forced to put our health at risk. You being ill already is going to be torture for you to sit in that smoke tank. :grouphug: IMO it's not that they don't understand how hard it is for you....they simply don't care. :sad2:

The only thing that could have caused MIL to have kidney problems after she stopped smoking is whatever she started consumming in mass quantities to replace the cigs...either food or drink. :rolleyes1

I was in the LR with DH this morning and he turned off the satellite, but didn't have the remote for the tv handy. There was a soap on and I was laughing hysterically remembering when I used to watch them. I do turn Days on from time to time and not much has changed. :lmao:

...still catching up....

so what does a ziploc bag do for security? I mean, my lotion is no safer in a ziploc bag than outside the bag. I thought they put the ban on large liquids b/c of the fear that flamable or combustible liquids would be transported.
It makes it easier and quicker (I like quicker!) to inspect. All the liquids and meds are in one place, as opposed to being scattered in the bottom of a carry-on and in the plastic they can be seen without opening it.

Angie - you are my hero...always finding time to cook such yummy food!!!
Yesterday was my uncle's 81st birthday. He and my aunt arrived in town last night from Idaho. They came to visit today and I baked him a chocolate cake to celebrate his BD. He was very touched. He has been my hero since I was a very little girl and I loved making him smile today. :)

just kidding...I knew what it was because my MALE roommate used to watch GH everyday after class (or during class)...he would lay on the couch, drink beer and yell at the TV when someone would do something stupid, like kiss the wrong guy or whatever...it was hilarious.

Of course the kids have lost interest. Stones are too hot for them to drop any more dough on. Plus they are watching Mrs. Doubtfire.
