Poor John...we've had a lot of laughs at your expense lately. Considering your week, we reallly should have taken it easy on you.

...but that was pretty funny!

There is a 100mm Canon lens that focuses as close as 1 inch! A little pricey but it looks like a good lens. I was tempted.
Wish I had a good shop that carried all of the macros to test... he'd have to actually stay away (maybe 12 inches or so) from the stuff he wants to photograph during a surgery, but the "stuff" would be small and he'd need the sharp detail... might be 100mm, might have to get a 150mm (yikes $$$) but I guess it could be a write-off since he'd use it for work!

Awww Kristina... you could have to be in the car for 10 hours each way for Thanksgiving weekend...

but it should be the real cranberries... not the jellied stuff that "slooorps" out of the can, complete with can lines on the side.

But the lines are perfect for knowing where to cut! :thumbsup2

So, you still have your original room, right??? She didn't cx you?? Maybe your email will get some response and get the price quoted. Bait and switch is NOT good! :sad2:

Angie,

No, she totally switched it out and it's gone. Why do I do this to myself???????? I am soooo bad. I always recheck things and prices. AHHHHH. O'well. One more thing added to my stress, I do it to myself :lmao:

well, I just called my mom and she answered the phone panting heavily.....I asked if I interrupted something, she said "NO I am chasing cows!", apparantly the neighbors fence broke and the cows strolled on over.....I can just picture her trying to round up some cattle!

So, are we ready for another DIS geek food debate...cranberry sauce: the jelled stuff in a can, or the relishy stuff with cranberries in it?

I have been getting money back for family members that have booked the category 12. It keeps going down every time I check. Just call your travel agent and see what can happen. My sister was able to get money back and my other sister switched to a category 12 because it saved her over a $1,000.

I vote jelled stuff in a can but I can concede that there are other varieties of cranberry sauce. I just don't like anything but the canned stuff. :thumbsup2

My DH loves the canned kind...gourmet palate...
I make this:
Cranberry Chutney

1 lb. fresh cranberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 cups fresh orange juice
1 cup apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
6 fresh mint leaves

Sort the cranberries, discarding any soft ones. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, granulated sugar, brown sugar, orange juice, cider, cinnamon and mint and stir to mix. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer until the juices have reduced and are thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 1 hour.

Let the chutney cool to room temperature, then refrigerate. Let stand at room temperature for about 1 hour before serving. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick. Transfer the chutney to a sauceboat or serving bowl and serve. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

While shooting down this if the Outlawz are there:
Cranberry Champagne Cocktail

2 well-chilled 750-ml. bottles champagne or sparkling cider
1 cup well-chilled cranberry juice cocktail, or to taste
3 tablespoons Grand Marnier or other orange-flavored liqueur, or to taste, if desired

In a large pitcher stir together well the champagne, the cranberry juice cocktail and the Grand Marnier.

Makes about 7 cups, serving 8.

Bleeeach! neither!

Well I just double checked my ressie....now $2000 more than what I paid. I never get price decrease. Guess that's b/c I book so far in advance.

Sorry - cranberries in a White Chocolate Cranbery bar for me....none of that fresh or caned stuff.
