12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

WE are now going to stay at WDW again.>>
I'm glad you are still getting to do WDW. I know how it is juggling finances. I had to do quite a bit of that to take this cruise. It's costing me a not-too-small fortune to go solo with a verandah this time. What is odd is that the Cruisin' Nuts II for the same week in 2011 cost me considerably less for the same category, and each was booked two years ahead. Go figure! :confused3

4-leaf clovers and pixie dust to all who need it - which is probably most of us! pixiedust:

I was just stoked that they extended free dining, which happened to cover our stay after the cruise. That'll save us some money for use on the cruise.

Just realized that although iowaswete last logged into the DIS a couple of months ago, apparently her last post was in Oct. 2008, on our thread. She still shows our cruise logo in her signature, but I can't imagine that she is still on our cruise without posting for nearly two years.

So here's the deal: Val - You have first dibs on Brunch with me (and High Tea if you are interested) if you don't grab your own res for it. Frank & DM - You two have first dibs on Palo dinner with me and 2nd dibs on Brunch if Val grabs a brunch res.

Each of you go ahead and try to make your own res anyway so we'll be guaranteed that many spots, just in case. That would also leave the option of cyndixo and her grown daughter joining if they want to do Palo and can't nab a res. Haven't heard anything from them lately. :)

I don't think this is as complicated as I'm making it sound! :rolleyes1

Shari: when is high tea? I have never done this..sounds like fun... ladies day! :)

I know we will pass on Palo dinner with you....dont want to give up Pirate nighte in the dining room with the kids! and we like Palo on formal nite if possible!

brunch--sounds like a plan. that is the first reservation we are going to try and get.

Now I have to figure out how to print some shirts with the Cruisin Nuts logo

Val - I knew you didn't want to do Palo dinner with me. That was Frank & his mom I addressed that to. I had already mentioned that I didn't want to do Palo dinner with a married/romantic "couple," as I would be too uncomfortable (3rd wheel syndrome - lol).

My High Tea is Monday at 3 pm. Here are all my Palo days/times - -

MON. 3 pm - Palo HIGH TEA
TUES. 6 pm - Palo DINNER
THURS. 11:30 am - Palo BRUNCH

The reason I don't like doing Palo on Formal Night is because that is one of the first 3 regular rotation nights, and I never like missing the "show night" at Animator's Palate. Not knowing my rotation ahead of time, I would not want to risk that. Our formal night will probably be Sunday.

A note about Palo on Pirate Night: As I previously mentioned, having an early dinner at Palo on Pirate Night enables me to not worry about getting out of dinner and up on deck in plenty of time for the pirate party. In my case, since I have late dining on my rotation, it gives me the option of showing up in the dining room to enjoy a beverage or light dessert (and the pirate goings-on in the dining room) AFTER my Palo dinner and before the deck party, IF I choose to skip whatever movie is showing in the Walt Disney Theatre (since it's movie night & not show night there). But pirate night in the dining room is not my favorite. I would not have wanted to miss it originally, but have experienced it enough times now and am happy to get my fix at the deck party. pirate:

But if I had children, yes, I would definitely want to experience it every time! :)

I forgot about the show and stuff in the dining room for pirate night! Well, at least there's plenty of time to hem and haw about it before we get on board!

Tiime to go watch the countdown timer ;)

Does that mean you are having second thoughts, Frank? If you have never done pirate night in the dining room, it's something you probably won't want to miss. Not sure if it would matter to your mom but I'm sure you would know. pirate:

I've done pirate night in the restaurant, but my Mom hasn't. I'll PM you if anything changes, right now, it's still go.

Just wanted to drop a note about the excitement level!!! Mine is getting high! I bought a really cute little black dress for semi formal night the other day at Target in my new "pre cruise" size for $5.95!!! Keep an eye out. The stores around here are clearance pricing all swim wear and summer stuff perfect for our cruise. Also saw some cute stuff I might consider for FE's but the feedback I got last time on one of our drops was really positive so we may just do that one again. I think we only have repeat cruiser with us and if I remember right they were one of the families that liked it. :goodvibes Have a good week everyone!'s to you all!

As I was looking at the cruiser list I noticed a couple of "1st Disney cruise" folks who aren't doing FE. Can I just tell you our kids loved it so much on our 1st cruise and tell you why you should consider it?? I was really worried about getting the FE gifts to the boat in our luggage and about the time it would take to participate but then I read a tip on the DIS to send a box with FE gifts to the hotel you are staying in pre cruise. We did that and it worked out great. I picked up the box at the front desk and carried it onto the ship. We did 3 drops last time but our list was pretty short. I think it was 12 rooms and this time we are already at 23ish. We will be pairing down to one drop this time but even at that it ='s 23 times my kids will come back to the room at the end of the day and find a little surprise. SO FUN!! If you have kids please consider joining the list. I know by asking you it actually makes more work for me but I think you're all worth it :thumbsup2

Shari, I don't think my Mom would have any objections to joining you.

If you don't get anyone else, count us in!

Hi Shari
I cant make reservations til Sept. 5 but I wanted brunch at PALO on the 6th for DD's birthday did you want to do that sounds good. I really wanted to do dinner also but my DD doesnt seem interested in PALO. Help me out here to convince her she will LOVE it.

For some reason I didn't get a DIS notification about the last three posts here. I'm glad I decided to check the thread! :confused3

My Palo days/times are as follows:
MON. 3 pm - Palo HIGH TEA
TUES. 6 pm - Palo DINNER
THURS. 11:30 am - Palo BRUNCH

I decided to do Brunch on Thursday instead of Monday (your daughter's AND my birthday!) because of the strong possibility that the Castaway Club reception might be Monday at 11 and conflict. There's also the possibility of Monday ending up as my character breakfast morning, as usually happens. There is so much to "juggle" when planning.

Have your daughter take a look at the Palo page HERE on DCL's site, and be sure to click the "Menu" tab after reading the "Overview." Palo (dinner) is not to everyone's liking. If you like to dress up and partake of rich food that is nicely presented in a very nice environment, then Palo is the place. It helps to familiarize yourself with their menu somewhat before arriving though. My DM took about 30 minutes just deciding what to order, and I was hungry!

:thumbsup2 Sounds like a steal! :goodvibes I'll be wearing the same formal and semi-formal attire I wore in January - lol - but I'm always checking Target for Chip 'n' Dale stuff. That's where I got my 'munk socks and a tank and tee, as well as some pink summer Mickey pajamas that I've worn to death but will probably take on the cruise. If it's cold enough I can wear my C&D nightshirt (gift from DL Paris) and flannel C&D pj bottoms (from the local Kohl's). :cool1:

Abby came up with a great Idea for the fish extenders :) So We ordered ours today I cant wait to get them in :) We are all getting so excited for the cruise.

We also took advantage of the free dining plan they offered already for next year we booked a trip to Disney Aug 26th - Sept 5th!!! Abby doesnt start school until after Labor day and the parks are not very crowded then. Can hardly wait for that too, after not being in the parks at all this year we will be having withdrawls LOL.

So Ready for this Cruise now!!!

Yeah Jenn! :) gotta love a trip to WDW~ :)

I asked John if he cared about the f/e gifts.. :rotfl2: I might steal someone elses idea from our DDD cruise! :)

Thank you lol.

Scott was the same LOL but he enjoys seeing what others decide to do, we will be putting up a Christmas Stocking from our Fish lol Since it will be close enough to Christmas. We are hoping to put up some magnets on our door as well we love making them on the computer :)

I am taking stockings too since we will have 2 cabins! John made signs for me last time since I am not very good with the computer! It makes your room sooo much easier to find. :)

Someone on another Disboard made our names with character letters. mine is Val in Tigger... Nat is Tinkerbell they are my favorite! it was funny how many people walk by your door and comment! :)

I had a memo board on my door too.... it was fun to come back to the room and see notes too.

Our kids loved the f/e! we had 64 families last cruise, so every day there were treats for everyone!

I'd like to put a memo board on my door also, but I've always been afraid someone might leave an undesirable sort of message! Has anyone here ever had that happen? I saw another thread about that once, but you never know if the actions may have been provoked. :stir:

the only thing bad that happened on our cruise was someone stole one of the gifts out of our f/es! it was a mini girls purse with stickers etc in it.

also on this cruise someone tried taking my friends f/e...... A helpful hint...BRING ELASTIC TIES! and then scissors to cut it down. luckily hers was zip tied so they couldnt steal it...and who would want it.. their last name was on it and their kids names!
