12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Shari: I finally got a reservation at Garden Grill on 9/25! :) doing the happy dance! :cool1:

That's wonderful, Val! I hope all the characters will be awesome for you. Their "friends"...You know what I mean ;) ... don't have regular schedules there anymore so you never know who will be "helping" Mickey, Pluto & the 'Munks, but be interactive and have fun with them and it should be great! :goodvibes

P.S. Please give Chip 'n' Dale a special hug for me and don't forget to mention our Cruisin' Nuts cruise!

It has certainly been a while since I have been on this site. So much going on, my youngest daughter (25) got a promotion and had to move from FL to Texas in 9 days. Drove her out there last week and furniture to follow - will fly out in 2 weeks to help and take her dog. I have never tried to fly with a dog so this should be an experience. Sure do miss her - she will still be joining me on this cruise. :) I have never gone on a cruise by myself but certainly would consider it moving forward. :surfweb:Work is so busy :woohoo::tigger: just dosn't seem time for any breathing room - need this cruise so badly.:dance3: I have been traveling so much this year with work - more than usual that this will be a great break.
Wow Disney tickets went up again just recently - but I have to admit they always seem to do things right - don't seem as many Florida resident rates or discounts on the cruises lately. Need to get moving on getting my cloths together - I did sign up for a few of the Disney 5k runs that are coming up. Love to run in the parks - here is to the next few months going by quickly!:woohoo:

Thanks for the update, Floridasunshine! Sounds like you've been (and still are) VERY busy! I'm glad you checked in with us. I'm hoping those we haven't heard from in awhile will all wander over here prior to sailing. :goodvibes

I have very mixed feelings about WDW's price hike. Supposedly they have raised prices 78% since 2000. I wonder if that's really justified, but I'll stay off that heated topic except to say that I've considered not renewing my AP next year. BTW - Universal is raising their prices as well. ;)

Back to the topic of our cruise: I'm still wondering who our captain will be. I only know who it won't be. Maybe we'll have a new captain none of us have heard of. :cool1:

Hi all

Just checking in....I cant waitttttttttt for the cruise. It can't come quick enough. I still haven't booked my room the night prior to the cruise but I'm thinking just stay at the value resort (disney sport music doo wop) is there really a difference between the values lol? Last time we stayed @ the carribean resort...wasn't impressed at all so I figure why bother I'll only sleep there. My memory is shot and I know there are items that are important to bring when you cruise like...night light or glow in the dark stick, shoe holder for your little items so your bathrooms aren't a wreck, lanyards, glow in dark necklaces for pirate nights (for the kids) so on so forth. but i know there were so many lil things that made a difference....mostly all from the .99 cent store. BTW i'm only a silver castaway club member, so this means I have to wait the 90 day mark to book palo and such, correct? Did everyone buy insurance for the trip?? I never have for the past few, just wondering. Anyyyywayyyy.....I hope everyone is well and I'll be doing my h.w. on the boards :)

Taswira,

You said you knew what captain it wont be, Who is that? We have had Captain Tom for three of our cruises, and thought he did a great job, especially during hurricane Francis, I hope he is still with DCL.

Yes, Captain Tom is my FAVORITE! He is still with DCL but is with the Dream. I will REALLY miss him as he was my first and most frequent captain. :goodvibes

And yes - I LOVE the 'munks in their beach attire!

its sad, I couldnt name the captain on any of DCL cruises. I do know the cruise director staff was better in 07 than 08. :) so we are hoping for a great staff in December!

still debating about requesting a certain server in the dining rooms. We had Liam from Jamaica in 07, he saw us again in 08 and remembered us a year later....

When I used to sail on the Wonder, I always requested my favorite server. He was Croatian. I very much prefer servers from Croatia, Hungary, etc., but there are far fewer of them with DCL now than there used to be. I've taken "pot luck" since sticking with the Magic. The servers have been good (but not really memorable), except for the Romanian girl in Jan. '07, who thankfully was soon after let go. I also prefer a male server (doesn't matter for assistant server), but I certainly don't want to make that request and be so discriminating! I think we might see a lot of NEW faces among the servers this time. I've noticed that those from Thailand seem to interact particularly well with young children.

Funny how they remember people. I once had a server come running after me as I was exiting a restaurant after lunch. He finally caught up and told me he remembered me from serving me AT LUNCH (not my regular serving team) a few YEARS prior, and he even told me where I sat and recited what I ate! I think Disney must have some special pill they give their crew members to give them such powers of memory! :rotfl2:

Was wondering what would be the best night to book Palo's.
We will want to see all three shows and go to Formal night. We have been on two 4 night cruises before this one but never have had dinner at Palo's:cool1:

cant believe it is 4 months away and some of you are able to book stuff. Dont take all the good stuff. We had to cancel our ressies to stay in the world after the cruise. DH lost his job which had a bonus and that was gonna pay for that part of the trip and them some. So it will just be the cruise and Downtown Disney before heading to the airport. Unless some pixie dust flies this way.

classicdisney - I don't see you anywhere on our cruiser list. If you are sailing with us (unless with someone else who is already listed), please complete and submit this form on our Chip 'n' Dale's Cruisin' Nuts website and I'll add you . . although it may be in the morning because I'll be headed to bed shortly. ;)

Best night for Palo depends on a lot of things. I don't like it on the last night because sometimes the seas can get a bit rough headed back, and I prefer calm seas for Palo dining - lol. I don't book it the first three nights due to those being the first night in each regular rotation restaurant. My usual choice is pirate night because I always choose late dining for my rotation, and if I can get an early time at Palo that evening it frees up the rest of the evening (including pirate deck party time). But that's just me. Many people like to book Palo for formal night.

plutoNme - Sorry to hear about your DH's job situation, but we're glad you are still able to cruise with us. Pixie dust to both of you. pixiedust:

Getting even more excited for this cruise seeing this, and I figure I'd share this (though I think I did before).

Nice pic, Frank! I think you had only posted that on NING, not here, but the thread is getting too long to look back and see - lol. I'm always happy to see our Cruisin' Nuts post pics with the 'munks! :thumbsup2

Have others here completed the online check-in for our cruise? I went ahead and did that last week, though it always seems strange to me to "check-in" that far in advance. Last time, although I did online check-in, rather than print it out and carry the papers with me I completed the short forms in the nice little cruise docs booklet they send. But when I went to turn it in at actual in-person check-in at the terminal, they didn't take it! They only took a quick look at my passport, driver's license and the credit card for my onboard account. So they didn't have a physical hard copy of my signature on any agreement. I spoke with a few other guests who experienced the same thing. :confused3

Just completed my check in and good golly the website painfully slow when doing so this time around but at least it is done. Now if only this cruise could hurry up and get here!:cool1: But then again, I guess that would mean cold weather time around here.

Welcome new cruisers :) I am not lucky like everyone else I cant do anything yet, this is my first ever DISNEY cruise, I got my new passporter today so I am soooooooooo ready to cruise with mickey, maybe I will start packing to make it seem closer than it is.

Laura - Don't feel bad about not being able to make your ressies yet. Our cruise has a lot of first-timers so you are not alone. If you are unable to reserve what you want online, you are still very likely to be able to the day we board. They don't make everything available at once, so don't worry.

I've been packed for so long that I definitely feel ready to go! The only thing I am indecisive about is my Chip 'n' Dale stuff . . what to bring and what to leave behind. So I keep putting things in and taking them out, over and over. :lmao:

I don't know about anyone else but I am really getting in the mood. I am updating my information notebook. I am feeling Disney excitement. The crusie is getting closer and we are spending a few days next month a WDW. So I am getting into my Disney mood and I can't wait! It feels so good. :dance3:

We can't do anything yet either. But I'm really looking forward to next month, when we can! My DD keeps telling people, "I'm going on a boat with Nana, Grandad, Mickey, Minnie, baby Luke, Daddy, and Mommy!"
