12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

lol - No problem. I wasn't sure if it was the same guy. Honestly, when it's been anyone other than Captain Tom, I haven't paid much attention to specifics. :lmao:

Yes, I've had Brent at least once (as a CD - ha-ha) and he was wonderful.

FYI - Although we sail in early December, there is always a chance of unpredictable weather here in FL, so remember to LAYER just in case. The norm that time of year is a mix of warm and cool/cold. What I wore in THIS PIC with Mickey at WDW the week before my mom and I sailed this month is exactly what I wore boarding the ship. Leather blazer and wool hat? Yep!

Shari-- I know your trips sailaway party was inside... where did they hold it?

Also was the water warm enough at CC to swim?

They held it in the Atrium, but my mom didn't want to go with all that crowd inside, so we skipped it. Not quite the same inside anyway, to me.

There were people (especially kids) swimming at CC (I don't swim), but during the short time we were at Serenity Bay I did not notice anyone actually out IN the water. There may have been later in the afternoon though . . maybe just before the afternoon rain started. ;)

I'll second this. I thought I'd be ok in a t-shirt and shorts, cause I was ok outside, but once I got on deck 10, well, the wind wanted to freeze my legs off. At Nassau/CC, shorts were ok.

I'm wearing jeans next time!

Excellent idea, Frank! :thumbsup2

And for the ladies - one pair of shorts, swimsuit and cover-up would suffice for the warmer days. A good winter compromise is a pair or two of capris/crop pants. Then at least your legs won't freeze on Decks 9 and 10 (both quite windy). Luckily I was prepared this time. I packed no shorts at all, one pair of capris which I wore on the islands, and stuck with slacks or long dresses the rest of the time. But warm weather lovers should not get discouraged. This weather was NOT normal. Just be prepared for anything. Check the forecast a week before the cruise and then adjust your packing list. It's smart to always bring one WARM jacket no matter what the forecast. You can carry or wear it, so don't consider it another thing to pack. Better to have it if you need it than to be miserable without it!

Wanted to say a quick HELLO!!!!!!!! Glad we are now in the year mark!!! WHOOP WHOOP:banana:

I don't think I've sailed with Jon . . maybe a "Captain John" long ago.

Clayton was our CD on the Magic. I think he said he'd be there in December. Not sure though. Pic HERE from formal night. He was a lot of fun. I LOVE his "vacation dance." :cool1:

I hope he is. I'd love to show my Mom his "vacation dance". We're almost into the single digits for months left!

So, if we have Captain Tom, what time is this get together? ;)
lol - Unfortunately, there is absolutely ZERO chance of Captain Tom being our captain on this one. He is now the official ship's master of the Disney Dream and is in Germany to supervise her construction, after which he will be HER captain. :sad1:

Captain Thord is fine. I'm just not interested in watching him exercise. :rotfl2:

And who knows? Perhaps we will have someone else. ;)

I hope everyone here is having a good week.

Hey all - Check out this article in the LA Times, Cruise Ships Focus on Fun.

It does mention the Disney Dream's AquaDuck, but what caught my attention was the new NCL Epic's "Ice Bar." Wow! Finally a place cool enough for me and where I can wear my winter clothes . . although for the first time I didn't perspire on my recent Magic cruise so that was a plus. :lmao:

Had an email from Carnival this morning. They were promoting the sailing from Europe of their new ship in 2011. The Carnival Magic will launch the same year as the Disney Dream. Of course Carnival was first with their Dream. Sort of seems like "If you do it, we'll do it!" Although she will debut next summer on European itineraries, I would not be surprised if she someday ends up in Port Canaveral.

I finally got around to unpacking and doing laundry. Now I am gradually starting to pack for our Cruisin' Nuts cruise. Yay! Clothing will be last unless it is cruise-specific, but other items are going in one by one and getting checked off my list. I told you I am obsessive-compulsive ... but the cruise seems that much closer when I am packing! As Frank pointed out, it won't be too long before we will be in single digits for months to our cruise. :cool1:

So, to get to know each other a little bit better, what does everyone have for ring tones on their cellphone? I have Toes by the Zac Brown Band. My husband has the 1959 White Sox song.

Wow, packing already. I just make lists. I actually have a word document Take With List and it is broken down into trips. Different trips need different things. Like road trips need GPS, etc. WDW trip needs Pal Mickey and so on. So I have everything covered wherever and whenever we are going. And my carry-on is always packed and ready to go. When I get home from one trip I refill everything for the next trip. So I guess that makes me obsessive-complusive too.

Just regular rings on my cell phone... not smart enough to know how to download real ringtones.:rotfl2:

Packing? that wont happen until November!! All my kids are going through growth spurts right now. nothing will probably fit then by then! Since we are driving I dont have to worry as much as cramming stuff into less suitcases!

Shari: did you notice people bringing on their own alcohol or soft drinks?

Plain ole ring tone here too.

I'm with you on the growth spurts. I'm not home when my DDs leave for school - it's daddy's job to get them ready. So I was surprised recently to see them put on a couple of dresses I bought them at the beginning of the school year. Their legs have stretched, and the dresses were now inappropriate. LOL. I went shopping. Can't believe daddy was still letting them wear them. So no packing yet.

I do have a cabinet that I store things as I get them for the cruise. :) I like seeing the shelves fill up.
