12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Curious: How many here who have cruised with Disney before will be wearing many of the same clothes as on previous cruises? I've done that so much that I think that's why some servers and others who maybe haven't seen me for years often remember me - lol. The sad part is, I'll be doing it again! I have certain clothes I don't think I've worn since my last DCL cruise. Oh, my . . . :rolleyes1

I have worn the same things for multiple cruises. It doesn't bother me.

Will they be dressing alike on the cruise?

I had not thought that far ahead. But I imagine they will. I made shirts for our WDW trip and they love that. So I would think I'd be doing the same for DCL. However, their shirts do have their names on them. They thought it was pretty cool that the princesses at WDW were able to tell them apart so easily. LOL.

Do ya'll pack your own snorkle stuff? I've wondered if that is the safer thing to do. I can't even remember the last time I was on a plane, and have already started to wonder how we will fit everything.

We pack our own masks and snorkels. They don't take up much room. We usually stick clothes in and around the masks, it helps protect them in the checked bags.

I wore the same pants and a few dress clothes for the cruises. (one years time doesnt make too much difference), I have lost 15 lbs since the last cruise, so alot of my pants are too big.. so guess I will be buying some new ones! :)

we are planning to bring our own masks/snorkels. The kids have never snorkeled, but I think it is something they will enjoy. :) I just hope the water is warm enough to enjoy. ( we were in CC in Feb 05 and the water was FREEZING).

a fellow cruiser gave us the idea on our last cruise, to take some clothes that are "tossable". it really lightened up our suitcase for all of our new goodies to take home. :)

also I put all my sons clothes in gallon size bags.. so each day he just grabbed one to put on for the day. it made packing a lot easier too.

I once sailed with someone who brought their oldest, most worn out underwear and tossed it all after use. I guess it did clear more space for souvenirs!

With the exception of dressy attire, I pack most of my clothes organized into large Ziploc freezer bags (for durability). It does make it easy to find what I want when getting dressed, and squeezing the air out when packing makes them take less space. I guess it's like a cheaper, mini version of the "space bag."

Come to think of it, again except for dresses, I probably pack everything in Ziploc baggies, even when putting them inside another bag. I guess I'm severely OCD about my packing! ::yes::

My DDs have never snorkeld either. I'm not sure if DH has. I grew up in Hawaii so did, but it was a very, very long time ago. I'll have to buy the stuff and let the girls practice in the pool next summer. I did book an excursion at St. Thomas that is a sail/snorkel - so might help if they had an idea of what it is..

I'll have to keep the ziplock bag idea in mind!

I've been working on my weight - my "prize" is a new dress for formal night. So I only have 400and some odd days left. :) I'm hoping for a date night.

Hey Everyone Sorry I went silent, been a busy summer for me, and its going to be a rough Winter for us. We have to back out of the Back to Back Cruises we had been hoping to do in 2010. I'm not working, due to lack of options here in FL with such high unemployment. My mom just got laid off as well so with none of us working we just can't do the irresponsible thing and keep the plans as they were.

So we will be pushing our cruise to 2011 and our 2nd one we had booked for the B2B portion will be pushed to late 2011 and to 2012 eventually. We will get back on DCL eventually but just not right now.

Sorry to hear that, Amy, but I'm sure we all understand. I removed you from our cruiser list. I think times are tough for everyone nowadays. I hope you find suitable work for you and will be able to make those future cruises. Best wishes to you and your family.

We've already experienced a lot of changes to our list, and with 15 months or so until sailing, I expect there will be many more. That's why I try to stay on top of this and make updates as soon as possible. But in general, thankfully our numbers are growing, aren't they? :goodvibes

that sounds like FatCat... aka Chris.. he was on our last cruise! he was a hoot!! we had about 10 pages with the underwear posts!! that is where the toss idea came from. :rolleyes1 what I tossed the most of were pjs for the kids.

Yay! My renewed passport arrived today! Now I can stop stressing. :woohoo:

:banana:Yipeee!

I think we have to renew our passports before this cruise because our passports expire January, 2011. Do you know if we can renew them a year in advance (like Jan 2010)? Right now I am trying to get our names correct on our Passports, Driver's Licenses, state IDs and airline "tickets". The problem is over the years, I have used Judy when I should have used Judith (and some things have my middle initial or name) and my husband is the III and sometimes that gets left off his papers. So working on that now.

I don't think they would stop you from early renewal, as many people want the new passport with the "chip" in it and I'm sure the government is glad to get the money! The official page with info on passport renewal is HERE. I'm not sure how they handle the name correction if it's the first name. You may need to do that in person but probably not if you use certified copy of birth certificate with marriage certificate, etc. I don't know.

I expedited my renewal and got it in 7 days. Even though there should have been plenty of time, I wanted to have the new number prior to the 90 day mark for my Jan. 9 cruise with my mom. So now I'm all set for our Cruisin' Nuts sailing as well. :yay:

Thanks. My passport is correct because it was taken from my birth certificate but it's everything else that's a mess.

You guys are ahead of us. I need to get DH's and my birth certificate, so we can get started on passports. I have the M&Ms birth certificates.

My kids are M&Ms too. Mark and Melissa. But they will not be cruising with us, they are adults and do their own thing.

I have to get all 3 kids their passports. I got mine last year. dh has one, he uses it for work all the time ( he is off to Finland and Germany in 2 weeks.)

Passports seem so expensive now - even renewals (and of course that $60 more to expedite - Eeeek!). BUT I am thrilled that my new one doesn't expire until the end of August 2019! AND for the next 10 years I get to "not age" in my photo!

the new Georgia drivers licenses last 10 years too. :) I am bad and have not gotten my new license! it is 5.00 more... I am all for that!!
