12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Although this is not cruise related - I know you go to Disney often, so hope it's okay to ask. What are your favorite places (sit down) to eat at Epcot? We tried Marrakesh this time - for the belly dancing. It was fun, they took my DDs up and they got to dance with her. But for next time I'd like to try something else. I was wondering if the Germany show as fun.

Deb - Holly and I had lunch at Marrakesh that same day. I've been there many times and love it, but it was Holly's first time dining there and unfortunately the belly dancer was about to start as we left the restaurant, so she missed it. She has seen the one with the MoRockin' musicians outside though.

I love character dining. My fave is Garden Grill because of Chip 'n' Dale, but now they only do dinner so it's too expensive to do often. For non-character, I've enjoyed lunch at Chefs de France and dinner at Le Cellier, but had a problem with the service (not the food) at the latter. Lunch or dinner in Germany is good, but what I don't like is that when it's only me and a friend or my mother, the two of us are at a big table with strangers. My mom in particular does not like that, but that's how the seating is. She also thinks it's too noisy, but that's because she wears a hearing aid - LOL.

I occasionally like Asian food and have dined at 9 Dragons many times. Sometimes it's been great, sometimes not. They recently refurbished so I'll have to see what changes they've made. I don't make a habit of going to Teppan Edo or Tokyo Dining because I don't get a 20% discount there as I do at other sit-down restaurants.

how funny on Marrakesh. We were done eating, but our server told us the dancing was going to start shortly and invited us to stay - so we did. It was one of the main reasons I had picked Marrakesh. I thought it would be different, since none of us have ever been in a place like that. :) If you had stayed a bit longer you'd have found the twins faster . .LOL. .as they were up there dancing. Well, one was - the other chickened out pretty quickly and ran back to the table.

DH wanted to go back to Marrakesh, but I don't think it was for the food. :confused3

I'll have to look at Garden Grill. My DDs do like characters too - and after this trip, really love Chip & Dale. Afterall - they are twins too. :) I had thought about Teppan Edo, but had heard some children tend to be afraid of the fire - and my kids aren't the bravest in the land.

Thank you for your input.

Ah, but as you've mentioned, they'll be another year older when you return, right? They'll probably be a lot more comfortable with things then. :)

I hope so. We had to leave DHS and AK quickly as they were scared of everything in those parks. I loved the Festival of teh Lion King, but was distracted by their begging to leave. It would be nice if they were a year braver. I did record FOTLK, and am planning to have them watch it a few times between now and then - so they can hopefully remember it may be dark - but there is nothing to be afraid of.

Teppan Edo does have nice reviews - and I love tempura. :)

Deb - Maybe when you come back to WDW, if many of my friends are still working in Entertainment there as they do now (as in "friends" with characters and in shows, including Lion King) perhaps I could introduce them to a few who might put them at ease. That approach has worked with a lot of kids who sometimes find the parks and shows a bit too scary.

But I really don't think they'll have any problem next year. Kids grow up a lot in that amount of time. ;)

Thank you, that is very kind of you. And you do have a point about children. We did AK early in our trip - after O'Hanas Stitch did wonders to ease Makayla's fears. We didn't have much trouble with characters after him. We only had trouble with loud noises. And they will be a year older, and it won't be an entirely new experience. Thank you for the wise points.

I think I can post the pics now! I was disappointed as Chip & Dale really played with the girls while the photopass photographer took their pics. They were all pretending like they were seeing double by rubbing their eyes and all looking from one to the other. It was pretty funny to us. And Maddie asked if they were twins too. But when we got home our photopass card has the pictures before & after Chip & Dale, but not of them. So all we have are the ones in our camera. :( And we were trying to stay out of her way (the photographers).

Oooooh - They're ADORABLE - the girls AND the 'munks!

I'm not too thrilled with most PhotoPass photographers. If I'm solo in the parks and ask them to shoot a pic with my camera and I have my tiny compact digital (as I usually do) instead of my bigger digital SLR, they still stand way back and on indoor shots they should know (being "professional" photographers) that they are too far for the flash so the photo will be blurry, but they do it anyway. There are maybe three of those photographers I have any faith in. As for the PhotoPass pictures not showing up, sometimes that is the fault of whomever was putting it all into the computer, and not necessarily the photographer.

PhotoPass is useful for those without a camera, but otherwise it's safer to shoot your own or have the character attendant do it.

LIve and learn. We didn't see many photographers. The only places we saw them was at DHS, Ariel's Grotto & BBB. We did have my camera out at all times - but we were worried about getting in her way as she was moving a lot. I'm not mad, it's just one of those things - but I am disappointed. We still got several shots ourself - but none of the eye rubbing stunts. Chip & Dale were pretty funny.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and may the only one really stuffed be the turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm sort of half-relaxing today....I'm the one cooking. But I thought I'd take some time out to DIS and wish everyone a happy and safe holiday!

Smiles,

Holly

Just want to let everyone know that I will probably be off-line until Wednesday morning because I am headed down to Contemporary Resort through Tuesday. If we get any new cruisers for our list, please let them know I will add them when I return. Thanks! :)

We'll be on the cruise! It'll be me, Brenda, my husband Brian, and my 3 daughters, Faith, Kaitlyn and Havilah. We have first seating. Faith will be 11, Kaitlyn will be 8, and Havilah will be 6.

:welcome: Welcome, Brenda and family! You are now on our cruiser list. If you would like to add any info - ages, dinner seating time, celebrations, whether you'll participate in the Fish Extender gift exchange, etc. - feel free to PM me (taswira) the info or post here and I will add it. We are happy to have you with us! :goodvibes

To all - I am back from that little "mini vacation" at Contemporary Resort and trying to catch up with e-mail, forums, chores and errands - LOL. Even though my mom was disappointed that Sunday it RAINED so she missed John O'Hurley this year and had to settle for Neil Patrick Harris, we had a GREAT time! We got upgraded to a Bay View Tower room (Yaaaay!), had a wonderful dinner at the Wave restaurant there, breakfast at Crystal Palace, lunch at the Grand Floridian and yesterday even managed to get into Garden Grill so I could see one of my friends. Best of all was that my mom managed to WALK the entire time (with rests, of course) so we did not resort to a wheelchair for her. It meant walking slowly, but we weren't rushed so it didn't matter. Now that I'm home again I have A LOT to do! :santa:

Hello and welcome to Brenda and family! :cheer2:

Shari: Welcome home! I've not been on here much - working in retail near the holidays is exhausting.

Sorry your mom didn't get to see John O'Hurley - but I bet Neil Patrick Harris was great. Hooray for getting into Garden Grill! :thumbsup2

Believe it or not...MY mom wants me to take her to see the Osborne Lights tonight. (hope she will stay longer than 15 minutes this year - after all it's an hour drive each way...)

Smiles,

Holly

Ha-ha - - Let me know how it goes! Good luck! ;)

Do you work Sunday the 7th? I can't find the e-mail where you said. I am thinking of MAYBE going to MVMCP that night. Not definite yet and of course depends big-time on the weather. Maybe I can recruit more Cruisin' Nuts if I go.
