The free dining is only for certain dates. I'm lucky that it's for December 10th through the 21st, and I'll be there from when we get off on the 11th through the 15th.

That is wonderful!! We love the free dining. We usually travel when they have free dining seems to be end of August early Sept. We catch the MNSSHP and they have lower crowds. Still warm enough for the pools too. So Happy it works for the end of the cruise . 150 days left but whos counting?..... EVERYONE!!!!

No, I don't know her. Belgium is a very little country, so it was worth the trying

Anyone planning any excursions?

I am thinking about parasailing in CC.. that is about it. and the gondola ride in St Thomas. ( the kids stayed on the ship last time we docked in St Thomas.)

Thanks! I added the info. I listed your stateroom as "GTY." That means you are guaranteed a cabin, but the category/deck/room number is not yet assigned. It is not unusual at all, and is even more common when people win a cruise. No problem.

Don't worry about feeling ignorant about cruising. Just don't let all the info here on the DIS overwhelm you. And if you stumble upon those packing threads on the boards, keep in mind that you really do NOT need all those items some cruisers think they can't sail without. Cruising is not that different from other travel. But if you have any questions there are lots of experienced cruisers here to help you.

We are considering the exact same things. Other than that we have no plans at all, except to just relax.

For those of you planning the gondola in St Thomas, as Donald Quackers pointed out, we are tendering and not docking near the gondolas. So it will be a long walk or a taxi ride. Tendering takes us to the downtown area. The gondola is near the Havensight dock.

I'm definitely using a taxi or going for the excursion. My Mom can't walk that far.

I thought the REAS package was no longer offered. Is it still on DCL's website?

Dining rotation is always subject to change, but at the moment it looks like it should be LAPLAPL 5:45 and 8:15, APLAPLA 5:45 and 8:15, or PLAPLAP 5:45 and 8:15 - with no way to tell which rotation you have until you check in.

They may still be staggering the dinner times. I can't recall if they did on my cruise in January, but the Navigators said 5:45 and 8:15. My dining tickets may have had a staggered time. Guess I'm getting too old to remember such things - lol.

Still over 4 months out though, and DCL does have a way of changing things! Also, I don't know what if any schedules they may alter around the holidays. We shall see.

Just looked at DCL's site and yes, the times on the Magic ARE staggered (I thought my dining ticket may have had a different time!) -

"On the Disney Magic, the dining times are staggered. Main Seatings start at 5:30 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Second seatings start at 8:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m."

UPDATE: Called DCL and they confirmed their website is incorrect and they are no longer staggered.

Funny, because I remember reading when they switched on the Wonder to one dining time for each rotation, and that it was then implemented on the Magic. I'd have to check my passporter to see if it agrees with the info I found in the cruise FAQ here on the disboards:

As of 4/4/09 Magic cruise there are only two times for dinner, 5:45 and 8:15. Navigators have not been seen to confirm any change in the available rotations.

Frank - I would hope DCL's website is more current than the FAQ thread here on the DIS, but maybe DCL is putting out erroneous info! DCL's FAQ (that I looked at today) on their own site says dining on the Wonder is set times and dining on the Magic is staggered, as in the quote I posted.
