Expedia has AKL for 119.00 night plus tax and their service fee (which I think is 5.00/night) -- total 137.59/night including taxes and fees for standard view. Is this a good deal? Should I take it?

You can cancel without penalty, but the total cost has to be paid when booked.

They have the rate listed as Winter Dream Maker, but it is allowing a room only reservation. Is this common? I have checked other sites and could not get this rate anywhere else. Just rack rate of 199.00 plus taxes, etc.

I have HIFS booked for 76.00/night. I have been hoping for a good deal on a moderate. This is really a bit more than I had budgeted, but AKL was also my first choice of hotels if I did not have to consider cost.

HELP! I don't know what to do! UGH!

Edited to add: This is for February 3-12 (value season)

Someone? Anyone?

I have everything filled in and need only hit "complete reservation." Then my credit card gets billed a whole bunch of $$$ -- lol :p

I think it's a good deal considering the rack rate on this room. I have stayed at AKL twice and would stay in a standard room for this price. AKL is a terrific place!

I just took a peek and saw the rate you were talking about. However, as I went through the booking process I noticed that it does, in fact, add on the UPH's when you get to the "Add Attractions and Services page, and that they can't be taken off.

I did use my own dates for reference though. If it's allowing you to book that rate with no passes added on it is a good deal.

YEP! They allowed me to book room only. Wonder why? Think it might be a glitch in the system?

DH is probably going to make me get a job to pay for it! (I suppose I don't have to tell him until we get there...;) ) He thinks "a hotel is just a hotel." I wouldn't have been able to justify paying 199+ with our budget, but I think for $40 more per night I much prefer AKL to HIFS--even if it does put me over budget already!

Of course, now I'm wishing I could afford savannah view...lol! Maybe I'll surprise myself and come up with enough money to upgrade when we get there. I have 5 1/2 months.

We could skip Christmas this year and eat nothing but pb&j and ramen noodles until then. That should do it! (Just kidding ;) ha ha )

I figure, if needed, I can cancel, right? (Like that's gonna happen!) I really wanted this resort. :Pinkbounc

What was your total cost? I did it for my dates, but it automatically added the passes on on the second page. Was hard to notice that it did that though!

Bait and switch in my opinion

When I was pricing for room-only, I saw that Expedia automatically tacks on park tickets. I called an Expedia agent to see if they offered room only rates. I was told that 'outsiders' are not allowed to offer Disney hotels/room only rates, only packages including tickets (which makes sense from a business standpoint).
I don't know how you got around it, but I'd keep my eye on the credit card bill and hopefully Disney won't give you problems at check-in.

1238.31 for 9 nights = 137.59/night after taxes and fees were added. Maybe I'll get a call or an email later on telling me it was a mistake...

arghhh! it wouldn't let me do it either!

and i agree, it's a bait and switch. my rate shows at $687 something and them boom! it's over $1200 and that dollar amt is in a small font at the top!

for 5 days i don't THINK so!

It's some kind of glitch, but stick with it jcemom!!

I plugged in dates for 7 nights and then for 8 nights, and when I got to the next page, it had automatically added in the UPH's, and they couldn't be deleted.

BUT...

When I plugged in your dates, giving me 9 nights...the UPH's were not on the next page, and the amount of the quote was the same as yours.

I think it must be a glitch for such a long stay. Just hold on to your reservation confirmation!

Yup. I bet that anything longer than 7 days and the UPH isn't keyed into the system. Probably a mistake by a programmer since Park Hoppers aren't available in anything longer than 7 days. This might be a nice loophole for those who are staying more than a week (at least until Disney catches it and corrects it).

Looks like a glitch in your favor. Print out every page of your transaction and I'll hope that you won't need it!!

I hope they let me keep it -- though I would understand if they can't. I would be so disappointed if I had to give it up now.

I've spent the past 30 minutes (while DD sat here eating her lunch -- pb&j (lol) really, it's her favorite) looking at pics and reviews of AKL and I want so badly to stay there.

If I get to keep this reservation, we'll be the family watching the animals from the public viewing areas (because we can't afford savannah view) eating our pb&j sandwiches (because we can't afford meals, either)...LOL ;)

Stick with it your lucky, I think AP rates ( if they were out) for this are $109 to $144.00

Happy Vacationing

We stayed there last year for a rate of $119 a night standard view from a code in our newspaper, and this was so worth it! Beautiful! They upgraded us to a pool view.
We received one of the emails two weeks ago... $109/night for AKL standard view and WE ARE GOING AGAIN!! YAY!!

I am so Excited about this trip! $119 a night is a steal!

By the way, my $109/night doesn't include tax... it comes to about $130 with tax I think.

I just went to expedia, and saw GF Lagoon for $240-something, and got excited! But, then they tacked on those tickets! Argh, I knew it was too good to be true!
