We just got back a few weeks ago and just boght into DVC and I jsut did the math (on my fingers :rotfl: ) tonight that our 11 month window is less than a few weeks away. MAN, that was fast. We're used to not going but every 2-3 years. What a dilemma to have. HAVING to pick a date to go. :woohoo: I like those kinds of dilemmas.

So if I book dates for AKV in a few weeks and suppose I want a few nights at BLT if they are available at my 7 month window, how do I go about taking some of the dates from the AKV reservation and put it on the BLT ressie. Should there be availability of course. ;) I'm not getting my hopes up. But it never hurts to hope right? :flower3:

You can reserve the dates you want at 11 months at your home resort and then at 7 months reserve nights at BLT (or any other DVC resort) cancelling the dates at AKV. I would suggest trying to make the BLT reservation either at the beginning or end of the stay - it will involve fewer moves and will be easier to manage without possibly losing part of the original reservation - if you have a reservation for December 11-18 at AKV and later try to reserve December 13-15 at BLT - you would need to cancel dates from the original reservation starting with 12/13 and then remake the 12/15 - 12/18 dates - possibly without success. The AKV reservation from 12/11 - 12/13 would remain intact but the later dates might be in jeopardy if there is already a waitlist. As long as your BLT reservation is for 12/11 - 1x , or 12/15 - 12/18 you should be fine.

Good luckl! :)

Thanks Doc. :goodvibes
So I can do that then on the phone in one fell swoop w/ MS? They'll be able to see if there is availability at BLT w/o me having to let go of my AKVs first.

That would be the plan to do either beginning or end of stay for the switch. We're old hands at resort swapping so that's how we usually did it. Used to be that we'd stay at a mod and them move upto a deluxe or occasinally from deluxe to deluxe. THIS will be so much more fun! :goodvibes

they will tell you availability before you'd have to cancel the AKV reservation.

1) if there is no availability, you will have the option to waitlist a room at BLT
2) if there is availability, you can book BLT. they will then cancel your AKV and book BLT.

on very rare occasions, the available villa has disappeared in the time it took to cancel the AKV reservation...but that's awfully rare. if you want to hold the AKV reservation while you book BLT, you will need a ton of points to do so...
