I am looking for clarification on 11 month booking. I will get 300 points at SSR in March of 23. I want to book at trip for April of 23 when my 11 month booking opens on May 1, 2022. That trip will cost me 327 points so more than my 300.
Will Disney allow me to book that room with only 300 points as of now in that UY?
Does it just auto borrow the other 27 points?
Can I just bank 27 points now to cover the difference? I don’t know banking rules, can you bank multiple times or only once so wait until last minute to bank?
Ultimately I want to bank not borrow but not sure how it works.

A common misconception is that you don't get your annual allotment of points until your UY begins. The truth is that all of your points from every year are there, they just have windows during which they can be used (your UY).

An April 2023 reservation falls in your March 2023 UY. It can use points from your 2023 UY, banked points from 2022 and borrowed points from 2024.

You can bank points any time during the UY up until the banking deadline. You cannot bank them before the UY begins. You will have to wait until March to bank your 2022 points. You can bank as many points as you wish, as many times as you want.

You are currently limited to borrowing 50% of your points. Borrowing occurs when you make a reservation. It is not automatic. You have to go through the borrowing process when booking the reservation.

Both banking and borrowing are irreversible. Once done, the points cannot be returned to their original UY.

Rule to remember: regardless of use year, and as long as rooms are available, you can always reserve home resort 11-months out and another resort 7-months out. When making a reservation and determining which points can be used, and whether you need to bank or borrow, wipe from your mind the date you will call or go online to make the reservation and look only at the dates you will be at WDW.

You have a March use year and plan an April 2023 trip at your home resort. You can make that reservation 11-months out in May 2022. Looking only at the dates in April 2023 when you will be at WDW, your "current" use year points for that trip are the ones from the March 2023 use year. Just before making the reservation, you could bank March 2022 points and then use them for the trip, and, if needed when making the reservation, you could borrow up to half of your March 2024 use year points. In other words, the total points you could have available to use for that trip when making the reservation in May 2022 is a maximum of 750 points -- 300 "current" March 2023 use year points, 300 2022 banked points, and 150 2024 borrowed points.

Thanks for the help but I may be asking wrong. If I want to avoid the system automatically borrowing that last 27 points I better have them banked beforehand?

If you want to use banked 2022 points for the trip, you need to bank them before actually making the reservation. Note that would mean banking any March 2022 points that you want use at anytime between March 1, 2022 and just before you actually make the April 2023 reservation. Example, if trip begins April 1, 2023 and you want to reserve it on May 1, 2022, you need to do the act of banking the March 2022 points that you want to use into the 2023 use year by 30 seconds before you make the reservation

The system won’t auto borrow. You have to authorize it.

When you go to book, it will tell you you can bank the points then aallow it if you don’t do it ahead of time.

So, you can bank 27 of your 2022 points while booking or do it ahead of time so they are there.

As noted, you can bank as many times as you want during the banking window.

Easiest way for me to know what is available to book is figure UY of the trip. Then I know I can use banked points from UY prior to the trip, points from the UY of the trip and borrow up to 50% of my points from the UY after the trip.

Ok thank you, now for the second part of the equation as I learn how the system moves my points around.

The trip I described above is for sure and I have enough points to do one more after banking and borrowing but not sure what the system will do. As stated above I will book at 11 months on May 1, 2022 for April of 23 and use 327 points so my March 23 UY will technically be at 0 points. I am looking into a Poly trip in Jan of 22 which I can’t book until 7 months which is June 1, 2022. I do not have enough points in my March 22 UY for this trip. How does this work because it if looks to borrow from March 23 UY it will say 0 because of the trip I booked 1 month early. Does the system just correct itself and borrow March 24 UY points for the April 23 trip now?

If you use the 2023 UY points first, then you won’t have any to book Jan 2022 trip because they will be in a reservation.

One thing you can do is make a fake reservation using the number of 2022 points you will need to use for January 2023 trip so you tie up some 2022 points for the trip.

Then, when booking the 2023 trip, borrow from 2024 for that trip to complete it,

Once booked, cancel the fake trip and you will know have points for that January trip.

For example, book a trip for Aug 2022 now, anywhere, for a similar number of points. That would hold the points so the system can’t use them when you book the April 2023 trip.

Separate reservations require separate points and nothing gets corrected when making that second reservation. If you use points for the April 2023 reservation and intend to keep it, no points in that reservation will be available for the Poly reservation. Thus, if that April 2023 reservation uses all of your March 2023 points, you will haver none to borrow for a Jan 2023 trip to Poly.

Should I just wait until after June 1 to book the SSR 2BR for April of 23. Do I even have to worry that standard 2BR over Easter week of April 23 would fill up by 10 months instead of booking right at 11 months.

That's what I would do. I strongly doubt the SSR 2-bedrooms will book up before the 7 month window opens, even for the weeks surrounding Easter.

For 2022 and all years before that, all room sizes at SSR, both standard and preferred, were available at 7 months out for Easter week.
