11 Month/7 Month windows

Is it okay to book at 11 month home resort only to change to 7 month resort without any unforseen difficulties/penalties? If so, is it better to change to 7 month resort on a day by day reservation basis or wait until last checkout day?I would most likely being doing this around Presidents week (Magic season) so I know this plays a roll with regards to demand. I am a new member to DVC at BCV and would like to hear from the veterans in the group about how they have approached this.Is it more difficult to try for 1Bdrm or 2Bdrm based on demand?

For President's week you're switching from BCV, I assume, to where?

I would be switching to any other DVC site at WDW or possilbly Vero Beach for couple of days.

At the 7 month point, call MS and ask what's available. You can always get on a wait list and they are very good at calling if something opens up. They will ask you if you want them to automatically switch you if something comes available, or if you want them to call you and let you decide.

If you opt for them to contact you, I believe they give you 24 hrs to decide if you want to switch. It's that simple. Best of all, you don't have to keep calling they keep track for you. I would think you'd be able to switch somewhere without any problem at all.

It all depends on where you want to go. I was there this past year that week and will see you there next year

Be patient, the waitlist will probably be necessary but does tend to clear. I need 2 rooms and with patience and flexibility to resorts, got what I need.
